3rd one on the go

Right, that's the 3rd BIAB on the go..........

2.5kg Pale Malt
250g Caramalt
30g Amarillo @ 90mins
30g Chinook @ 15mins
1.5kg Liquid Extract added in fermenter and topped up to 5 gallons
s-05 used this time as I believe it lets the flavour of the hops through better than s-04

Didn't quite hit the target of 1.045 tho, not enough water for my sparge dunk :( Must remember to use more next time.......
I wonder how many more brews it'll take for me to finally accept that I'm now brewing good beer? I've had so many brews with that off flavour that I still find it hard to believe that the beer I'm enjoying was made by me. Happy days :P

Doesn't that s-05 get stuck in to the fermentables? It's had a really good feast. Gravity started at 1.042 and ended up at 1.004. I hope it hasn't dried it out too much, mind you I was hoping to make a sort of hoppy pale ale type thing so it might be ok as they're usually quite dry ( aren't they? ) :)
Still well impressed with the method too. I've not had the faintest whiff of the flavour that used to plague me
Next brew I think I'll swap the additions of Amarillo and Chinook around to see how that changes the flavour. I'll use my other sachet of s-05 too so I don't change too many things at once :)
Happy days.............. :P

I hear yer Tom

Just cubed my third BIAB a few days ago, and have started drinking the first. My brews got better when I went from kits to extract, but still had a bit of a homebrew twang to them. I am so stoked about my recently bottled golden ale. It has had a couple of mates very impressed.

Can't believe I made it.

I've actually managed to get one of my work mates into home brewing after tasting mine. He's well happy with it and he's got his missus supping it too
Good stuff...........
