Welcome Old Bloke (from another old bloke). What took so long in moving up to BIAB? It's as easy as a kit and makes much better beer (in my not-so-humble opinion). Dive in and let us know if you have any questions.

Hi,

John here from Ireland. I brewed once using a kit a few years ago, and was about to invest in a full all grain setup, when I heard about BIAB. The site is excellent, and BIAB seems a lot more accessible to someone who's not overly familiar with the brewing process. Looking forward to getting a lot of use out of the site!

Hey guys. Matt here from Brisbane. Like most blokes I don't read instructions so jumped straight into a thread without posting here first.

Anyhow, I've been brewing for 15 years and have been AG brewing for about 10. I've tried 3V brewing but it was always such a PITA. I went a couple of years just brewing extract with grains, kits and bits, etc. I then got back into it with stove top partials with a pot in a pot. I now have a 38L kettle and do full mash BIAB and I'm loving it. I've still got plenty to learn however so here I am.

Cheers :drink:

Gpupu and Gezzanet, welcome to the forum.

Gpupu - sounds like you are on track. Let us know if you have any questions.

Gezzanet - we think that BIAB is the easiest way to brew whole grain, and that whole grain beer tends to turn out better than extracts... (Of course you can make good beer with extracts, just whole grain is normally better...sometimes much better; definitely more versatile.). Let us know if you are to the stage where you want to move up and give BIAB a shot and have any questions.

Panoss - welcome to the forum! Make sure to grab a copy of the Excel spreadsheet file, the BIABacus. It's free on this site and is a big help with guiding your brew session. And let us know what questions you have.

EDIT: Quite a bit of useful information is in the beginner section. http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=5 Clear Brewing Terminology etc. the BIABacus is the first in the TOPICS section here: http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1869

I put all of my data that always stays the same for each brew session into the file (dimensions of pot, name, cooling method, etc.) and save the file on my computer for easy retrieval each time I brew. Then save each of my brew session files on computer as different file too. (Plus save a printout in 3-ring binder for easy retrieval).

There is a ton of useful / helpful info on this site, but more advanced info is sometimes more difficult to find. Hidden in posts...sometimes you can find in searches (FIND). Everyone is just volunteering their time; nobody is paid for the immense amount of hours it would take to properly go through and organize info for easier finding. But that said lots of useful things in the above link.

Do you already have your pot, bag, etc. (hopefully pulley if brewing outside)? There are recommendations on the site for equipment too.

Let us know if there are any more questions.

Hello from Denver. I have been extract brewer off and on for many years and recently converted to biab. I've done 4 batches now and I'm very happy with the results. I hope to learn a lot from these forums and continue improving my brewing skills. :peace:

Hello all. I have 1 BIAB under my belt which was a little low in OG for the style (American Pale Ale) but tasted very good.
I live in the US near Las Vegas Nevada. I heard about this site on the Beer Smith Web Site.

Hi everyone! Thank you for a great site. Loads of great useful information.

I'm a brand new brewer, finally going to try my first brew during the upcoming weekend. I've been an innocent bystander for way too long, wanting to get into home brewing.

After an intense week of googling I've finally taken the step to order some equipment and ingredients. My colleague opened my eyes to BIAB and no-chill, so it is what I will be trying first.

Welcome whiskey!
Waiting until Santa shows will give you an excellent amount of time to research and prepare for your first brew. Check the biabacus out and we can help make your brew start smoothly.
Some people are like slinkies. Not good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Well this should be fun! I'm just starting to study this process. An acquaintance walked me through his All Grain process he's been using since the 1970's, and gave me a brew kettle in the process. What a deal.I'll pick up a few more pieces around Xmas and intend to do my first BIAB right around the first of the year. In the meantime I'll be lurking around learning as much as I can
