Hi Tim, I disgree with Josh .. the file does not look right.

A few things.

Your BIABacus version is pretty old, so you might want to download a newer version. 1.3T is the newest, I believe.

1. Scaling the OG up two points is within a typical margin of error, and I see it as a bit redundant to try for +2pts. That feature is rarely used, and when it is .. there should be very good reason for it. Remove that for this first brew just to see what you get. You can always fiddle around with kettle efficiency override (sec. X) down the line, which will make the file much less confusing. Altering efficiency there will achieve the same result (except this way your hop calculations won't get screwy as they were). Of course, I wouldn't do this until you know this particular brew on your system .. which takes a few brews to see a trend.

2. The brewer's final volume is pretty clearly meant to be EOBV-A (VAW on newer version). 23L is correct for that, so unless you want to scale the recipe ... desired VIF needs to be lower than that (20.72L in this case).

The brewer specifies 75% mash efficiency/kettle efficiency, so this needed to be added to section X in order to investigate the brewer's original numbers. Everything seems to work out, so then you can delete that figure in section X once you desire to see the ingredients you will need. .. as the BIABacus states that you will get much better efficiency on your system (look in section P, it's estimated to be 88.6%).

Hi Rick,

First brew, I adjusted the numbers to what I actually got in and out based on the grains used etc. I'll have a look at it later if I get a chance. I think Josh is just commenting on that it sounds like a nice beer.

Funnily enough Josh I've not heard of Helga hops, but they seem to be an aussie equivalent to the original EBK. I got them cheap from the malt miller in the UK (£1 a pop) so I tried them out as I was missing the ones I should have got in the order.

Playing with the numbers - I only got 20ltrs out, I probably got 77% efficiency. I don't understand the calc particularly well yet, so perhaps another mistake.

Had to use an old calc as I can't access the new one due to security restrictions from where I am

Ah, I figured it was not brewed yet considering there are no measurements added. Still though, have a look at my edits relative to the recipe found in your provided link. The recipe is not correctly translated.

Tim_n,

Getting 20L(VIF) instead of 23L(VIF) may have been a Boil Problem.

If you boiled on a Clear, Dry Day, you could have boiled off Much more, than the Program projected.

But, If it was Cool, and Raining, That would not be the Trouble.
