Hi everyone from the First State. (Delaware)

Long time wine maker but new to brewing. Just made my first extract batch and have been reading everything I can to make better beer and at the same time have fun doing it.

Hope to gain lots of information from the site and hopefully share some things too.

Welcome Motorbreath, Gl3nn and Boxmannn. This is a great place to learn by reading some of the massive amounts of information and guidance already given to the many brewers adopting BIAB. Plus, you can ask questions about almost anything (even beer) and get answers quickly. Read a lot, try out the BIABacus, then brew and review and you will generate some new ideas and you can actually get help if you seek it here.
Gl3nn and especially Boxmannn - multiple n's are great! :drink:

Hi, I live in the best little capital in the world: Wellington, New Zealand. The home of many fantastic boutique breweries and fantastic beers. I just had my first go at doing a BIAB. Well, talking about learning from your mistakes: there was plenty to learn from. E.g. boiling the brew after the mash-out, testing your equipment so that poorly connected hoses on the chiller don't spray water all over your brew, and not dunking the un-sanitized jar into the brew to clear out the last bits of yeast that was dehydrated an hour to early.

So time for doing my homework. One of my mates pointed me at this side and the impressive & complex looking BIABacus. So here goes..

Hello all,

I'm from Reading in the UK. So far I've only attempted one BIAB brew and it didn't go too well, so I'm hoping I can glean some info from this site. I have two young daughters, which doesn't leave much time for brewing and means hangovers are doubly painful, so at the moment I'm trying to work on some small scale (10l) brews.

Hey fox, you've come to the right place. If you read the advice given on this site and carefully apply it your BIAB future will be much brighter! Tons of info here and lots of troubleshooting for individual issues. If you can't find the answers you seek don't hesitate to ask. And the BIABacus can really help too, give it a try and happy brewing!

Hey everybody! I live just north of Dallas, TX
I have been brewing small batches of extract for a few years and saw this site from a youtube video. Well, tomorrow I take the plunge for my first batch! Exciting to say the least. Wish me luck.
Oh, forgot to mention what I do. I am a saxophonist and music teacher. Hopefully with hands on and this awesome site I will have a great journey.
Take care y'all

I'm from Brisbane, born and raised there.

I heard about brew in a bag on the reddit forum, and the brewing network and beer smith podcasts. So I google BIAB and it brought me to this website. I haven't made a brew with this method, I have just been making extract and steeping grain recipes so far. I've bought the bag and now I'm just waiting for the money to buy some grains. I brew in my spare time off from my PhD.

Hi All,
I'm a middle age guy from Western Norway. New to brewing, been brewing for about 4 months now, done 4 batches, 2 IPA's one Pale and one blond ale. Started directly with all grain brewing, BIAB.
We (brewing together with my neighbor) have done a static sparge/rinse in a fermentor bucket at approx 75 deg C for 15 min after mash for all batches up till now, but not really sure if needed though.
Came by this forum searching the net about BIAB, and it looks to have all of the info I need.

Looking forward to learning from you all (and hopefully I also can contribute in the future).

Cheers
Tommy

Hello

I am so new to the scene that i haven't even any equipment yet.

I have been drinking more and more ipa and apa over the last couple of years and decided to have a go at brewing.....my initial research over the last couple of weeks has brought me here and i have decided biab is the route for me.

I am currently living in Margate, Kent, UK

So this is my first official post. I am from upstate New York, USA.
I just found the site searching around the web on how to brew in a bag.
New to brewing - created a porter (a bit bitter), I have a pilsner in the garage lagering (it's less then 10 degrees (F) out...
I sampled the pilsner and it tasted pretty good - will see
In reality not to sure about how I am doing so I am looking to learn from sites like this.

Welcome to the forum Selmersax, 10001Hours, toldol, subl, tommmag, MargateNoob and Brew4me,

Sorry you didn't receive an earlier welcome. Sometimes we get drunk and lazy on weekends :).

I always love it when I get time to read some posts in this thread. It's always fascinating to see the different places where everyone is from, different occupations etc, etc. subl, I actually know someone from Slovenia!!!

Anyway, do not hesitate to ask for help as and when you need it. We're not usually lazy when it comes to answering questions, sometimes drunk though.

:salute:

Hi everyone;

I did my first BIAB last weekend. I have lots to learn and am looking forward to using this site to gain a wealth of information.

I live in the beautiful Columbia Gorge on the border between Washington and Oregon in the USA. I have been extract brewing for about 7 months and made the shift to all grain using BIAB and am excited to see where it goes.

My other hobbies are down hill skiing, road bicycle riding and flying RC airplanes

I look forward to learning and helping others

Thanks Rcflyer

Welcome aboard parks>_b, rcflyer and scoutzu! BIAB is a great way to do all grain beer and you have come to the right place for quality info on the method. If you can't find the answers you seek, just ask!

Rcflyer, I also dabble in rc flight. Started with collective pitch helis, then got some planes too, kind of backwards but I tend to do things that way.I'm certainly no pro, and the hobby has taken a bit of a backseat to brewing but I still fly as much as I can. Think I still identify as a heli guy mainly, but planes are a nice easy way to calm the nerves after smacking the big trex 600 around and cutting some grass inverted lol...
