Hi all! I live and work in the Washington D.C. area, USA. I've brewed with a friend for several years using his standard all-grain setup, and I do the occasional extract brew on my own. I heard this site mentioned on a back episode of Basic Brewing Radio and thought it sounded like an interesting way to move into all-grain on my own with a minimum of time and money investment. I'm liking the site so far and looking forward to learning from your collective wisdom.

Hi all,

Want to move from kits to all-grain, space is limited, so I found myself here.

Brewing out of Cardiff, in sunny Wales, looking forward to getting going next week, once my calculations have been ironed out.

Hello everyone.

I am from Sweden and I have never brewed before but thinking of trying BIAB brewing.
Found this site when searching for information and it seems to be the right place for that.

My name is Mario and I'm from Europe ( Slovenia, not Slovakia) . I ran into this while reading up on BIAB to try and whip up a reasonably simple and space-efficient brewing system for my condo. So far I've found a wealth of great information on the technique and am looking forward to learning more! I haven't brewed yet and am taking my time before I dive in for the first batch. Measure twice and all that.

Hello All,

I am a fairly new brewer from Nashville, TN USA. I have brewed two 5 gal (19 L) extract batches and a 1 gal (4 L) all grain batch on my stovetop. I have been investigating how to move to all grain cheaply while still producing decently sized batches, and my research has led me to BIAB and this website. I think that I should be able to do mini-BIAB batches, and I am excited to explore this site further!

Cheers,
chuckalhashib

Hello all,

Checking in from Southern California, USA. I've done 5 BIAB batches and several other extract/partial mash. The BIAB method is very efficient and I have been able to fine tune my process with each batch.

Hello Fellow Brewers,

This is my first post to this truly remarkable site. I have not BIAB yet, only extract kits. With the help of the information here and the BIABacus calculator, I am ready to give it a try. I have converted a 5 gallon all-grain recipe to 3 gallons for my 5 gallon pot and am excitedly waiting to find time to get to the supply store.

I am posting from the eastern part of North Carolina in the US, a region that we fondly call Eastern Carolina. I am just getting into brewing but as is typical for me I have done a lot of research in order to "not make bad beer" if I can help it. BIAB sound like just the approach for me as being able to brew on the stove top with minimal equipment is ideal for my needs.

I look forward to continuing to peruse this site and learning from those much more experienced than I. Greetings from Eastern Carolina and Happy Brewing.

prldad,

Welcome to the site. I am happy you like it. In Eastern Caroline there is no bad beer. Just some beer that is less tasty than others. It's all good (even the bad stuff)

Hello!

I'm from Massachusetts, USA, and have recently adopted BIAB as my preferred brewing method. I've been brewing for just under 4 years, mostly extract/steeped grains, but with the occasional partial-mash. After trying BIAB, I felt that it was the right method for me, going forward.

I came across this site a year or two ago, perhaps on a Google search of my own, I don't recall. But recently hearing Pat Hollingdale on the Basic Brewing Radio podcast made me decide to register and have a look around. I know only the basics of BIAB, and am certain that this is truly "the place to be" to learn more. And the hobby is all about learning, IMO.

I have worked in Information Technology for close to three decades, and am naturally drawn to the technical side of brewing. Recipe formulation, calendar planning and "hitting my numbers" are among my favorite aspects -- besides enjoying the end product, of course. But I also enjoy the "right brain" aspects of the hobby, too, including naming brews and designing labels.

I look forward to honing my craft with the general knowledge, tips and hidden gems that I'm sure I'll find here. And hopefully some day, I'll even be able to contribute in a meaningful way -- to pay it forward, so to speak.

Cheers!

Hi everybody, I'm Joe from England. I've been brewing for four years, starting with kits moving to three vessel all grain, before making the step UP to brew in a bag about a year ago. I've done a little bit of work in small breweries and I regularly pilot brew for a local brewery using my 70 litre BIAB kit.

I was listening to a Basic Brewing Radio podcast last night and a guy from this website was on it, challenging a lot of the myths behind BIAB that I'm always arguing with the three vessel brigade about. I'm very interested in using the calculator. At the moment I use a combination of Beersmith and a simple excel calculator that I've developed myself.

I've won local competitions with BIAB brewed beer, had three brewing job offers in the last year due to the quality of my beer and I do BIAB training days at my local homebrew shop. Why anyone brews with three vessels at home is beyond me.

Underground Joe, the BIABacus is the correct "calculator" to use. It will scale your recipes down to home brewers sizes, for us. Please share some of your favorites...

Hello,

I brewed allot of extract about 10 years ago, became married with kids, and have come full circle to brewing again. I stumbled upon this idea and at least to me, is about perfect and is not a far stretch from steeping grains and using 7lbs or so of light malt syrup.

I currently live in the Hampton Roads area and will soon attempt by first all-grain, BIAB hefe!

Brew often,

Joe
