Switch from US gals to UK Gals?

Hi,

As far as I can see when I enter an amount is litres it is automatically converted to Gals, so I can see it in both units. This is great and extremely useful.

However, it appears to be US gals, is there a way to set it to convert to UK gals?

A check box somewhere I have missed?

Nearly all of the auto claculations have an adjustment field but I cannot find one to change this setting.

Thank you Mad-S your fast reply is much appreciated.

I will change the formula to support UK gals. I know this will mean I am then banned from uploading the modified sheet, but it will be worth doing, as I use both measurements and keep forgetting to mentally convert the US Gals to UK. Gals.

Probably won't help you much Yettiman but the "unit conversion" tab has Imperial gallons as well as US customary & Metric.

Hi Malty,

Yes I saw that, another great feature, but is is not the same as having the two figures, Litres and Uk Gals next to each other on the main sheet.

It is a simple enough fix, will only take 10 mins.

It is against the rules to post any BIABacus sheets that have been modified in this way, and I totally understand why, but if I want to upload a recipe, I can always re enter it into an original format one.

But, thank you for the suggestion, I just wanted to make sure I had not missed something.

I am thinking that it must be to do with the massive considerations that were given by the creation team to compatibility, or they might have set it as a constant (Litre2Gal) and just set it as a default adjustment, like so many other fields.

As I have said, it is an awesome tool,

I have a Master sheet with all my recipes on, that indexes into a recipe folder of individual BIABacus recipes, works very well

Glad to see you are enjoying the BIABacus Yetti ;).

We have had several BIABaci working behind the scenes that would do what you want but unfortunately, they would not work cross-platform. While you could click a button in Excel to convert US gallons to UK gallons or metric, that button may or may not work in other Excel versions or other Windows OS let alone in LibreOffice or OpenOffice. That button was one of the simplest! I'd hate to count the hours that were spent trying to make that work :roll:. (I think I personally lost a year or so :smoke:).

The BIABacus really needs to be accepted for what it is...

1. The most intelligent/clever/revolutionary bit of brewing software out there.
2. In bad clothing - It runs on no macros. Everything is if/or statements.
3. We could make it perfect. All the thinking has been done. But BIABrewer.info would need a skilled programmer or two to put up their hand and the BIAB community to invest in them.
4. BIABrewer is very IT poor.

So, that's the way it is atm :dunno:.

Thanks PP, I thought it might have been the compatibility issue, I know you (and the team) have put literally thousands of hours into BIABacus.

At my level, I use it more as a teaching tool than a recipe database, and know it has much much more to teach me :)
