Hi all, Rob from Adelaide (a lot of Aussies on here).
I found an 'instructable' on simple brewing but thought they needed a filter for the grain (hence the BIAB idea).
Site looks good, hope to get and share some good info.
I've brewed with concentrate tins and with fresh wort kits.Fresh wort kit yields good beer without the long lead time of grain. Want to make my own recipe dark beer and BIAB will let me use the smaller pots I have at home without spending hundreds on a full size 70L pot.
I work in an office environment, always like the external stimulation things like brewing give.

Thought I would answer the basics

1. Where are you from? Wisconsin, USA (cheese, beer and packers)
2. How did you stumble across the site? Wanted an easier way to brew so google led me to you.
3. What you think of it so far? I think it seems like a great way to jump into the world of all grain! Lots of good info on the site.
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I have been an extract brewer. Goal is to do BIAB just after the new year. Christmas may be good to me.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I work for a software company in Madison, WI. I am also a freelance musician. Nice to meet all of you and I look forward to brewing in a bag! :D

Hi All,
Live in the Southern Highlands N.S.W.(out of Camden thereabouts), also use the AHB site, haven't been brewing long. Did a few kits & bits and some partials with good results but want more control over my brewing so went AG-BIAB (straight forward and simple process). Done a few BIABs with pleasing results, still lots to learn. Looking forward to sharing ideas and techniques with like-minded brewers.

Hi all,
Currently an extract brewer, living in Melbourne, keen as hell to jump on the AG wagon. BIAB is such an approachable brewing technique for AG newbies that I can't help but be converted!

This site is an awesome source of info. I've already had many of my BIAB questions answered just by reading the many forum topics so a big thank you to all those who share their brewing knowledge.

Cheers!

Howdy

A rookie BIABer here - have done Ross' Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale and Dr Smurto's Golden Ale clone. Still got quite a bit to learn, but definitely been a big jump in the right direction!

I am a psychologist (mostly organisational/business psych) but am also starting up a dating coaching business (areyousingleandlooking.wordpress.com) out of Brisbane.

Has been a good read on the site thus far, looking forward to churning through it more.

Hey everyone, I'm from just outside of Atlanta GA. I found this site from various references on homebrewtalk.com and thebrewingnetwork.com. I've been brewing for about a year and a half now and have been AG brewing for about a year. I just converted a 15gal keg to a boil kettle and plan on trying out Brew in a Bag, as opposed to the batch sparge/cooler method that I have been using. Primarily, I'm interested in BIAB to save time and make my brew day a little easier.

Hello,

I'm from Oakland, California. I'm getting back into brewing after a long hiatus--the loss of my wife and being a single parent being the major reasons I stopped brewing.

I was extract brewing back in the day, and have decided I want to take the plunge and go all grain this time. BIAB seems so brilliant that I am fascinated to discover whatever limits there are--if there are any.

I'm here because no one around here seems to be a strong BIAB brewer. (Maybe I've missed someone lurking somewhere?) For whatever reasons, the homebrew club types I've met are wonderful, and also very dedicated to their more traditional grain brewing systems. So my questions -- such as, can you make a great bock with BIAB, and if so, how? -- aren't ones anyone I've met can answer.

Thanks

itsallbeer,
You can brew any beer with BIAB. It's up to you to pick the recipe and practice good sanitation. Last winter I brewed a Maibaock that was "Lights out" I had two NON drinkers that tried it (to be polite) and I had to drive home to get more! Here is a link to the recipe.

Greetings! My name is Joe, I'm currently in Cincinnati Ohio, but will be moving to my original home of Minneapolis Minnesota. Like many others, I'm an extract brewer getting ready to bump it up to the real deal of AG brewing. I'm interested in BIABrewing because I do not have a house, all of my brewing is done out of my apartment with the help of my lovely girlfriend. I can ferment three 5 gallon batches at the most at any given time. Some of my favorite beers are wheats, belgians and DIPAs (of course). Some of my favorite commercial breweries are Bells, Surly, New Glarus, Summit and Paulaner.

Hi guys,

I'm from Adelaide, Australia and have been brewing with cans of goo for the last 2 or so years. I have upgraded to a kegging system and am now keen to start inproving what I actually brew. BIAB seems perfect for my situation in regards to space and costs. Really looking forward to putting my first one down in the next 2 weeks or so.

Hi all, 1st post tonight. :salute: I'm from the Kiama on the South Coast NSW Been behind the scenes reading up and leaning about the process for about 8 months now while I have been getting my gear together. never AG before but after reading all the posts, feels like I have already put down a couple.
Great info provided by all. Looking at putting down my 1st actual AG this week end. :D

G'day all.

I hail from sunny brisbane (at least for the last few days anyway)
Past experience is with kit brewing. Got a biab demo from a mate in the US while visiting recently which has inspired me.
My first biab is fermenting right now and doesn't taste too bad considering all of the monumental stuff ups I made.
Here's to improvement.

Cheers
Mick

Hi all!

1. Where are you from? South Portland Maine
2. How did you stumble across the site? Will researching brewing techniques came across the famous posts by Thirsty Boy on the Brewing Network and by PistolPatch on AHB.
3. What you think of it so far? So far so good. Lots of info
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? Have never brewed before.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? Photographer

I plant a vine of Nugget hops last year. First year it did not produce much but this year it filled a 5 gal bucket. Thought it was a lot till I dried & vacuum packed them.... only 12 oz. Now I need to do something with them. Being a photographer & an avid cook both technical & creative fields like brewing, I'm just going to jump in the deep end & go BIAB. I have a local friend who kit brews who will giving me a hand. The plan is to do an only Nugget hopped IPA or APA. Will keep you posted!

Cheers

Hey All!

Made the move to Beervana :D (aka Portland, OR) about 3 1/2 years ago and immediately jumped in to the brewing scene. Gotta say it's quickly become my passion! I've been an extract brewer most of that time but have recently jumped in to AG. I'm trying to learn as much as possible and find the simplicity of BIAB most intriguing! Hoping to try my hand at a BIAB batch within the next couple of months. Can't wait to dive in to all the info on this site! Cheers!!

Hey fellow brewers, I live in Perth and have been brewing for a couple of years now, mainly extract with a few partials.

Just getting the BIAB rig together now. 50L keg with an electric element. Still sorting out bag options.

Anywho It's good to see a site dedicated to BIAB.

Cheers, Mat.

Hi All
I'm really new to brewing, starting with a homebrew kit. I've brewed three batches so far but
don't want to be dependent on kits any longer. After a bit of research I discovered BIAG and
thought this is the way I want to go. I read a few threads on this site and thought it would
be a valuable resource.I'm semi retired and have plenty of time to tinker.

cheers Lou

Hi from Manchester, UK.

I'm new to BIAB - I have brewed quite a few kits and want to try something new.

The BIAB way is catching on over here.

The price of beer in the UK is getting beyond a joke. Most of it is on tax!!

Anyway looking forward to brewing in a new (to me) way.

'allo.

I'm from West Sussex in the UK and I've been brewing kits for two years and I'm getting interested in trying extract or AG brews and then I stumbled on this BIAB method.
I heard about it this site on the Jims Beer Kit forum.

I'm hoping to give this method a try in the next few weeks after reading up on it here.

Hello, all. I'm from the US (rural Nevada, to be specific). I've been brewing steeped grains recipes for about 1.5 years. I learned about BIAB from the Basic Brewing Radio podcast, and it sounds like a great way of getting into all-grain. I'm just about to order recipe ingredients and try it. Wish me luck. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I'm looking forward to all the great info available on this site.

I live in Southern California. I found this site by Google, "brewing in a bag". I have been brewing for a short time and want to step up to the next level.
