Hello World!

I've brewed about 30 extract kits and about 15 all-grain.
My all grain experience is via an e-Rims system using 10 gallon victory coolers, a custom SS heatbox and PID controller.
I make 5 to 6 gallons of primary and would like to move to the 10-15 gallon range.
I have been assembling a parts list for a eRims and it is getting out of control.
I stumbled across BIAB from Homebrewtalk on random surfing and realized how much cost, time and space savings I would have.
I drink a LOT of beer, so I have to brew 5 gallons a week. And in Charlotte, NC 95F outdoor heat, it's a real bother.

I like the site so far and am interseted in being able to see the photos.

I work as a software engineer with a live-in girlfriend.
I also write my own brewing software. I'll modify it very soon to suit a BIAB brewer!!!

1. I'm from Lansing, Michigan, USA
2. Found the site via google looking for more info on BIAB
3. Looks like an amazing resource. Can't seem to get my questions answered other places.
4. I've brewed for a few years doing extract batches, and moving on to mini-mashes in the last few years.
5. Nursing student! I'm going back to school after working for 10 years doing live sound and recording music (still play punk and grindcore always!).

Hi!

My name is Jamie and I live in Melbourne. I've only recently starting brewing with my starter kit done and a couple of extract recipes is the fermenter at the moment. I'm keen to progress and I'm interested in the BIAB process due a lack of space available to me. I've been reading around on this site for a couple of weeks before registering and I'm impressed so far.

Cheers,
Jamie

Hi,

I'm from Western Sydney and have been brewing AG now for 2 years using the traditional batch sparge method. I came across the BIAB method on the AHB forums and I think I found the link to this site there. Have done 2 BIAB brews and love it! So simple and easy to clean up. Will be converting the old mash tun back to a cooler :)

Looking forward to working on a stable BIAB process and maybe adding a little technology to spice things up :)

Hello every one, I'am a plumber for a place of higher learning in central Michigan. I have been brewing for about 17 years off and on. I started as an extract brewer and after a few years I started to brew all grain. I thought It produced better beer but the extra time with young busy children I switched back to extract. Last week I ran a long a post on the brewing network's site and began searching around for more info and heer I am. I am looking forward to my first BIAB within the next month when I can get a beg all sewing it up.

Hi, I'm Mike, and I followed a link from Reddit to get here. I've been brewing for about a year, and as soon as I get an 8 gallon pot I'll be ready to brew all-grain. I did a 3 gallon batch a month ago, and I think my process for that was pretty similar to the BIAB method, but I'm looking for more info since I didn't get the OG I expected.

Also, I'm glad that resources like this exist, thanks for all the hard work.

Hello.

I'm from Texas in the United States, came across this site as a recommendation from homebrewtalk.com on where to find more information on BIAB. I've done 8 brews so far, all mini-mash or extract with specialty grains. I'm really interested in trying BIAB because I feel it will let me explore the complexity of all-grain without the daunting initial equipment investment.

I have not tried the BIAB method yet, however I am getting close. I have been on the HomeBrew Talk board as well as watching SteelJan's videos on YouTube and it seems pretty straight forward. I plan on ordering a 10 gallon pot from Williams Brewing and then I should be all set to go. I can pick up with grain bag from the LHBS. Question - do you recommend a coarse bag or fine mesh?

http://www.williamsbrewing.com/BREWER_S ... 366C50.cfm - $99.90
Shipping is $6.50 to Arizona so $106.40 delivered.

I am also trying to fit the BIAB profile in Beersmith but a little confused there. Thoughts?

Hi All,
My name is Damian, and I live in Canberra.
I've been brewing for 12 months now, after the kids brought me a starter kit for Fathers Day. From day one I've been hooked, progressing from the kits to extract. My next step was All Grain and whilst I was researching constructing a mash tun, I came across BIAB. As yet I haven't used the method, but I am very eager to give it a try soon.
It's great to have so much info, like this site, especially when your starting out. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to contribute.
Regards
Damian

Hi! I have been homebrewing since January, and doing full boil extract, mostly from kits. I would really like to start making the transition to all grain, mostly so I can have more control over my brewing. I read a bit about the BIAB method, which led me here. Looks like a great community, I look forward to learning more about the process and giving it a try! Thanks for making this resource available!

Hello from Minnesota! I started brewing a few months ago and I have enjoyed learning the process. I have been doing partial mash batches, but think I am ready to take the leap to all grain. The BIAB method just seems to make the most sense to me!
I look forward to utilizing this site to make great, interesting homebrew!

ADMIN NOTE & WELCOME TO OUR FIRST ACTIVE FEMALE BIABREWER.

Thanks to all of you who have waded through the rigmarole of our registration process and made your 'first post,' above. You taking the time to do this has prevented a heap of admin problems. Only a few dedicated spammers get through and are quickly dealt with. More interestingly, your first posts above are making this thread a very interesting read for all brewers. All the above posts seem to contain something relevant to other brewers. Some of the above posts are total gems.

If you have any feedback, complaints or suggestions, do not hesitate to contribute here (re the registration process) or here (re general stuff), or simply send me a PM if you have any ideas on how the site can become more active or beneficial.

I'd also like to welcome Renae who, as far as I am aware of is BIABrewer.info's first active female poster. Her first post is not here, it is here?* Renae and her husband, Sqyre, are enthusiastic brewers with a totally generous and humourous spirit. They are repeated hosts of the legendary Queensland Christmas Case Swap which is the most posted about brewers' meeting I have ever seen world-wide. They are the brewers who have made it legendary.

Welcome once again to you all,
Pat

* As I know Renae and Sqyre personally, they obviously don't present a spam problem so I have upgraded them to Fully Registered Members even though they have not posted in this thread. Let's hope they are able to find the time to enjoy themselves here and, if not, at least defend themselves against PistolPatch's infedilty allegations. :)

Hi All,

I live in the Riverland, South Australia, have been brewing on and off over the past 10 or so years mostly just extract kits, but a few with some specialty grain additions etc. I got really lucky last year when my wonderful wife got me a kegging setup as a Christmas present - this has made everything a lot easier, and fired up my passion for home brewed beer.

I'm interested in making the jump to BIAB and have been doing a lot of reading at the Aussie Home Brewer site, a post there led me to this site.

Looking forward to learning a bit more about the process and then launch into it.

Cheers,
Spanky.

Hello!

Greetings from Corvallis, Oregon, USA!

I have been brewing for a little over a year. Maybe 10 brews so far, all extract + steeping grains. I'd like to make the leap to all-grain, and was almost ready to buy a mash tun when I first heard about BIAB. Sounds great to me! Less equipment to store, and sounds easier to boot! I'm in! :D

Hi everyone,

Only started home brew about 5 months ago, quite impressed with kits so far but I cant wait to give AG a go.

Currently on a drill ship offshore reading lots online and all I can think of is BEER, shame as its going to be another 2-3 weeks before I can have one let alone make some.

Post #194 made 15 years ago
Ok well my names Michael, I live in Melbourne, Australia. I got into brewing through a few people I know who are doing a full AG set up (interested in quality beer) and a few who do kits (interested in cheap alcohol). Started reading a lot of the AHB forums and stumbled across this through PP's postings.
Just got back from a trip overseas for 10 months, and looking to brew a few of the beers that I tried. So just on here to get back up to scratch with the info before i get stuck into it.
Cheers

I live in Canton, Georgia USA. I've been brewing for a little over a year now, extract only. I was very excited to find this website for BIAB. I've been wanting to start all grain, but reluctant to spend all of the extra money and try to find the space to store everything. BIAB solves all of my problems!! I have my new (20 gallon) pot ordered and can't wait to make my bag and start brewing!!!

Hi everybody!

Sooooooo this is my first post!

I just dusted off my brewing equipment after not using it for 2+ years and decided to give it a go again. My setup is for 5 gallon, i have two empty corni kegs sat there gathering dust too. What i am interested in at the moment is doing smaller batch's ie 1-2.5 gallons so that i can brew more recipes and get more experiance in working with all grain recipes as i only have two under my belt. I started brewing when i was about 15/16 years old with the help from my best friends dad who dug out his old fermenting bin and heating mat, that was always from the supermarket kits or the brupacks ones.
During my uni days i did a few all grain brews and filled all 3 of my corni kegs at the time only to realise one keg was not air tight and ended up with an infected batch. The other two were fine though and tasted so much better than the kits, even if my method wasnt perfect ( whats a hydrometer??)

So anyway my name is James and my next purchase will be something to use as a grain bag for in my stock pot i am from the UK and live within eyesight and smell of the Greene King Brewery in Bury st Edmunds, maybe its all the real ale around the place thats made me want to brew again! :-)

[EDNOTE: mimerbryg was having a few difficulties registering so I have made this first post on his behalf. Pat]

mimerbryg hails from Denmark and was very helpful in the early days of BIAB. mimerbryg has been doing full volume brewing for ages using a bucket instead of a bag. You can see some of his pics here.

Welcome aboard mimerbryg and thanks for joining us here.

Hello everyone. My name is Nico and I write from Italy. I made a couple of beers with the BIAB method, a technique rarely used in my country.
I came across your site hoping to gain more information.
Thank you and please excuse my bad English (hurray Google translate!) :D

Hey everyone

I'm from Brisbane, Australia.

I've been brewing on and off for almost 10 years, about 2 years ago I started to add grain, hops etc to the kits and about 1 year ago I started doing partial mashes and some small all-grain BIAB batches to suit my equipment.

I'm currently looking at going full-size either by converting a keg or buying an urn - still undecided which way to go, so if anyone wants to share their experiences i'd appreciate it!

Cheers

Rudi
