ETC 200+ Temperature Control Unit Wiring HELP!

Post #1 made 13 years ago
Hi,

Love beer, Love brewing beer, love this forum, HATE WIRING.

Anyone got one of these little ETC 200+'s?

The wiring is a bit of a mystery to me but I'm determined to do it myself. Not keen on killing myself so thought I'd draw a diagram and see if any of you could confirm or correct what I'm doing?

Really appreciate your help!

Oh, I'm plugging it into a UK mains supply.

Good Day Nigel, I am not Really familar with this unit, BUT, Tying the Frdge eath wire to the Fridge power wire seems wrong.

At the bottom of this page http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/aca ... _Unit.html
Says it should be attached to pin 9.

A good link for wiring is also at http://www.forttex.com/downloads/ETC200P.pdf

Hope this helps.

Have to agree with Joshua, attatching the earth wire in the way you have in the diagram will result in death!

When you wire the earth it should go from the lead you have cut directly to the appliance, NOT through the temp controller.

The following diagram is for the STC 1000 but it will give you an idea of what I mean.

Gday Nigel,

I think you're way off the mark with that wiring. Here's a diagram that might help http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/view ... &start=180
Google ETC and you'll find a few references to it, most of us in australia use the STC1000, they're a cheap and easy solution with lots of wiring threads around the forums. I haven't had any experience with the ETC, but it seem like a similar concept
