Good Day Rob(GeekSoldier), Welcome! If you have used special grains, or partial mash with the extract, and have a large bag, You have all the equipment to go All-gGrain NOW.

Take a look at the MATER GUIDE of BIAB http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=25 and downloqad the Commentary and see step by step BIAB brewing!

Hi Everyone,

I have been researching homebrewing for 10 years. I finally got to participate on a brew at my friend's house, and I am hooked. Another friend uses BIAB exclusively, so I am going to start with this to keep my start up costs down.

I look forward to many interesting discussions.

Hi All,

About to upgrade my Birko 40lt urn for BIAB with PID temp controller with K-Type sensor to allow for step mashing, then to add a re-circulation pump and hoses to eliminate the stirring process during the mash.

I don't think you're planning on bottling your beers but I just need to point out that if you bottle beer which hasn't fully fermented, the bottles can explode!

Bonjour all!

I'm Geordan, from Toronto. Though I've been a beer aficionado for quite a while, I've only been part of the homebrew movement for just under year. My investigations in AG brewing lead me to BIAB, which lead me here... and now I'm eager to get started!

Hi all, Stew here from Blairgowrie in Scotland uk.
I started brewing what seems a long time ago (cos it was ;)), and gave it up. Now Im getting back into it and have been brewing extract with grains. I never thought I would do an all grain brew because of the expense and bother of getting all the gear and the processes involved...until I came accross a link in "Jims Beer Kit" leading me here. This is great, an all grain brew using what Ive already got and no more hassle than doing a mini mash.
I'll need to invest in a bigger kettle, my 15l wont cut it, but I plan to make a gallon batch of barley wine for nxt christmas so this will be ideal to dip my toes into all grain.
Ive never posted on forum sites before, Ive always found an answer reading other peoples posts but if it wasnt for them and you guys Id be lost. So looking fwd to being able to contribute my tuppence worth. Big thumbs up to the site moderators and all the help and advice you guys provide when problems arise.

After doing two extract and partial mash beers, I decided to try going all grain. My first attempt did not go well, my OG of my beer ended up being extremely low (1.020), so I decided to try the BIAB method to see if I'd have better luck. It's also a pain to have 3 vessels, so I'm hoping to simplify my brew setup and maybe even make less mess in kitchen.

Welcome, I think that you'll find everyone here very helpful. Im sure that BIAB will simplify your brew day, and you'll have less equipment. BIAB if the reason I was willing to go all grain. :P Try it, You'll like it!

I think this site that I was lucky to find while surfing will be a wealth of information from brewers with a passion for great beer not just the slop that you guzzle but something that you can savour, mmmm beer.
About me well yak52 is an awesome and very able forgiving Russian aircraft, brewing is another passion, yes I'm pretty good at flying the bar.
I have been an all grain brewer living at Aoraki Mt Cook NZ working as a Ranger, great place to make beer, the water is better than good now I live in Townsville and temp control is a new challenge. I am lucky to be able to live in Aussie the place and people are fantastic.
I have just purchased a crown 40 litre hot water urn and bag also a fridge controller and my fermentation barrel fits nicely in my little bar fridge specially after I cut some shelves out of the door.
Cant wait to crank up my brew gear.
A balanced diet is a beer in each hand.

Another thing is that a very fine crush will let a lot of flour thru the bag, and cause a lot of Goop to mess up the Boil. So the finer the crush, then the finer the bag material.

hello my name is Roger. I am new at biab i have done some extract but am going to all grain and am building my brew pot now out of a 15 gallon keg hope to have it up and going in a couple of weeks have got a lot of info off the site so far and join it the other day I am in the usa in the state of Tennessee really have enjoyed the sit so far

15 gal, is the way to go, either Full volume BAIB, or Maxi-BIAB w/Sparge.

Hi there, new brewer here. I've done several Mr beer kits and I've got ingredients and equipment on order to do my first all grain biab. I'll be brewing a SNPA clone. I don't care if it turns out exact, just so it turns out as tasty, tasty beer!
if the ingredients don't arrive by Tuesday I might come back asking for a simple, cheap recipe that'll be good for a first timer.

Good Day Allen(scf01), Welcome to the site! Good Luck on your SNPA brew, Don't worry if it is not exact, I have never made an exactly the same batch twice in 60 BAIB brews.
If your stuff doesn't arrive, Look up SMASH recipes. They are simple and many times very tasty.

Hey all!
Jim from Boise, Idaho, here.
I've been a brewer for 15 years, but finally made the leap to all grain last year. Looking to try BIAB to simplify things, and today is my first go-'round. Keeping it simple and doing an amber.
Have already gained tons of knowledge on this site and am looking forward to a lot more!
