Hi everyone,

I'm Taylor from Nashville, TN (US). After doing a bit of research on all-grain brewing methods, I stumbled upon BIAB and couldn't be happier to find a simple way to dive into all-grain brewing. I've brewed a couple of extract batches so far. Obviously I'm new to brewing, but hope to continue learning and making better beers.

This site seems like an amazing resource for all things BIAB and I can't wait to get started!

Hello All,

I have been making wine from grapes for a few yeas now and am now just starting to get into brewing beer since a really good home brew shop opened up in my area (Adventures in Home Brewing in Ann Arbor Michigan, USA). I have, to date, done 1 batch of extract brewing which has not yet been fermenting for a full week. I like the concept of brewing from gain rather then Malt Extract and when I heard about BIAB from the BrewSmith podcast I decided it is something for me to check out.

My goal is to work out a system and equipment so I can do this with a friend and at the end of the brew day we each leave with 5 gal in our respective primary fermenters.

Good Day Jtcweb, Welcome aboard. BIAB is the way to Brew, all-grain. 10 to 12 gallon batches are no problem. If you can get a 80 quart stock pot, and a 135,000Btu propane burner, a 12 gallon batch will work fine. No 3V needed, Just a kettle and a bag(a big bag, or a few smaller). Good luck going BIAB and let us help, if you have any questions

Hello everybody, I'm a uni student from Qld, Aus and I am about to begin my first homebrew and would like to start off with BIAB, a friend of mine has been doing homebrew for a while now but only with kits and it never tastes..right I guess. Now that I am on holidays, I figure I'll see if I can do better. I've done my research, got all the equipment I need. Going to start off with a little 9L batch, just need to wait a few days until pay day and go buy some grain. I found this site while looking for information on how to adjust recipes to BIAB. Seems to be a lot of useful info here and I hope my first brew goes well.

Hello fellow brewers,
I'm from Chateauguay Quebec, been an all grain brewer on a 3 vessel system (home built)for 13 years.
I've seen references to BIAB over the last little while on the web and in Brew Your Own (BYO) Magazine.
Having done the ususual single temp infusion mash to the more involved multi step decoction mashes,I think
the BIAB process will be a welcome change of gears for me,as now in my "old" age ,I'm
very interested in experimenting with cleaning less equipment, and shortening my brewday
I was pleased to find a web site dedicated to the BIAB technique.

Welcome aboard timothy :salute:,

There's quite a few guys here (I'm one of them) who moved from three vessel to BIAB. I think you'll really enjoy it. I now do two brews simultaneously and it's all very easy to manage.

Let us know what you think after you've had a crack.

:peace:

Hi all!

I am a hophead living in Auckland, New Zealand and came across the BIAB method on the Brewers Coop website (http://www.brewerscoop.co.nz/).

I dabbled with extract brewing a long time ago, but have just bought what I need for my first BIAB.

From what I have seen the info on this forum is comprehensive, and I am looking forward to finding out more!

Hello all! I was brought to this site when stux's BIAB calculus calculator was referenced on homebrewtalk. I have been personally working on a single vessel brewing system to fit my needs since 2008, having gone through two ( a 15.5 gallon sanke keg, and a 17 gallon plastic drink "merchandiser) iterations and about to begin my final ;) setup.

There is a great wealth of information here, and I am glad to be a part of this community.

Prost!

Wow this looks like the place I need to be to figure this BIAB stuff out! I'm an extract brewer and started researching this process just last night. I was super exited to find out that I can use my current equipment (7.5 gallon keggle and burner) for all grain, at least for now.

Hello,

My name is Bruno and I live in Brooklyn, NYC. I work part-time and freelance as a copyeditor and translator, and have been living here for 6 years now.

I stumbled upon the site for the first time when, while searching the internet for a brewing bag, a page on this site came up.

I've been brewing for three years now with extract+grains. Recently, however, before I even came across this site, I started brewing in a bag. I had read a lot about all-grain brewing and was disheartened by all the equipment that I thought needed to buy. But then, after reading enough about it, I thought, 'Hell, I don't need all that stuff, I'll just put my grain in a bag in my brew pot, and then take it out after mashing!' I tried it with grains for a simple brown ale. By accident I made a hole in the bottom of the bag while brewing, and some solid particles fell through it and into the pot. I think that made the beer cloudy, because it had a lot of sediment from the beginning, but other than that, the beer turned out just fine. It tasted great! I was really excited – I felt it was a breakthrough moment for me as a brewer, you know? All I needed was to get a sturdier bag to hold the grain, and then I would never have to brew with extract again! I started looking for a bag on the internet and this site came up. I didn't know this was something people did! Awesome!

Since that first time I came upon the site, I've read most pages I have access to, but for some reason or other I didn't register or post until today. I'm very excited to read all that other stuff, and to contribute to this community in any and every way I can.

Thank you for putting up all this info!

Best,
Bruno.
