How much grain do you need for 23 lts brew.Beersmith says 3700g pale malt 1000g munich 300g crystal, to give estimated 1036 I got 1032 and OG of 1044.My post boil gravity reading was only 1036 but all volumes were pretty close to beersmith estimates so where to start to get efficency up

Hi there benz and welcome to the forum ;),

I noticed that you were looking at the Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment... so might have seen I am a bit short on time tonight.

(BTW, I think the Calculator is a mandatory tool to learn how to use for many reasons. Don't be put off by its current simplicity.)

Just quickly, I think you have probably used a mash efficiency figure in BeerSmith2 rather than what they call their Brewhouse Efficiency. This is a really confusing area of BeerSmith and Pat has written a lot of information on how to get your head around this.

This post from Pat gives two links that I think you will need to study and that will answer your questions.

Let us know if you are still stuck after reading those.

:luck:

P.S. As you read along, you'll also realise a lot more info is needed in your first post for anyone to be able to help you out well so add that in as you go ;)
