New Zealand Wakatu hops in LloydieP's Krispy Kolsch?

Post #1 made 11 years ago
G'day, mates!

I am planning to brew LloydieP's Krispy Kolsch (http://www.biabrewer.info/download/file.php?id=2239). I was thinking about replacing the Hallertau hops with New Zealand Wakatu to get some lime flavor in the beer. Northern Brewer has its Wakatu listed with 6.5-8.5 AA%. Do you think this will be good?

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like an excellent plan Steve. I'm not very well clued up on Wakatu but I imagine your general plan is to use the Krispy Kolsch malt/yeast and fermentation schedule (pseudo-lager) to create a clean beer with a bit of citrus to it. Yum!!!

Well, here it is: LloydieP's Krispy Kolsch! I used NZ Pacifica hops as I couldn't get my hands on Wakatu. As PistolPatch predicted, this is a clean beer with a bit of an orangey finish to it. I am always amazed how good these BIAB recipes come out. Good on ya, mates  This will be a good session beer for the Superbowl on Sunday.

Yum!

Please do me a favour shetc and put a link in the main Krispy Kolsch thread (or just write a post there) so as we don't lose this variation.

Very pleased to hear it all worked out nicely.

:yum:

Hi Pat, having trouble finding the main Krispy Kolsch thread -- can you point me in the right direction?

There is no right thread to post this in atm Steve. The best place, so as it doesn't get lost, would be in this thread. We appreciate you following up on this shetc :salute:.
