Hi,
Alex, currently in Bedford.
Done extract, some sort of biab (with little planning/knowledge), and 2v all grain in cooler and keggle. Looking to simplify and excited by no chill. Came here to get bag designs and biabacus.

Hello all. I'm Phil, retired, from north of the North Island,New Zealand. Found BIAB some time ago while trawling through HB sites trying to find tips on equipment & how to improve my beer. I've brewed kits & extract and would like to move up to AG. I like the simplicity of BIAB so I'm getting my gear sorted and hope to be cooking soon. Cheers.

Hi,

I'm Paul from the US in Wisconsin just west of Milwaukee. Started brewing extract kits on the stove in a 5 gal. kettle about 6 months ago. Got a bayou burner and thought I would try BIAB. I saw a youtube demo after which I did some searching and ended up here. My wife teaches sewing so the bag will be free if I can live with pink. I work in the Environmental Health field. Here is hoping to learn from the group.

Hullo,

I'm from Yorkshire, UK, but i'm currently living in Wellington, NZ.

I've done one partial mash brew so far, my next is going to be an all grain BIAB brew. I'm thinking of doing a SMaSH.
I'm doing small scale brews (11 litre) as money and space are a bit tight.

I love hoppy beers, and can't wait to start making my own.

Welcome aboard Paul :salute:.

There are so many things going for you Paul - Milwauke, your wife and BIAB... when will it end?

If you learn nothing else from the group, you can learn how to play Cheesetradamus run by your fellow statesman BobBrews :dunno:. There actually lots to learn here, one of the main things can be keeping you on a clear path. For example, there are lots of BIAB videos out there that actually are not BIAB :nup:. Post a link and we can check it out.

Welcome to you as well Ed :peace:,

And, living in NZ - they have some great hops there suited to hop-driven beers. A Pom living among the Kiwis opens up a whole new range of possibilities :). East Kent Goldings with Nelson Sauvin???

Anyway, if possible, post your recipe plan up here before you brew so as someone can double-check it for you. 11 litres can be a really sensible way to go and will often allow you to brew more beer due to it being so much easier to do more often.

Hi everyone, I'm Tim from South Africa. I have been doing extraction brewing for the last couple of years and wanted to get into all grain. Heard a pod cast from BeerSmith talking about BIAB and so here I am. I like the idea of a simple set up with reduced foot print as space is of a premium for me.

looking forward to the learning curve. Life's a journey, enjoy the ride!

Hello - extract brewer here. Now looking into All Grain vs. Partial Mash vs. BIAB. BIAB looks interesting and I'm hoping to find more information. Not unhappy with extract but weighing out what I could get out of BIAB etc.

Greetings all ! This is my first post here. I read about this forum in "Zymurgy" magazine and was very intrigued. I have been brewing for about a year now. I started out as most of you probably did- hanging out in the pub, talking to the publican about the differences in styles and ingredients which made me want to learn more so I don't waste time drinking brews I don't like. :) Then we traveled to Belgium to try new styles and tour the breweries and pubs there.
I started out doing extract brewing, but recently transitioned into BIAB and kegging. I live in Tampa Bay and I'm part of a local brewers' club which helps a lot, but I want to teach myself more about the BIAB style.
I do have a day job, but hopefully someday my passion can turn into a career. I look forward to learning a lot from all of you in the near future.
Cheers !

Hello!

I'm Jaakko from Tuusula, Finland. I've been doing some extract brews and didn't like it that much so i decided to change to all-grain brewing and BIAB seemed to be the best option for me. Found the forum originally when i googled up for a recipe converter. After that, most of what i have read about beermaking is from this site :P I'm a mechanical engineering student specializing in machine automation and embedded systems(prolly the reason why i want to put automation into every project i build :D). I've found a lot of information from this site and i'm hoping to find even more! Cheers to everyone!

Hello! :) My first post here. I'm from Carrollton, Texas. I stumbled across this site during a search for more information about BIAB.

I became interested in brewing in 2011 after visiting the Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis, Missouri, and attending their beer school session. I received an extract brewing kit for Christmas that year and have brewed 10 batches since. This past June, I bought a BIAB kit and brewed my first all grain beer (Jake's CDA kit). I found a lot of areas I need to improve upon during the brewing process, but I was encouraged that the beer still came out so well. I'm excited about continuing to experiment and grow with my brewing.

Hi,

I am in Christchurch NZ and studying at university, having returned to studying in my middle years ;)
We now have a brewing course at uni running for the first time and we have been grain brewing with a three vessel setup. I have bought myself some BIAB kit to carry on at home and so delighted to find this site and all this lovely information. Really impressed with what I have found on the site so far  looking forward to getting in to it and enjoying some great brews. cheers Lyn

Welcome to the forum Lyn :salute:,

That's excellent that you are doing the brewing course. And you are also lucky to have access to all those great NZ beers :yum:.

Some bits of info are hard to find on the site at the moment but ask away and someone will dig up whatever you need.

Thank you. definitely will do. My husband has already crossed the ditch and is working in Victoria (Traralgon). I am due to follow when I finish studying next year and so I am looking forward to becoming acquainted with Aussie craft brewing too :)

Post #3822 made 12 years ago
I used to live in a little place called Yarragon for a few years, about 3/4 of the way to Traralgon from Melbourne. It was green all year round there, like NZ. (Not sure if Traralgon stays green though). The craft industry in Melbourne is really good plus you have a great shop there called Grain and Grape so you'll have no problems for supplies :peace:.

Was just trying to grab a spreadsheet in the 'self checkout' isle, but apparently I'm encouraged to communicate with other people first.

AAHHHHHH!! No!!

From sunny canberra, stumbled across the site quite often from the AHB site. It's a good site! I've brewed for many years, kit and kilos were my game for 40 odd brews. I've dabbled with all grain before, and I'm here to dabble again. Currently using BIAB in a 19L pot. Mash in the oven. Plenty to learn. About to pick up the 40l crown, so I'm excited to see how BIAB goes in that.

Welcome to BIABrewer AJM07;
If you are after the "calculator" it has been superceded by the "BIABacus", so I would recommend you try that first. :salute:
