Hello everyone, I'm from Goldendale, WA and my wife and I have been talking about getting into home brewing for years and we have finally decided to give it a go. I have been working on a keggle and came upon this site and we have decided biab will be the way to go. We have been doing lots of reading and the rest of our equipment is ordered so hopefully we will brew our first batch in the coming weeks and we look forward to being able to talk and learn from everyone here.

Hi my name is Alex and I'm a new homebrewer.

1. Where are you from?
Chicago, IL, USA

2. How did you stumble across the site?
My homebrewing friend sent me a link.

3. What you think of it so far?
Seems good, but there are a lot of steps required before I can start posting.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
I've done 3 extract brews and 2 BIAB brews

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I work for a major beer importer in the US, so I've been having fun trying to make my own. I'm looking forward to getting comfortalbe enough with the process where I can start tinkering with the recipe.

Good Day Frederick7, Welcome to the Forum.

Chicago used to one of largest brewing cities, so now they import beer, Interesting..

BIAB is a very easy way to brew, with the Minimal Equipment.

So, it's good the see your on the way.

You should be able to post, start new topics, download and upload any thing and everything.

If you have any questions or Comments, Just Post!

Evening, all.

I'm in Glasgow, and am still relatively new to homebrewing, having made a few extract beers over the last year. I'm hoping to give all-grain a go soon, and from what I've read so far, BIAB looks like the best way to go about it without buying lots of expensive kit. Besides, my small flat is cluttered with brewing/sewing/knitting equipment as it is!

I'm looking forward to having a beery hive-mind on hand to answer the inevitable newbie questions (and hopefully participating a bit more once I know what I'm doing).

Hello All, glad to be here.

1. Where are you from? Detroit MI, USA
2. How did you stumble across the site? Online searching for more BIAB info
3. What you think of it so far? So far, so good. Still digging to more info (particularly high gravity biab)
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? I've been brewing about two years. Started off pure extract on stove top, started using specialty grains, then went to all grain/BIAB about 18 months ago. My basic process is fairly locked in with this point, but I'm trying to fine tune the basics, and see if I can find some solutions to the issues I'm still having.

Hi. Um. Is this thing on?

I`ve been lurking for a month or so as I checked out the online world of homebrewing forums. Some crazy obsessed people out there in the homebrew world but that`s good ... a little obsession is a healthy thing. I`m an American but live in Germany with my German SWMBO and two teenage brats. I`m a biologist by nature, but early retired from working in several environmental labs performing the whole array of analytical water quality chemistry. (I already know this will come in handy.) Now we all know Germany has great beers but personally I MISTHEALES. Many Germans have no clue about the American Craft beer trend remembering only the taste of Bud or Coors. And in spite of excellent Hefeweizens, Pils and Export it is very difficult to get the flavor of a Pale Ale or an IPA here. I drink mostly Diebels Alt, Hefeweizen and Schwarzbier. I have a pet theory that Germans were so infatuated with the newfangled cooling technology and crystal clear Bier that they forgot how to brew with ale yeasts. That may be slowly changing...I hear my local brewery is going to start doing a seasonal Pale Ale. But that`s still very unusual in the land of Einheitsbiers. So my wifey gave me the funds to build my brewing system for a Christmas gift. After looking at the local online HBS sites for ingredients and discussions with my brother in the states, a long time extract homebrewer, I have decided to totally skip the extract step and go straight to AG BIAB. When I first read about BIAB it was just slap on the side of the head obvious that it is my way to go. I want to do relatively small volumes (around 10 liters) but get it down so I can do it relatively easily and often. Now if that doesn`t explain why I already love this site, I am at a loss for words. So there... that should be enough to convince you I am not a Spambot of some sort. Gday.

Hello from sunny Southern California!

I've done a few extract batches, and caught the brewing bug hard. I'm looking to move to batches smaller than the usual 5gal so that I can brew more often. BIAB seems like a good way to move to all-grain at the same time, without requiring a lot of equipment upgrades.

Can't wait to get started!

I don't often get time to read this thread but, when I do, I am always delighted!

The site lay-out etc is getting a major over-haul. Any of us working on it are a bit embarrassed about the current info. Glad you found some gold.

Can't believe you are a spambot! :o

Hello. I live in Chicago and I've been extract brewing for about 2 years. I just tried a BIAB batch that I sort of put together based on some podcasts and other sites. Decided I was hooked and wanted to get on here to improve my brewing. Looking forward to reading what others have to say and helping out when I can.

Slainte!

Hello from Pennsylvania. Been extract brewing for almost a year now and am looking for a new challenge. Found this the best way to go to all grain w/o buying tons of new equipment. My propane burner and 42 qt pot are on the way!

Cheers
