The Worlds biggest Trivia contest!

Post #1 made 12 years ago
Fellow Brewers I need your help!

April 19th - April 21st 2013 is the date for the worlds largest trivia contest. 54 continuous hours of good music and fun questions. My team (Baby Boomers and Boomers Babies) needs help. All I am asking is that if you are on the internet during those days. Spend some time listening to the music and sending me the answer if you know it? Look at this link below to see the Hollywood movie trailer about the contest.

The local college has been doing this for 44 years. They raise money to keep the radio station on air. (The contest got out of hand) Most of the time the questions are about Movies, TV, Books, world events? Some questions are hard and some are easy? With the internet most people can find an answers even if the question is obtuse. The music is from the 50's thru the 70's, mostly classic stuff. The team names are more fun than anything else. Obscene and quirky.

Their are international teams but I am asking you to help my team because between my six kegs of beer and gallons of coffee we will be unconscious after a short while and we need help for 54 continues hours. I will have a password protected database with the pictures on it. (password coming) They cannot be open to the public. Facebook and public media cannot be used or your team will be disqualified. Thank you!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKrzJlxVYg4 Movie Trailer of the contest. I bought the movie!

Here is my team in action http://www.stempski.com/ look at the video from last year!

I will set up a IM (Instant Message) and edit it back here when I figure how to do it?

Here is a link to the website http://www.90fmtrivia.org/

The radio station's link to listen live is here http://www.uwsp.edu/wwsp/Pages/default.aspx

What a great contest it is! Well, really not a contest, but more of an event! I never was on a team during my years at Stevens Point, but I did drink my share of beer with friends on student teams....I think...lots of beer if I remember correctly...but considering the amount of beer flowing around during those days, I prolly don't remember....correctly :sneak:

Bob,
I did gurgitate from UWSP at about Trivia 22 (1991). Spent 1 summer around Sunset Lake as a matter of fact, but I never brewed any beer on it! (pretty sure I did do a bit of ice fishing on it though.)I'm from Green Bay.

PP,

It starts Friday evening here. AT 6PM I think? I won't be able to post questions because they are sometimes long. Just listen in. The links are in the above posts for listening live! No time to type except to look for answers! 54 continuous hours you have time to listen.

Okay so it starts 6am Sat morning my time which is in 12 hours!!!!

Is anyone else helping your team out or is it just me? I will answer all the BIAB questions - I assume there will be a lot :interesting: ?

:P Anyway Bob, I know you are busy at your end so I'll try and post some stuff here and ask for answers if appropriate. Bear in mind that I have no idea if that offer is useful. I suppose we'll soon find out :peace:.

Anyone who has a answer must send me a IM or whatever they call it. rstempski@hotmail.com is the address I think for messenger? Microsoft is changing over to Skype so since BobBrews is my Skype address I am not sure what is happening? I guess I will have to test it out? It starts in ten hours and I am still shopping for "Junk Food" and assorted brands of strong coffee and legal "Uppers" of any kind.

Of course I didn't sleep well last night! I have a radio wired into a laptop to record the questions. We used to just listen to them but we always would argue as to what he was actually asking. One person just records the question and replays it a few times so we eliminated lost time waiting for the question to be repeated again between questions.

For anyone who is going to be able to listen in at the beginning. The first hour (of 54) has some rules and information read so there is less than the usual 8 questions per hour. They start off with some weird music and then play the traditional starting song "Born to be wild". The first question always has the answer of Robert Redford! :smoke: It's the traditional test question to stress the phone system. It's hard to phone in the answer and there are so many correct answers that the question is generally worth 0 points?

Once all that crap is done the work begins. A question, a song, repeat the question, play a song and then repeat the question with the answer. They delay the point totals by three hours so you won't know how many points you receive for hour one until hour three. Or is it two hours? They do post your points on the web so you can see if you got credit but they are not real regular on getting them posted. It depends on the number of volunteers available.

Thanks to anyone who helps. I will have Skype active but I don't have anytime to bullshit so if you skype me I will apologize now because I will be rude and cut you off so that I can phone in your answer! We will have at least seven laptops running and I can't waste bandwidth with Skype. I hope you understand?

If you want to see how we are doing go to the websites to see the latest scores. Our team is. "Baby Boomers and Boomers Babies Year 17" It may seem like a stupid name but as you read the other team names it will then seem ordinary. Look to the first post on this thread for links. Thanks again Brewers!

When I read that I thought, "Between Yeasty and myself we have this licked!" But, but, but not one question in physics, bar fights or BIAB yet. What the...?

And, all the questions are in American :o.

Anyway Bob, I ran the images from the Trivia Times through Google images and was able to add a couple of names and links to a couple of the photos. (Links are in metric though so convert before clicking on them okay?)

Hour 35 and I am getting tired! I have never eaten so much food or drank so many varied drinks. The beers are flowing nicely and the wines and hard liqure is holding it's own. Caffine is my best friend. With 3 differnt dogs wandering around and people sleeping on various spots on the floor and furniture you have to watch your step.

I have to go my shift is due.

Bob, finally got to watch the video - you are the man!

Next year I am going to devote more time to this but I want some assurances first....

1. Will the same girls be there to skype with me? (They said they were your daughters but they had hair and were gorgeous-looking so I assume they were liars as well. No matter, I like likable liars!)

2. Think, think, think??? Nup, number 1 is the only assurance needed.

Trivia is great fun. Make sure you get those girl's names and sign them up for Cheesetradamus as well!!!!

PistolPatch,

My daughters that Skyped with you said you were good looking and witty! I have made appointments with the eye doctor and a psychologist for them! That being aside. They will be there again as they love my "Fish Pee" brewed on the frozen lake. I think the girls finished off two kegs on their own! (I am so proud)!

They all play "Cheese"! Bobsprotege, Avaevey, Lisa is Awesome, psk1030! :smoke:

Thanks again! You accounted for a lot of points! :champ: Next year get a mob of your cronies a few laptops and a keg! You can have a Trivia party of your own!

PP,

Actually I am devoid of witticisms myself. I feel as flat as my beer! The Seasons have changed (finally) and the weather is nice. Everyone is out and about getting their homes ready for none stop partying. Schools we be letting the inmates graduate and the graduation and wedding season will begin. Fishing season starts this upcoming weekend and of course "Mothers Day" .

I expect the forum will slowdown a bit from the USA side. We have asked for warm weather and now we will be complaining that it is too hot! I have two beers fermenting away and I may brew today? Yesterday I put the pump in the pond and hooked up the peeing boy to thrill the ladies. The concrete cherub recirculates water but he just makes me want to pee.

Ta Ta for now!
