Hey Guys,

Just Finding a place to call my own on here, I'd like to just post my random updates, I plan on building a bit of a BIAB Rig, with a stand and all that kind of stuff and kind of use this space to Blog a bit about what I'm brewing, few pics and stuff and obviously any other brewing kind of things that are happening.

I'm pretty New to brewing, and only done my first BIAB the other day, but im the kind of person who will throw myself right in and learn as much about it all as i can and i'm also very DIY and i enjoy making stuff.

I made my Bag myself even though i could have went to my LHBS and got one for $10-15, instead i spent 3 or so hours Pinning out and then fighting with the missus's sweing machine that she got as a hand me down from her mum and has never even looked at.....

Im pretty sure its from the 60's or 70's, but i got it out and youtubed up how to use it, and at the end made a bag.

Other Gear i'v got Loitering around the garage is a 35L aluminium Brew pot (Hand me down from a brewing mate), 2 ring burner, a Bucket HLT with a 2400w element in it i can use this to heat strike water or sparge water if needed, At the moment my Solar Hotwater system is putting out 71c water on a warm day so theres not much heating to do.......

I'v seen a few home made Grain Crushers around, while id like to make one i think i would just buy a crusher and make a hopper & catcher for it as well as motorise it, i think getting a good crush is vital so its not somthing i'd like to mess around with too much.

at the moment i'm no chilling, however i'd like to build a chiller soon & i'm still bottling for now hoping to get some gear to setup a small keggarator type thing, but i'm going to have to wait for some extra funds to do that.

I love to share what i do, and i'm always up for giving people a hand when i can.... i dont mind getting out meeting brewers and sharing a brew here n there i guess thats all part of the hobby....

Cheers!
Cheerz,

Jamey

Welcome fellow brewer. I am pretty new myself. I am positive that you will find everything you need here. Since my first posts, brewers such as Mad scientist, pistol patch , Mally, and Bob brews have helped me tremendously. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. A couple of things I learned a little too late that Might help, others is :
1. Read the Biab brewer essentials and master guide
2. If you need a recipe. Choose a beer style or even brand and these guys can use the Biabicus to help you tailor a recipe to your equipment. This is what I did for my second brew. I wanted a Rouge dead guy clone and MS had already designed one. He simply put the dimensions of my kettle into the Biabicus and out pops a detailed recipe to fit my exact setup.
3. Check out this website, they have some really great pod casts to listen to while your driving or whenever. One Bob brews recommend ( ps I just recently found out he has a you tube channel)

I am obviously still very impressed with this forum and all of the knowledge here. I think you will be also.

Good idea Jamey :peace:. I'll enjoy reading what you post here and will jump in if I think I can offer anything of value.

One thing that stood out in your post above and that I have written a bit (not that much) on, is the decision to buy a grain mill. If you start a new thread, something like, "Is buying a grain mill sensible?", I think we could explore this in a bit more detail.

:peace:
