Good Day, Not trying stir up anything, But, In America it is common to be dropped from a Forum, if you don't contribute, or ask a question for 6 or more weeks. It save Server Memory and for those who have lost interest, there will be no problems. Re-appliing is not much of a problem either.

When we re-write the front of the site for the BIABacus, we'll look at automating a few things like the above josh. We'll probably automatically lower someone's rank for every three months that they are inactive or don't post depending on their rank. We'll also probably have ads but these would be invisible for Enthusiasts or those that support the development of the site or the BIABacus.

Cheers,
Pat

One trick spammers use is to post profile links.

Profile display should be disabled for guests (if it isn't already), which will make thei profile spam useless

I don't post anywhere near that frequently but I visit the site a few times a week. Unfortunately I don't get to brew as often as I'd like but I love this forum and the info on it. It wud be a pain in the a$$ to keep getting dropped for inactivity. Whatever you guys do to resolve spamming issues please consider users like me

Thanks

L

Stux, I think the last time we had the spam problem, we tried to prevent mewly registered users from displaying a website but it proved to be not as easy as we hoped. This is definitely on the to do list though.

Lars, don't worry, you wouldn't be dropped from the forum unless you didn't visit for three months. Also, if you had done at least one post, you'd automatically re-activate when you visited again. An active poster, as in someone who does so many posts per three months, would also be restored once they re-attained their average. So, we'll make sure that users who simply read the forum are not penalised.

Thanks for your comments,
Pat
