Brew music

Post #1 made 13 years ago
It's 7.30 on a Saturday morning and I'm starting to brew. The house is quiet, the kids and SWMBO are asleep and I'm in my brewery (shed). Currently I'm mashing and selecting the music for brewday.

It got me thinking what other brewers listen to whilst brewing. Being an aging hippy I will be listening to some old Pink Floyd first and then raise the tempo during the boil.

What do you listen to?

Even though I'm a classic rock fan... Liquid Tension Experiment's "Acid Rain" seems quite a good choice to get those alpha acids converted  Followed by Frankenstein, by Edgar Winter to set the pace for other classics

Hi Adman,
Awesome topic...brewing while listening to music combines two of my favourite things!!
Pink Floyd is a common choice for me too, but recently I have moved to Flaming Lips cover of Dark Side Of The Moon. It's a great tribute to an awesome album, and you can just let it play all the way through.
I also like a bit of Black Keys Thickfreakness or Soundgarden Superunknown :drink: .

I listen to my mp3 player while brewing but I listen to pod cast's of brewing shows. Basic Brewing Radio and the Brewing Network programs. Whatever beer I am brewing there is a show dedicated to it to help me understand the beer. Sometimes it's just question and answer stuff but it all works for me. It keeps me in the mood to brew!

I like some of Pink Floyd but I have listened to all kinds of music during my life, currently it is country music and most recently a singer named Jamie Johnson. He is kind of a throw back to the early days of country music and different from all the new country singers. Here is a real good one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg78vd0vj3A

Another successful brewday completed and in recognition of BIABs place of origin I finished off with vintage AC/DC.

Happy days.

I'll be starting my brew day around 5:00 PM this evening (too warm to brew during the heat of the day), I'm thinking I'm in the mood for some Cajun/Zydeco for this evening's brew session.

It's got to be heavy and loud for me. I brew when the missus is out and I have the place to myself. No neighbours and a big powerfull stereo.....

The smooth classy Jazz/Fusion can wait. It's Prog or Purple or Heep or Sabbath on a brew day.

Oh, and if I'm in a nostalgic mood, it's got to be Chisel or The Oils :smoke:

Jimmy Buffet was playing bars in Columbia, SC when I was going to college there. I and my whole family have always been huge fans.

Totally off topic. I humbly apologize to ADMAN. -- In another life, my crew (USAF B-52) found ourselves in downtown Las Vegas (from Edwards AFB). I saw a sign that read, "Free Buffet". In my youthful ignorance I shouted, "Sweet! Get to see Jimmy for free?" After an awkward silence; I sheepishly slumped back into the limo seat and said, "oh... Food Buffet".

Love to play a bit of Tankard when I'm brewing. It helps me to clear the house - the rest of the family cannot stand thrash metal. I normally start my brewday with "Ugly, Fat and Still Alive" :champ: and end it with "Die with a beer in your hand" :shoot:
