Beer Fast.

Post #1 made 13 years ago
All,

Just to let you now. I have been on a "BeerFast" since May 15th. I have only consumed beer and water for the last seven days. I did have a bit of hop leaf in a homebrew and I spit it out! That shows how committed I am to beer and water! My doctor said that I was too heavy (fat) and had to change my eating habits. After I told him that I was a home brewer and that I drank a lot of beer he said "you have to cut back on your drinking or give up eating food?" So I gave up food!

In the last seven days I have lost eleven pounds (4.99) Kilos. :champ: This coming Monday is "Memorial Day" dedicated to all the veterans who gave their lives for us during wars. I feel compelled not to spoil the "Holiday?" for SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) Because in our neck of the woods this is the start of Summer! We Have barbeques, Picnics, parades, family gatherings and whatnot? I will break my fast for this day but I may continue to BeerFast afterwords! I have to get in shape so that I may keep up with Shibolet at the National Homebrewers Conference in Seattle USA! I hear he can put it away!!!!!!

Wish me luck! I am drinking four bottles a day and five on Saturday and Sunday. Massive amounts of water in between! Most of the weight loss is from the exercise of running to the toilet! (or a wastebasket which ever comes first)?

Where is the weight coming off? I need to lose the beer belly but that's a tough spot to get the fat off. A beer Fast huh? Hmmm....

Please keep us posted.

The beer belly is a myth! If you didn't drink beer and substituted beer with something equivalent you would have the same belly! Men store fat in their gut! Fact not Fiction! As a self proclaimed know-it-all I have been very successful with Atkins low carb. For men who like meat it's the way to go! I have been very satisfied with the results. The only problem is that beer is verboten! I had cut back on beer but beer club meetings were tough!

So here I am retired (working out of the home) so why not try BeerFast? So my weight is melting off evenly but my wife said last night "I notice your belly is flatter and your butt is smaller"? Honest! The more fat in your gut the more you stand to loose? I read the book Diary of a part time Monk. http://oldlinepublishingllc.com/index_f ... Wilson.htm

He has a website http://brewvana.net/ This gentleman was known world wide in his quest to drink beer and lose weight! I bought the E-Book for 4.99 US Good read but the guy is super religious so I had to bypass that nonsense!

Oh come on Bob! I've seen The videos. You have to just be starting to thaw out. Is that lake really warm enough to swim in by now?

Hey BB, serious question: How do you avoid succumbing to the "beer munchies" and ruing your diet?

Hmm don't know if my workplace would appreciate me downing a few for lunch :P
Do you have to take vitamins or something to offset what you are missing from fruit/veg etc?

PP,
And Clinton didn't inhale! :shoot:
I believe him!! When I was in Vietnam the stuff was rampant! The guys offered it to me and I "faked it" (Just like my wife does now) I didn't want to seem like a square by refusing pot. So I puffed a little and blew it out! I acted so stupidly anyway they thought I was stoned all the time!

thughes,
Hey BB, serious question: How do you avoid succumbing to the "beer munchies" and ruing your diet?
I have my biggest beer mug by my side all F*cking day! I have ice water! I put a few drops of (lemon, lime or vinegar?) to change it up. Honestly its mind games and will power! If you tell yourself that you have just been chosen to (fantasy time) Play football, act in a movie, fly in space, whatever your fantasy is you need to fool yourself into believing it can be true! You actually must give yourself a selfish reason to make you stop eating. Here is a generic reason that will work for most men. Your wife is trying to give you a heart attack from being overweight because she wants to have an affair with some guy you hate at work! You have a reason to not eat! (Actuality if you let them run away together that bastard would suffer!) This is all mind games.

I know that this sounds stupid but most people have no motivation except that they are overweight and feel embarrassed. My mind trick is simply this. I want to live long enough to become a burden on my children! That will teach them!

Ziggybrew,

The temperature is 86F 30C during the day and 36F 2.22 at night. Roller-coaster time? I have wadded out in the ponds (to plant water lily's) in my yard and the water was "refreshing" to say the least. Actually good sleeping at night and comfortable during the day!

deebo,
Do you have to take vitamins or something to offset what you are missing from fruit/veg etc?
I drink Doppelbock, Oatmeal stout, Russian stout? These are rich and filling beers. No summer coolers here. Beer is liquid bread! I get 700 0r 800 calories a day! By chance I did take a men's vitamin this morning! They have been sitting around (because they are as big as golf balls) and I thought what the heck? Use them up!
Hmm don't know if my workplace would appreciate me downing a few for lunch :P
Have a doppelbock or some other stout for breakfast. At lunch (if you can?) go out to have a rich beer. At home have a beer with water for supper and finally a stout for a bed time treat. You of course must drink water all day and spend a lot of time peeing!

PistolPatch,
You really should be committed, sorry commended, for this Bob.
Funny PP, but I am "committed" right now? Later on this year I might be committed by my wife!

BeerFast up date!

12 days without food! Not a bite. The closest thing to food I had was a breath mint when I went shopping. I didn't want to offend my mates at the brew shop! in 12 days I have lost 15 lbs. or 6.8 Kilos. I expect to go 3 or 4 more days? I have so many guests coming over for the next two months that I don't want to spoil there fun or mine! since the beginning of 2012 I have lost 37 lbs. or 16.8 kilos.

Here is the recipe for my diet. Drink 4 or 5 bottles of beer each day and treat yourself to an extra bottle on the weekends. Drink water in between beers. I hate to use numbers like that but I need to!

Can't believe you broke the diet with a breath mint Bob. Start again.

Are there certain styles to avoid? Does pale ale bring on anaemia for example?

I thought you would have lost a lot more than 37 lbs from your kegs . Surely, thats per week .

Keep up the good work ;).

PP,
I do regret the breath mint but my mates didn't. Pale ale does not bring on anemia. It brings you another step closer to inebriation. I bought some Doppelbock from my friend who owns a brewery. I have been using that beer for a nightcap. I went spur of the moment on this beer-fast and didn't have a real rich beer except the black ale on nitro.

I will end my fast tomorrow because we have the SWMBO birthday coming up and the (mother-mother-in-laws) coming up on consecutive weekends. NHC in Seattle and 4th of July celebrations. I will be watching what I eat but I am not going to cut back on my drinking! If I cut back on my drinking how could I put up with all the social crap I have to do?

I would like to be under 200 lbs. (90 Kilos). I figure I could get a buzz quicker and cheaper than when I was 272 lbs. (123 kilos). Hey I am only losing weight to save money and make it easier for me to pick up chicks at the NHC in Seattle. I hope Shibolet doesn't scare the girls away?

I know you don't like numbers much Bob but I just worked out that if you had 10 glasses a day you would have lost 74 lbs this year instead of that measly 37 lbs.

Would you like me to do a calculator for you - BobBrew's Beer Diet Calculator? With some advanced formulas I reckon I could work out how many glasses you'd have to drink if say you wanted to lose 37 lbs in a single day.

PP,
Thanks for your effort! You have enough on your plate right now so I won't expect it done right away!! Take your time. Have lots of colors and dew-dads! Ha!Ha!

Today I will gradually begin eating again. Only a egg today but maybe two tomorrow? I will lose weight still (I hope) so the diet goes on but BeerFast will be over for now. I will do it again after summer subsides. I expect to be down 18 pounds when the BeerFast is completed. That is a lot of weight in two weeks. If I can hold my weight (or lose) during the summer than BeerFast will raise again. This time I will have a beer brewed for it a doppelbock or something like that!

Last night we had a Black Bear having a go at my bird feeders. The bears are moving South do to overpopulation. I can definitely say they are on my lake now!

Hahaha! I think this place is actually on the Gold Coast in Australia where I used to live. It's a bar in the middle of a shopping mall in Robena if I remember correctly. I'be had a few beers there ;).

Ziggy, the BIABAcus developers and beta testers are looking at putting a BobBrew's diet tab into the BIABcus. We are trying to convince BIABrewer.info this will be just another of many 'firsts' seen in brewing software. For some reason they are stalling on allowing its inclusion. I have no idea why?

If they don't approve it Bob, I'll see if I can write a special one for you as it is quite important I think.

:)

Well being just short of 100kg  I thought I'd give Bobs Beer Fast diet a go.

I had a light breakfast of just one beer then two for dinner and one at afternoon break. I must say I felt great all day. Unfortunatly my boss didn't agree and I have been given the sack !! shame really as I loved driving that bus.

:idiot:

Yeasty
