First BIAB & All-Grain

Post #1 made 15 years ago
Brewed my first BIAB yesterday. I brewed a Dunkelweizen, in honor of my dog Dunkel. Everything went fairly well. It took a little practice learning temperature control on my new burner. The calculator worked great, and I was left with exactly the desired amount of wort. The projected ABV was 1.049 (I ended up a little over 1.046). Thanks to everybody for their input and work on this forum!

Good on you Rifester :salute:

That's a very neat looking set-up you have there. Glad to hear all went well. Looks like Dunkel wants a beer :P

Let us know how it ends up tasting.

:peace:

Thanks. I am very happy with this set up. The kettle is about 40 litres. It worked out well for my 5 gallon batch, even though I almost had my first boil over, caught it by a split second.

40 litres should be heaps for a bog standard 5 gallon brew.

I use a 50 litre modified keg and have never had a boil over. I thought it was just a myth. It must depend on your pot size, or the way you hold your tongue :)

Good Day, I had a 20liter Kettle to do Half Batches (11L) and it boiled over continously, I changed to a 32L and have not had a boil over since.
