:champ: Congratulations BBH, you'll get used to no sleep  but it is definately worth it. I've got two girls 3 and 5, so I'm sure I'm going to have a lot more sleepless nights in the future
Again congrats and I'll have a celebratory beer for you and your family.

All the best to you and your wife BBH.

As per others comments, get used to no sleep. Our eldest is 16 and we still struggle for a full night's sleep, although for different reasons now!

Much thanks!!

One of the things my wife is looking forward to is being able to drink a beer again. I brewed her a witbier and got it bottled last weekend. Hopefully it meets her expectations. Then again, I could give her some BMC and she might be satisfied :yum:

Great news BBH

Just found the following advice (on the net  ) re 'Natural Remedies for Breastfeeding.'
Hops (Humulus lupulus) is another old remedy. It is especially for mothers of twins who need lots more milk. Hops tea is a suitable accompaniment to nighttime feedings, as it brings sleep along with increased milk flow. Hops is also used in beer, which tastes better than the tea. No more than one high-quality, additive‑free beer, such as Guiness Stout, per day is fine. For those who wish to avoid alcohol, there are alcohol-free brews rich in hops and malt available.
:P.
Take it easy and best wishes to all in your new family,
PP

P.S. I think it is okay for Elliot to start washing bottles at 4 years of age ;).

Thanks again everyone.

We brought Elliot home from the hospital today and so far everything has gone well. As I'm typing, it's 2am and he's getting a little mid-night snack :) , but he has just slept for 2.5 hrs straight, so I'm happy.

During the Superbowl last night, my wife had half of the witbier I brewed for her. She poured a glass (pale straw color, cloudy from suspended yeast with a beautiful white head lasting through to the last sip) took a drink, looked up at me and said, "Perfect." I asked what she wanted to change about it and she said, "Nothing". So while she might be acting a little generous and influenced by the fact that this is her first drink in 9 months, I think the beer is a success. Better yet for her, I don't like wheat beers, so she has the whole batch to herself.

Hey all!! I've been gone for a little while, caught up in the game of life, and looks like we've done some growing around here. Thought I'd re-introduce myself to some of the newer guys/girls that have joined the forum since I've been gone. Life is starting to get a little more manageable and I'm hoping I can spend a little more time hanging out here.

Here's the little man and me (and the stupid freakin cat) hangin out on the couch planning out my first beer since he had been born. You'll notice "How to Brew" in my right hand, "Designing Great Beers" on the arm of the couch, my brewing notebook next to me, and The Calculator on the laptop screen.

And our first brew day together. You can tell that he's really enjoying himself :) We made, what I called, an "Off the Cuff IPA". Basically threw in all the hops that I had in the freezer from previous beers with 100% Maris Otter. Turned out OK. Had sort of a harsh bitterness and a little fusel alcohols (didn't control ferm temps too well).

Look forward to getting back into the swing of things around here :drink:

That kid will turn out all right. :-)
Thanks!

In hindsight, getting him so close to hot water was probably not a good idea. But it was more of a "get a quick picture of his first brew day, then lay him down for a nap" kind of thing. Plus, that damn thing hurts my back...

Welcome to the club.
For me it's more of an automatic motion as soon as I start holding him, no matter what time of day, no matter where I'm at.

If by "cool cat" you mean "bane of my existence", then yes, she's cool :shoot:

Yeah, I think Elliot did a quick glance of the length of the post and thought "to hell with this..." and promptly fell asleep
