Good on you ukb ,

Sounds like everything went smoothly - nice. On your next one, I reckon use less crystal for this style. Don't forget to write down what you used (including the bloody AA% of your hops ) as, if you are like most of us brewers, in a week's time you'll have forgotten what you did :P.

What hop bill did you end up using by the way? If this beer turns out well, we might want to copy it :drink:,

i made a list/plan before hand ..
cant turn it round on photobucket .. it wont save...
Image
i will do a full run down of the brew, and post,

i used 50g of fuggles at the start of boil
and 30g of bobek at the last 10 mins..

i used the empty grain bag, to boil the hops with it weighted down with a dinner plate ..
gave lots of room for the hops to swim and i could stir them every so often..

i may well use cascade to dry hop when i ferment ..

it is very brown ..tbh

i will probably do the next brew minus the crystal and possibly hoppier..

ive put the brew into a cube...
now that was a new experience 22l of near boiling water in a plastic jerry can and it took around 6 hrs to cool down..

cant wait for the next one..

one tip ...
i will top up the mash water with a couple of kettle fulls of boiling water to get it hotter quicker

thanx for everyones input ..

this brew [my 1st ] is done and in a keg...

the good points
everything went well and it tastes ok,
it smells great ...
no off flavors or infections,

the bad point ...

i ended up with nearer 7 gallons of beer,
so it is diluted from the original reciepe, it has a slight taste of hops and may not be very strong,

ive kegged and will see how it develops,
it tastes like a watery lager with some hop taste

i will do this again soon making sure i end up with nearer 5 gallons,

ive really enjoyed all of this first biab,
and look forward to making many more.. :peace:
