M First Leftovers Recipe!

Post #1 made 14 years ago
Hi all,

I hate waste! Keen to use up some leftover grain/hops but am relatively inexperienced at making my own recipes. Your opinions would be much appreciated! I use a Maxi-Biab method with a 19L brew pot. I've got lots of Torrified Wheat too, shall I try to include it? Hmmm. I'd like it to be quite hop flavour heavy which is why I'm adding most of the hops at the end.

Good Day, the recipe looks fine. The wheat can be added to almost any recipe up to 500g, It will add a bit of bread flavor and a lot of head to the beer.

Shame to waste those wonderful Amarillo's by using them as bittering hops. I'd throw all the Cascades in at 60 minutes and split the Amarillo, half at 20 minutes and the rest a 5 minutes. Not sure what that does to the IBU's (too lazy to work it out at the moment) but I'm not a fan of anything much over @ 35 IBU's anyway and I love that Amarillo flavor and aroma. My .02

I'm not the best recipe designer by a long shot - I steal everyone else's so don't listen to me too much...

Looks like you have heaps of amarillo available. I'd just go...

25 grams of amarillo at 60 minutes
15 grams of amarillo at 20 minutes
5 grams of cascade at 20 minutes
15 grams of amarillo at 2 minutes
5 grams of cascade at 2 minutes

:peace:

I love amarillo late hop aroma

I'd split your 5 minute addition into a 5 and 0 minute addition. Mmmmm

500g of wheat is always good :)
