Looking up ladies dresses?

Post #1 made 11 years ago
After spending over a week trying to find *voile material here in rural Italy to make a bag I showed a picture of a bag to a lady in a fabric shop, I should be looking up ladies dresses she said!! I was a little confused but after a bit more explanation in Italian, not my native language, it transpired that she meant that this type of fabric is used to "puff up" ball gowns and wedding dresses. Yesterday I went to a wedding dress makers and bought enough fabric for two gallon bags for a few euro, tonight I machined them up. (thanks mr.jadkowski for the maths and bionut for the spreadsheet to work out the shape.) Attached is a picture. They look OK, to me, and are 100% polyester. I practiced the stitching on the off-cuts first and made two sock shaped things, on the left. Could I use them to put the hops in and tie them up for the boil, or should I just throw them away? The bag was the last part of the kit I needed so hope to be a first timer tomorrow or soon after. Thanks for all the info on the forum.

Graham

*(There is no voile material as no one has curtains, all the windows have wooden shutters inside instead, hence no voile.)

(The bottle of Duvel is the last one I need to drink to have 12 empty for my first brew, it been tough but I have now finished the 12 bottles in the case.)

Hi Graham,

I am looking to move to Sicily soon, do you have any recommended suppliers that you could pass on.

I have most of the kit, but will need a good supplier for Grain and Hops, any info, gratefully received

Thank you

Hi Yettiman,

I had a bit of a run around getting malt, then when I collected it from a shop I saw a box on the side from Mr Malt. I have not ordered from them yet but they have been very professional in answering my questions.

When I order from them, soon, I will let you know how it goes. But for now here is the website.

Hope you enjoy Sicily.

Really well done N-M-P, nice threadwork there!

Only thing I would mention is that at some point in the future you may want to put some handles or something on the bags.
If you get into higher gravity brews it makes it just that little bit easier.
