Sara Carters Bombay IPA (Jaipur Clone)

Post #1 made 12 years ago
I have just brewed this, i dont know how to fit this into the biabacus so i guestimated. I have a 70 liter boiler and started with 33ltrs of water.

Its just come out of the fermenter and i am really impressed.

60 minute mash,@ 65c then 90 minute boil.

5100g Pale Malt
180g Vienna Malt

Amarillo 6g @ 75 mins from end of boil
Centennial 14g @ 75 mins from end of boil
Chinook 8g @ 75 mins from end of boil

Amarillo 6g @ 45 mins from end of boil
Centennial 13g @ 45 mins from end of boil
Chinook 7g @ 45 mins from end of boil

Amarillo 32g @ Flameout 30 mins steep
Centennial 43g @ Flameout 30 mins steep
Chinook 43g @ Flameout 30 mins steep

i used hop flowers not pellets

23ltrs target O.G. 1.055
EBU 55

depending on how rapid a boil you get maybe more water is needed. I started with 33ltrs and it wasnt enough for 23 ltrs into the fermenter (so i added 2 litres of fizzy water) for next brew i will try 36 ltrs to begin with

I say it again, its stunning out of the fermenter, i cant wait to try it out of the bottle, i am going to brew it again in 2 days time, this wont last long.

(now sorry to PP for not adding all the detail, i hope with some help this can be a perfect biabacus recipe)

This popped up a while back, and I gave an attempt to create a workable BIABacus file (mostly because I brew my IPA's this way already, and it was right up my alley).

See this thread.

In the end, I'm mostly guessing since the recipe posted did not give nearly enough information to recreate it with confidence.

1 What are the internal dimensions of your boiler?
2 Is that 23L target the end of boil target, volume in fermenter target or packaged beer target?
3 What is EBU? I know IBU and EBC. Must be IBU I think.
4 What are the AA% ( alpha acid ) of your hops

Change the kettle dimensions in section B to match your boiler. Also the VIF to suit your needs.

Fill in the AA% Alpha acid of the hops you are using in section D.
