After you lift the bag, you naturally want to get as much liquid out as practical.
Someone said they got a lot more runnings by holding the bag up, than by placing it in a colander.
Another person said what they do is place the bag in a plastic bucket, suspended so its not touching the bottom, and press it against the side with a pot lid.
Others say they place the bag on top of a grill/grate, not a colander.
Another said they press the bag with a pot lid.
Another said they press the bag with a water plastic pitcher, it allows more targeted pressure.

How do you get as much wort out of the grains after lifting the bag?

This works well for me.I just found 2 matching buckets and drilled a bunch 1/2 inch of holes into the bottom,I lift the bag clear of the wort and hold for a bit until the some fast running wort runs out, then tilt the bucket combo over the kettle and drop the bag in.The first couple were a little messy but no big deal.Another person said what they do is place the bag in a plastic bucket, suspended so its not touching the bottom, and press it against the side with a pot lid.
I then set it on the ground, five it a good squeeze and let it drain for a while before adding it back to my ramping wort.

I don elbow-length neoprene gloves and then squeeze heck out of the bag as it hangs over the kettle.

I found that adding $2 bucks more grain, letting the bag drain over the pot for 10 minutes and throwing the grain in the bin works perfectly. Its like bargining in bali, after 10 minutes you realise you've been negotiating over 10 cents and you've wasted 10 minutes worrying about it.

+1 on Aces High!
It's natural to try to squeeze every last drop out. In the long run it's really not worth the time or effort to get sticky and burn yourself for 2 cents of wort! I have done it in the past and once in a great while I will do it again. Let gravity drip it into the pot and then use it for dog biscuits, bread or horse feed!
