Hey everyone,

I'm from San Diego and I am just getting into brewing. I actually bought a set of equipment used and it came with a BIAB recipe for a hibiscus honey wit that will be going into bottles tomorrow. I'm a big fan of the beer scene in San Diego and look forward to trying some creations of my own.

Hi,

I'm a new BIAB brewer from Maryland. Been brewing about a year now and wanted to do all grain, but without the equipment. Figured I would try BIAB. About to do my first run very soon. Just got on the site, but have learned a lot just reading posts of others. Thanks to all who contribute.

Cheers,

Morning all
Names Dave and I'm returning to brewing after along break. UST to kit brew but after many disappointing results I gave up. This time around going all grain and thought your way of brewing sounded good. First brew will just be maris otter and cascade, and only doing 10 litres as that's all I can fit in the pot ( 12 litre pot) If it turns out ok and proves the Mrs wrong I will invest in a proper setup

Hello,

new member from Slovenia here. Just getting started with the homebrewing hobby and looking to read up as much as I can about the method here.
From what I've read so far BIAB seems to me to be the way to go and this is obviously a good place to get information from experienced brewmasters. I'm currently researching equipment since I really want to start with small batches (due to space issues and not that great of a personal consumption).

Hi. I'm from Manchester UK and have been brewing for the last 12 months. I started with kits but quickly moved to all grain and haven't looked back. I use a 33L electric Peco boiler which I use as a hlt, mash in my bag in an old fv placed in a box lined with an old duvet and then do a quick dunk in the boiler, then add the mash water for the boil. It works for me and I've done about 10 brews this way. I'd like to see if I can manage a full volume no sparge batch for comparison. Just finished building my small 2 corney kegorator so I'll be looking to keep it stocked up. Cheers

Welcome Hoover, Bejkee, and Firefly (around the world in one post, frick'n interwebs is great) - I think you will all find BIAB a great way to make some great brews. Search through the site - there is a ton of solid information to help you quickly come up to speed. Take some time to understand the fields in BIABacus and don't hesitate to ask questions. Look forward to hearing about your brew days!

I think bejkee might be the first member to post on the board from Slovenia .

bejkee, I met a gorgeous, single girl from Slovenia about five years ago when overseas. She was single at the time. A few months later, I saw that her Facebook status had changed from single to "in a relationship". I clicked on the partner's name and up came up a picture of her new girlfriend!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Erik living in Edmonton Alberta Canada.

Came across the forum while looking for a simpler way to brew all grain (from Google to the electric brewery website, http://www.theelectricbrewery.com, and a myriad of links later found this site).

I have little experience with extract brewing hornet want to move to all grain for the flexibility. Space, costs, and time limitations make biab a perfect solution.

Cheers

Hi
I am Kenneth from North Yorkshire, UK. I returned to home brewing beer last year. I had previously brewed kits in the 80s. I have also done a few ciders and hedgerow/fruit wines in the last few years.

Since returning to home brewing I have done a couple of kits and 5 small scale biab beers. I only have a 12 litre pot (advertised as 15l, but it was a present so I am happy to have it), so the largest I have done so far has been 10l. I was searching for information on maxi-biab so that I can do some slightly larger scale brews when I found this site. I am initially aiming to get 15l brews, at least until I can get a bigger pot.

Looking forward to gaining more knowledge and sharing how my brews are going.

Hi, I'm from Wellington, New Zealand.

This website was recommended by the guys from Brewers Coop in NZ as a place well worth investigating for those wanting to get into BIAB.

Impressed by what I have seen so far and I'm looking forward to wading into the combined wisdom and experience of your members.

I have only started brewing in the last 12 months. I have done 4 brews so far; 3 extract brews and 1 BIAB. The BIAB I only just did this past weekend, and I am pretty sure I made more mistakes in that 1 brew than I did in the 3 previous extract brews combined! It pays to do your research properly! However, I think my brew is still salvageable though. Fingers crossed. But I also learnt a lot and I really enjoyed the process so I am super keen to have another crack.

Cheers
Andy

:) Lol Andy.

All-grain is really forgiving so don't be worried about mistakes. Work's currently being done on a new site so as less wading will be needed to find your answers, but, as you may have already guessed, you only have to ask your question on the board, and someone will sort you soon enough.

Hi,
I am a kiwi living in Germany and setting out to brew all grain with a workmate. A few years ago I did an all grain, no experience brew with some workmates which resulted in 2 shockers and one passable lager. I don't know what has taken me so long to get back into it but it was a lot of fun and I could already see a lot of ways to improve on our process. Planning to brew using an electric urn and see how it goes from there.
I came across this site and there is a lot of great information which we can use to get started. Any BIABers in the Munich area feel free to PM me if you want to meet up and talk hop.

As a True Hop Head you need to Work with Flavor versus Bitterness.

You can Download "BIABACUS" at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1869

and get "The BIABacus - Help" at http://biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1863" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and read the "Clear Brewing Terminology (CBT)" viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2685

BIABACUS is a spreadsheet, that will help you Make a Great Beer, and we have a few People that Whirlpool Hop to get A lot more Flavor then Normal Hop Usage.

Hello everybody!

My name's Richard and I live near Faringdon in Oxfordshire, England.

I started brewing from kits about 35 years ago, when things were very different and achieving a tasty beer was a matter of extreme good luck for us student types, although we drank every drop regardless!

More recently, I started back into brewing from what are now vastly improved extract kits and have really enjoyed it - but it still ain't the real thing. Hence my interest in BIAB, grains, hops and alchemy!!

I've been having a look around the forum and feel really blown away by the way you guys support each other and all the positive vibes. I think I'm gonna like it here!

Just about to have a crack at my first ever BIAB brew and really stoked about it - and the great thing is, I know that there's a whole bunch of people just a click away all sharing the love!

Cheers guys!!
Richard

Welcome Richard, we're looking forward to hearing about the success of your first BIAB brew session. We definitely recommend becoming familiar with the BIABacus http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1869 and learn to speak the common language http://www.biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2685 . If you need a primer you can start here http://biabrewer.info/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1863 or simply ask, there's usually someone hanging about that can help.
