Welcome Libirm,

I know Mineola and St James on Long Island - that leaves a lot of in-between for you. Look back on this page to Joshua's post that has suggestions for you. Read those. Get your equipment matched to the size batch you can make with it, look up some starter (simple, not high gravity) all grain recipes (see the all amarillo pale ale recipe on this forum). Then try out the BIABacus with your kettle dimensions and the recipe entered. Ask some questions about your recipe on this forum and FINALLY after all that, you can order either a kit that comes in the right size for your equipment, or you can order the ingredients from other non-kit sources. Whew, that's not going to have you brewing this weekend, is it? :headhit:
You could check youtube for some examples of how people demonstrate BIAB. There is a pictorial on here somewhere by a Doc from New Jersey that is good - I'll try to find that for you. Home Brew Talk has BIAB videos, too. Bobbrews is fun to watch.
Assemble your stuff, think it through and ask questions so your brew day can have the best chance of success.

Hello folks!

I'm a web developer from the beautiful capital of Virginia. I found this forum from another forum thread

Lots of info here, I am looking forward to learning a lot. I have only brewed a handful of times and I'm really liking biab.

Cheers!

Greetings fellow BIAB'ers.

I'm from Byron Bay, NSW and brew 10 litre batches via BIAB. Really enjoying English styles (Bitter, Mild, Porter, Strong Ale) although currently running a couple of German lagers (Munich Dunkel and a Doppelbock).

I've been using BeerSmith but have just downloaded the Biabacus and am starting to map a couple of my BeerSmith recipes out in it.

Greetings biabrewer
David here in California, just east of San Francisco. I found this site searching for more information about BIAB. I have found a lot of great information here. I brewed 1 batches 25 years ago & this last November my brother suggested I brew again. I have brewed 3 extract batches & 2 BIAB. I am very pleased with my results using BIAB. I am currently working in the airline industry but hope to retire soon.
Thanks for the opportunity to learn more about brewing beer.

air2dgb, rsandilands and mlclaoo - welcome to the forum! As you have already discovered, it's a great forum. Lots of great info and helpful people on this site!

Have never used BeerSmith. Supposed to be good. Was going to but was referred to this site and have been very impressed with the BIABacaus software. And it's free.

My beer quality with BIAB is much better than previous, being a conscientious person with doing good extract. Sounds like at least most of you already do BIAB. I've been impressed and hope it works well for all of you too.

Let us know if any questions and best of luck to you!

Scott

Hi all,

I am in Portland, OR and I have been brewing seriously for about 2 years, all grain 3 vessel. I just set up an all electric BIAB rig and have brewed on it twice. Still working the bugs out but loving it so far.

Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hi all,

I've just finished my first BIAB this past weekend and I can't wait to do more. Before that I've got half a dozen successful FWK brews under my belt. Got a handle on the ferment side of things so now it's time to tackle the All Grain side. HUGE learning curve! Not even sure where to start with recipe creation.

I'm from Sydney and hope to meet up with some knowledgeable brewers and learn plenty through talking and tasting in the future. Thanks to you all (in advance) for all the help and advice.

Cheers All!

Hi all,

I live in Ayr, Scotland and I've just brewed my first 2 BIAB beers. They were recipe packs which I loved and I'm now keen to start buying my own ingredients and trying to further understand what each component brings to the end product?

Hi all,

I'm Matt, from Surrey, UK.

Got into brewing earlier this year (March) when I recieved a beer kit for my birthday. Ironically, upstairs I have an FV of a pinot grigio bubbling away but mostly i intend to brew beer!

I have so far completed a crusader and a wherry kit, and have just bought the kits again to give them another try. However i plan to step up to extract and then BIAB and who knows, maybe eventually a 3 vessel setup.

Eitherway, i have got fed up already of boiling all my water in a saucepan and have splurged on a 50L kettle anda 7.5KW burner...

I'm in it for the long haul now.

Right now though, i am doing the arduous task of drinking lots of commercial ale to save up enough bottles...

Welcome Craigonabike, Sanpancho, and Emdiesse. TOns of info here to help you biab your way to beer success. Emdiesse, I have a feeling once you read up a bit here and try BIAB out you may change your mind on eventually going 3 vessel, the same or better beer can be had with BIAB with a third of the space, cost and equipment.

Happy Brewing All!

Greetings all:

My name is Matt Willis and I am a trial lawyer living in West Tennessee although the nature of my work spreads me from New Orleans to D.C. and sometimes further abroad than that. The bad part is that I get tired of airports, the good is that I get to try brews from new places frequently.

Currently I have been brewing with the basic extract kits and equipment but my wife got me a BIAB kit from Northern Brewer for Christmas. My work schedule hasn't allowed me to try it yet but in my efforts to build more space between work and the rest of my life it is time to get started again--at least as soon as we get done moving to a new house.

I found this site while looking for a Wychwood Hobgoblin clone recipe as I wanted to give it a shot for Halloween.

Despite being a lawyer I try to be a decent human being so consider myself good humored and I promise to play nice.

No doubt I need some help as I hope to ramp this up a bit but have no local homebrew clubs or organizations in the immediate area so it's be and the internet against lofty goals.

Hi Guys and Gals

I am a new member from far off South Africa. I have been investigating craft brewing for a while. I am in the process of building my own rig at the moment. At this stage I have purchaced a 50 l stainless urn an I was planning on buying some containers to build a mash tun today. Then I stumbled accress this site and now I may just skip the mash tun and get the wife to make a bag. Like most good ideas it seems so simple (why didn't I think of that).

By the way, Braailus means I enjoy the process of braai-ing (as opposed to a barbie  ). Obviously you need beer as part of the process so craft brewing and braiing seem like a marrige made in heaven.

I will be reading up about BIAB before proceeding with the next step.

Beer will be brewed either way, ....

Cheers,

Hi All,
I'm Kev from Buckinghamshire, UK
I found this forum whilst searching for
more info on BIAB. So far I have only done
beer kits, Turbo Cider and Mead but have
been reasonably successful.
I'm looking to move to BIAB for the additional
Control it gives.
Cheers

Hi All,

I am from Sydney, Australia, I have brewed a few extract brews and am wanting to delve deeper, beginning with BIAB. I work in logistics so I like the step by step processes with little changes to create different tastes. Cheers.
