Well, might as well get the ball rolling. I'm currently in the military and stationed in Colorado. I've been doing extract brews for a year now and am ready to try out all grain. BIAB seems like the most economical and time efficient way to go. This forum has already been a great help and I don't even have a bag yet!

Post #5652 made 11 years ago
Welcome.. True, it's not only economical.. it's easy and pretty dang efficient. Possibly.. not quite as efficient as some other methods.. but the simplicity and ease of clean-up make up for it. Maybe a pound or two more of grain handles that. The time saved easily makes up for that..

Where are you stationed?

I'm currently at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs but we're getting ready to move to Fort Gordon Georgia in January. After 19 years in the Army this should be our last move before we retire.I'll have to brew something special for that.

mishadude,

Welcome to our site and thank you for your service. :salute: I was in Vietnam (Army). That war was so long ago that the jungles we fought in were in black and white? It was easier to use camouflage with only two colors! Any video you see on TV of Vietnam with color, was colorized!!!

Oh! and BIAB kicks ass! Welcome again! :peace:

Hello! I am Eduardo and I am from Madrid, Spain.
This is my first post, that's why I am telling you some info about me.
I've been brewing beer for 5 years and recently I've got a lot of interest about BIAB brewing because is easier than all grain complete method.

Thank you for all the info in this forum.

Eduardo

Hi Edoom and welcome to the forum, this is the best place to go for all your BIAB questions. Although not the traditional 3 vessel method, BIAB is all-grain brewing, and is a faster and more efficient method requiring less equipment and therefore less initial investment, for the same great beer!

Hello all. My name is Tom and I live in Montana and have only been brewing for about a year. I recently learned about BIAB and am ready to take my brewing to the next level. I am trying to learn everything I can about BIAB before I jump in and this site seems like a great place to start.

Hi,

I'm from London UK, looking to get back into brewing after a break of about 9 years when I made an extract only brew. Brewing info online seems to have increased exponentially since 2005, and finding out about the brew in a bag method has inspired me to get back into it. I live in a small flat but would like to go all grain, so it seems like the perfect method.

This forum is great. I've already learned loads of things and look forward to getting more involved. I work full time but will be taking a career break soon so will have more time for brewing in the next 3-4 months before I go travelling.

This is my first post! I'm just getting started in all-grain, and I got my wife to make me a killer brew bag. Now I just need some recipes and tips to get me going in time for a Christmas brew. I'm thinking a chocolate porter...

Cheers,

Welcome all, You have to forgive me if I brag about BIAB. This is the way we should have been brewing from the start. The only drawback to BIAB is ......? Ah.......? I can't think of any!

yorais and beerlover1983.. welcome

My wife makes all my brew bags.. I like the ones with the finer mesh.. less grain flour junk in the bottom of the kettle to mess with.. IMO.

Nice video. I have to listen you you folks more so I can understand the different accent more quickly. :0

Once you get the hang of BIABacus.. you are golden.. very helpful.. and I'm still learning.

Hi everyone,
I'm a soon-to-be new biab brewer. I'm from WI, and have been interested in biab for the past 6 months or so. I started home brewing approximately 3 years ago, but life has been extremely busy and I only have 5 or 6 extract batches that I have done.

BIAB appeals to me, because I want to brew better beer, more often, and for less money. I recently got a 8 gallon aluminum kettle, a bag, and I want to try my first batch soon.

I'll be brewing on my stovetop, and I did have a little trouble bringing approx. 7 gallons to boil for a test boil. The stove seemed to top out at 210 degrees F. I posted about it on other message boards, and it sounds like I may be limited to 3 gallon batches. Although I am surprised by this, because my stove as a 16,000 BTU "power burner".

I found this site, because I was looking for help with recipe formulation, and I am interested in using biabacus. I think for my first batch, I'd like to do a SMASH beer, which I have never done before.

I guess that's all I'll share for now. I'm looking forward to learning a lot here.

Hey everyone—I'm from Wisconsin, and I found this site mostly because I have been interested in biab for about 6 months now, and am hoping to do my first batch soon. I have previously done about 6 extract batches over the last couple years. I like this site because it seems like everyone is devoted to biab as a method. I have a new 8 gallon pot, and am hoping to do a smash recipe soon. I also came here so I can use biabacus. Looking forward to learning a lot here. Thanks.
