Hello.

I am a home brewer in the great state of Utah.
While researching my transition from extract brewing to all-grain BIAB, I came across this great site. I am amazed at the wealth of information available and look forward to learning from the pros. I am currently building my BIAB setup with a spanking new 50 liter stainless steel kettle, burner and custom fitted bag. My long term goal is to move to all electric BIAB brewing.
Cheers!!

Olá a todos/Hello everyone

1. Where are you from?

My name is André and I was born and live in Recife, northeastern Brasil.

2. How did you stumble across the site?

I found Biabrewer.info through google and some posts in homebrewtalk forum. I was researching about the Braumeister.

3. What you think of it so far?

This has been a nice, enriching experience. I want to understand the biab process and the nerd inside me wants to learn to automatize it and scale it to the proportion of a small brewpub where I would NOT be left brewing batches 24h a day with the smallest investment.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?

I have made two batches, the first one a successful weiss and the second a failed simcoe-only APA - tasted like the bitterer lemon juice ever. I used the usual 3 kettles - 3 22 liters aluminum kettles, but I purchased a brewboss system (aka picobrew e-biab) and expect to fit it to one of those kettles and start doing e-biab next week (anxious).

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?

I am 42, married, have a 6 years old daughter. Bachelor and MBA in finances and management, and recently earned a MsC in Design Methodologies applied to Business Model Generation. Worked for 15 years in the tech business, most specifically game development, advergames and education through gamification. In a complete midlife change, I am currently leaving to a public service job AND opening a brewpub or a brew truck with a childhood friend. Enough of intangibles. I want to sell good beer.

It is a pleasure to have you all as new friends.

Please do not hesitate to chat - I talk a lot.

Best regards

Andre

Hi! A Norwegian biabbrewer signing up! Was looking for more info on how to improve My biabsetup, and found this place. Not that many brews yet, still learning.

Have a 20l pot and are experimenting on how to get the most out of it. :)

Hello,

I’m a native Californian currently working in Vancouver BC Canada. I turned to home brewing in an effort to keep my blood alcohol level constant while residing in one of the most expensive cities in the world. My roommate and I started with a successful Rogue Deadguy clone, and have been hitting (and slightly missing) that mark in 5+ gallon increments for the past year. Extract only at this point, due to limited time and space.

I read about BiaB while researching the viability of small all-grain batches in a rental apartment setting (while trying not to forfeit the damage deposit). When I found this site I knew I’d be able to brew consistently good beer, once I’d committed to memory the nearly overwhelming list of abbreviations and acronyms employed here.

Thanks to all involved in setting up and maintaining a forum and software committed to high quality home brewing! I’m looking forward to many hours learning from and eventually participating on this site, and plan to get my feet wet (figuratively speaking, hopefully) with a mini BiaB batch this Saturday.

Cheers! - al.

Hi everyone
I was born in England, now living in the Toronto, Canada area. I also lived in the San Francisco area for a while.
I found the site through Google whole looking for something more biab specific.
Looks to me like there is a lot of useful information here that Will help me make the transition from extract to biab.
I've currently got 4 extract brews under my belt. I looked at traditional all grain, but biab seems to make a lot of sense to me. Just bought a bigger kettle and a bag. I will also be building a keezer sometime in the next year.
I am married and have 2 girls. Background is pharmaceutical product development, but a few years ago I got my MBA and also black belt certification in lean six sigma (hence the user name) I now work for a large broadcaster doing process improvement.

Welcome black_belt!
All the information and help you could want to make the transition a snap is here.
There are a couple of great brew shops in T.O. I live just a little too far down the 401 in Woodstock to be able to visit them in person. Actually it's probably best that I don't live closer!
Some people are like slinkies. Not good for much, but bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Hey all. Am a student in Auckland, New Zealand. Planning on getting into brewing before I finish my PhD and have to get a real job. Have done one batch on a friend's equipment, looking at buying my own setup now.

Cheers.

Hello, my name is Troy. I live in Oklahoma and have been brewing for just about 1yr,doing extract and partial mash in a 5 gallon kettle with the notion to go all-grain as soon as I could afford it. I stumbled across this forum when researching BIAB recipes soon after I got my new 62qt kettle and built my immersion chiller. I just brewed my first BIAB batch this weekend and went ok aside from the fact that I had a few too many while brewing and forgot to measure my SG. SMH. Glad to be here and looking forward to improve my tech and efficiencies etc.

Welcome TG! Sounds like you're well on your way. Don't worry too much about your numbers right now. The more experienced brewers will tell you that getting your processes down is the first goal.

Hello!
I'm from Slovenia/Europe. Soon to be 29 years old that wants to do a homebrew. I didn't do a brew yet, because I don't want to play with extracts. BIAB seems appealing.
I read a lot of stuff in the past year and that is how I found this site. Why not come to the source right? Bought a pot and all the required equipment. Pot is only 30 Liters (7,92 US Gallons), and I was looking for a way to do a full batch. Either BIAB with sparge or maxi biab. Didn't know how to set up things in beersmith for this so I looked around for other software. It seems that Biabacus will be able to help me. This is also how I found this site and I love how it is set up. I've seen a prerelease of Biabacus and it makes much more sense than beersmith ever did. Kudos to all of the involved on the project.
I decided that for starters I will do full volume biab but half the batch and play with bigger batches later. A lot of questions will follow but I have no doubt that good people here will help me.
P.S. Sorry for any possible language mistakes.

arkgray,

Your from Iowa. You expect to be going to all-grain? I thought everyone in Iowa was surrounded by all grain.

Welcome arkgray, Yes, you indeed will be brewing all grain soon and loving it! Read everything you can and ask if you need clarification.

Hello!
I´m a Swede who recently discovered brewing and brewed my first all grain BIAB last week. I´m hoping it will come out well but I have after my first batch already learned a lot that I will do different the next time I find time for brewing (hopefully this week).
I found this site after a recommendation on a Swedish brewing site, seems like this is the place to be for a rookie BIAB-brewer.
My biggest concern so far is to find the time for this new found interest since I´m a full time student and also work full time.

Regards
Johan
