Hello from Upstate New York.
Found this site after hearing some podcasts with the people who started BIAB. I haven't brewed BIAB yet, only have 3 brews under my belt (2 extracts and a partial mash). Thought this would be a good transition to all grain brewing and am planning to do my first batch this week.

Hello everyone,

First time posting here, and hombrewing rookie :) I have been brewing for just over a year now starting with Brewhouse kits and coopers kits and now drinking my third All Grain Beer (Oatmeal Stout). My current setup for all grain is only able to do 1 gallon batches but I am currently working on building a heat stick to help be do a 3-5 gallon batch soon :D

I'm living in Victoria, BC Canada and I am a Jourynman Cook by Trade :D I absolutely love to work with food and fermentation and have truly developed a passion for making beer :) I look forward to learning from everyone I can and see what your projects are :)

Thank you, and cheers

Hi everyone!

I've just bought just about all the kit I need to start BIAB and ready to have a go with my first batch! Really excited at the prospect of making beer from grain and eventually designing my own brews. I've also made my own immersion chiller from 10m of 10mm copper tubing to cool my wort and was massively surprised that it turned out OK!

A bit about myself:

1 - I live just outside Manchester in England.
2 - Referred from other sites in the UK and after a Google search on BIAB formulas / recipes.
3 - Amazed by the wealth of information here and how helpful everyone is.
4 - I have brewed from extract kits and was very unimpressed with the results. I also made my own cider from apples trees that are all around where I live and built a contraption called a scratter to pulp the apples. The cider is very much an acquired taste!
5 - I do work. I am in the British Army, but leave shortly after 20 years service.

Really keen to understand some of the technicals. I have a 33l litre stock pot and aiming for about 20l into the fermenter.

Anyway, I know it's going to be lots of fun and glad to be aboard!

Rich

Hello Everyone,

I'm Eric and I am from Milford New Hampshire. Started brewing about 4-5 months ago and must say I absolutely love it! So far I have only brewed two batches, a blonde ale and an IPA, both extract kits. I am definitely looking to get into the BIAB technique. This site has already proved to be very useful in answering many questions I have had. Look for to upgrading and keeping up to date with info from this site.

Happy Brewing!

Welcome all! Looking forward to having you on-board.

@ bcblase66: You've already done a partial mash, BIAB is nothing more that adding additional grain in lieu of the extract and doing a "full mash" instead.

Another new member here.
I'm also from Upstate NY, in the capital district.
I came across the site from a link on the Homebrewtalk forum.
It seems like a weatlh of information and I think it will really help fill in some significant gaps.
I started extract brewing with a mr beer kit two years ago - that lasted for two batches, then I upgraded to a 5-gallon kit and started doing partial mash brews. I've done about half a dozen of those now and have been drooling over 3-vessel setups (primarily theelectricbrewery.com) for the last couple of months, but I think that BIAB is a much better fit for my residence, wallet, and current level of expertise.
I work full time; brewing and cycling are my major distractions on weekends and evenings.

Hello, all. New brewer here, in the US. I had made a couple of Mr. Beer batches several years ago. When my wife bought me a nice 5 gallon kit for Christmas, I was planning on starting with extracts. I ran into a friend who does BIAB and he helped me brew my first batch using this technique. It is an ESB style that I still have in primary, and am very much looking forward to getting it in bottles and trying it within the next couple of weeks. I imagine that going forward I'll still do some extract kits, but looking forward to learning more about BIAB and brewing in general. Thanks

Hi everyone,

New guy here! I'm from Albuquerque, NM. I ran across the website searching for info about "BIAB," because I'd decided that's the route I wanted to go with the brewing. There is tons of great info on the site, I've been taking in as much as I can. I did some extract brewing about 10 years ago, have a few friends that I brewed with then that are still brewing or got back into it more recently, and I wanted a simple way to get back into it at home without building an extravagant system, so this is where I ended up. I've collected nearly all the equipment I think I'll need for the first batch, and am thinking of doing a Kolsch to start. Look forward to meeting new people and doing plenty of brewing!

Hello from an altitude of 5280 in the US. Linked here from "homebrewtalk" after curiosity got the best of me. Visited for a while with a yearning to learn more about BIAB. Seems to be a forum dedicated to answering questions & helping others. Been brewing all grain for almost three years & last month used the BIAB technique for the first time with surprising results.

Welcome aboard halzmann, starhill, monday & grem,

Great first posts :salute:. Hopefully my note to grem is relevant to all of you :peace:.

grem, I hope the surprising results were a nice surprise :P. It's always great when a traditional brewer is prepared to try BIAB. There are quite a few of us now and all of us are very happy with the whole method and results.

I've got two 70 litre (quart) vessels and now can brew two double batches on a brew day - easily. Less vessels, less work, more beer and top quality .

Hi everyone,

I found my way here from HomebrewTalk and just finished my first BIAB (3 gallons) last weekend. I brewed an IPA that's in the dry hopping stage right now. I live in Connecticut and have been brewing 5 gallon partial mashes on and off for a few years. I wanted to try a small batch BIAB on my stove after brewing in my garage on an 18 F degree day and it took an hour to bring 6.5 gallons of wort to a boil. It was miserable!

I just bought a lot of hops and am looking forward to brewing more small BIAB batches (inside this winter!) and learning from this site!

Thanks,
KindofBlues71

Hi all,

I'm from Ohio, particularly the Columbus area, and have Ben brewing for almost 6 moths now. I have 5 batches under my belt in that time, all partial boil extract. When my girlfriend got me a 16 gallon pot and propane burner I decided that full boil BIAB was the way to go. I heard about this forum from HBT, and the guides here are excellent. Thanks to the creators for setting this place up!

Hi guys,

I'm from northern Ireland in the uk!

Not done any all grain but have done a few kits and I would like to make this jump sometime in the near future!

I'm having a look around at the tutorials and find myself more than a little daunted! :headhit:
So , in the interim, I will read more and then maybe I will be ready to ask a few noobie questions!

Thanks for the incredible forum. There is such a wealth of information on here and it will take quite sometime to ploughs brought it!

Morning all, relatively new brewer - registered on the site a while back after coming across Maxi-BIAB through this site. I had brewed one two can kit before that but immediately decided it was no fun and thought there must be a way to brew a full batch on a stove top and Maxi-BIAB was that. I have just put my fifth batch in the fermenter using this method so I'm fairly comfortable with the process and am now starting to think about refinements and the science behind it and how I can use some of that knowledge to tailor my methods to my kit.
