Greetings to all from Northeastern Oklahoma!

Found the site while doing a search on BIAB and it seems to be what I was looking for -> a one-stop-shop for
BIAB info. I've been a home brewer (off and on) for about 8 yrs. and have had quite a bit of fun. BIAB appealed to me
due to it's simplicity, low cost and small space requirements. Figured it was about time to move to All-Grain from
my previous extract and steeped grain process. Have actually created a number of good brews that way but looking for
something new.
Another thing that I like about the BIAB concept is that it should reduce the amount of time required for All-Grain.
Mainly, setup and cleanup. So... To everyone here G'day, Good luck and have a good time brewin' !!!

Welcome to All Grain Brewing with BIAB. It takes the mystery out of brewing and makes it as easy as 1, 2, 3! You can make it more complicated if you want to but easy is the key word here! :smoke:

If you can't find a past questions answer to help you. Ask a question in a appropriate category and fire away! :shoot:

Hello fellow brewers!

Quick introduction! Currently brewing away in Hobart and have been reading a lot of topics on the forum already and have decided that I should register and contribute.

I put down my 15th or so brew last night and my first mini stove top biab after about 5-6 full volume brews. My system currently comprises a 20ltr pot, a corona mill, a gas burner, a nice home made copper chiller, and an stc-1000 equipped fermentation fridge. I spent a bit of time doing some extract brewing but wanted to have as much input in the process as possible, so i decided that biab would be a simpler way of learning more about brewing.

I'm really keen on learning a bit more about efficiency and there is a wealth of conflicting information around the web. I'm intrigued by the BIABacus and maybe it can help me learn a bit more about my system.

I'm currently getting an efficiency into my fermenters of around 60% (average of last 6 biab i've kept good records for).

Lookin' forward to learnin' more!

Cheers

Duncan

All,

I've been lurking here for almost 2 years. About time I actually joined -- as I have just completed my E-Kettle maybe I have something to contribute. I'm down in the deep deep south, living on the rocks of the Florida Keys.

Hi guys, another Brisbane brewer, been using ahb for a while but this site seems easier to find biab specific answers. Probably done about 10 ag brews so far after finding k&ks a bit lacking. Great info so far.
Just wondering if anyone has a good, simple IPA recipe, having only done pale ales so far.
Thanks in advance and great site

1. Where are you from?

I am from Knoxville, TN, USA.

2. How did you stumble across the site?

Searching for information about how to start BIAB and the differences between "normal" methods and if all grain kits can be used un-modified.

3. What you think of it so far?

I find it confusing that I cannot download the calculator and don't understand why.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?

Yes, I have done a small Pale Ale Mr. Beer kit and my second batch is a Raspberry Wheat extract kit from Northern Brewer.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?

I work in helpdesk.

Hello everyone,

I'm from Sweden, and just starting out with brewing. Did a couple of extract batches as warmup, and will now be moving into AG. When researching brewing methods on some Swedish forums, I was very intrigued by BIAB. I found a link to this site, and it seems to hold a massive amount of knowledge. Hoping to be able to contribute as I learn more myself!

Cheers

Hi all,
my nick suggests it - I'm from Bavaria. (80km south-east of Munich).
Well Bavaria and Beer couln't be split up into two different "things". We have several great breweries around here. So, it was just a matter of time when I started out to brew my own beer. I was teched the theory of brewing when I was at school. Just 15 years later, I had build my first brewery... Over the years it had grown from 30ltr up to 200ltr setup. Well, I don't sell beer, so no need to use a big rig. So I had decided to step back to a smaller setup. This would have the big benefit to be able to try a lot of different recipes or experiments, at a "small" batch. I wanted to build a traditional two tun rig. But while browsing the web I stumbled across BIAB on a german brewing forum... I got infected pretty fast. So I have placed an order on a electric kettle (1800W @ 25ltr.) a few days ago. The missing equipment woll be bought the next days. Then I'll start a new brewing experience.
I'm sure this great forum will help an inspire me on BIAB.

regards
Bavarian

Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new to Homebrewing but I've been lurking on several sites for a while now. I've got a few extract brews under my belt and if it wasn't for my lovely wife first finding me a 1 gallon BIAB kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop and a post on another homebrew forum I wouldn't be here and I'm so glad I am. I can't wait to get my first full volume BIAB underway. The biggest problem I have is that I don't know what to brew first... My goal is to brew a nice session beer first like a Mild/English Pale Ale or conservatively hopped IPA something that most people can drink a few of. I like the idea of an ISA (India Session Ale) from Philips brewery in Victoria, BC, Canada.
I can't wait to get brewing and learning from everyone on this site!

Hi

Complete newbie to brewing but I have made plenty of cider in the past. Based in Fife. After thinking about it for quite a while I recently decided to jump in at the deep end and go straight for full grain brewing, bought the kit and commandeered an old outhouse / shed attached to the house that has rudimentary power, water and drainage. So far I've worked my way slowly through the mashing and boiling stages and now have an IPA and a Caledonian 80/- on the go from Graham Wheeler's book. Neither finished but both taste like they'll be drinkable once they've had a few weeks to mature. Only issue has been the cold but I know how a sewing machine works so I've made some insulation for the mash tun and boiler from old duvets and curtains so everything seems to be working well just now. Aim now is to pick up some tips and learn from others' experiences and, of course, enjoying my beers all the more for having made it myself.

Hi All

First time poster here from Melbourne. I've been brewing kit beers on and off for several years and apart from one or two good ones, have been a bit disappointed that I haven't been able to brew consistently good beer. I have always wanted to get into all grain brewing but the cost and time investment put me off - that is until my local home brew store mentioned the BIAB method. I found this site, read a lot of posts and I now feel that BIAB is for me. As soon as I can I'll be getting a 40L electric urn and giving it a go.

Thanks to everyone who contributes to the amazing amount of knowledge on this site!

Hello from Dearborn Michigan. Haven't brewed for since the 90's and not all grain. The kids are all away at school so I have some free time on my hands. From all I have read here this is the way to go for me. Maxi biab looks awsome. Thanks for having me and thanks for all the great info.

Hi all,

Homebrewer from London, England. Have done a few kits, but really want to go all grain. Didn't like the amount of kit and cost of setting up all grain, but then stumbled across biab all grain brewing and it just seems ideal for me!
