Hello Elslow, You landed here! Great! And welcome!

Doesn’t mean you’ll stay grounded :o

Hold on and be prepared for the ride of your life

It’s evening here and we’re on our first home brewed pint, after a hard days grind. No other option really. Home brewed beer tastes so good. My wife just walked into the room as I was writning that and said “well that’s lovely beer…Honey!”….such peace and serenity after taking on the world. Mind you I have three Corny kegs in the shower that I have to clean out and that’s stressing me out….I’ll leave it until tomorrow. They’ll be better for the longer soak!

So, where am I going with this! there has to be an ulterior motive! …Well you’re Irish and I need help making Guinness!

Welcome (again) and have fun. I’m new here but the people are so helpful and friendly. I’m a bit eccentric (English) and don’t like to do things the normal way, even if it kills me I’ll find an original way to do things, and no one has put me down…Yet!

I’m practising my rambling…If I get good at it, I’m going into competition with PP. You’ll get to know him.

Morning all,

My name is Lee, originally from England (ooop norf) but moved to Australia 5 years ago. Currently living in Melbourne.

Have been brewing extract for the last year and a bit. After wanting to get into AG for some time I very nearly took the plunge on a 3 tier brewing system... UNTIL I remembered reading something about BIAB. This lead to lots of time researching and trawling the net for everything I could find on BIAB, here I am armed with a 20Ltr Stockpot and a bag Golden Promise rearing to get stuck in. Brew day is tomorrow. Excited.

Would just like to extend my thanks to the people who maintain and contribute to this site. It already feels like I have learnt so much and look forward to, hopefully, becoming part of this community.

Ok, now that the introduction is out of the way I feel like I can commence harassing you guys for advice... :)

Regards,

Lee

Thanking you Josh,

I'm feeling rather smug at the fact that I've saved myself literally hundreds of bucks and lots of space and hassle simply by deciding to go BIAB.

Just ordered the grain for my first batch thanks to the awesome BIABacus.

Regards,

Lee

Hey everyone, Dallas here from Canada.

Came across this site via a few searches on google on the BIAB taking me here. Learned a lot and it looks like I'm going to be trying a MaxiBIAB soon.

I've done a lot of ciders over the last year as an entry into brewing, and a couple super easy kits from my local brewery that were simply packaged wort that I dumped into a fermenter with yeast. However I've been looking at doing beer for a while. I just moved and my new roomates have done a handful of extract brews, and interestingly enough we're planning on starting a once a month "brew club" with a few other friends around the city, all of which seem to be around our level of experience as well, should be fun!

We're planning on building a mash tun from a cooler for our other brews, but to get two batches out of each monthly brew day I think we're going to be trying out the BIAB system in parallel. It should be a full out disaster which is bound to be fun!

So anyway, hope to learn a lot from the members here, already have a few questions I'm sure will be answered fairly quickly!

I felt very welcomed when I joined 3 weeks ago. Thanks! Really helps towards the warmth, friendliness and high class nature of this site, I believe.

Hi guys,

Have been extract brewing for around a year now but have just purchased a shiny new crown urn for BIAB. Site looks great (Although am in information overload right now. That or a few beers in :) Just getting the rest of my kit together to put together my first AG brew in the next week or so. I can't wait. Have settled on a simple recipe. Amarillo IPA. Would like to try a few different brew with this grain base but different hops to nail down my system/targets.

Cheers,
Luke

Welcome to you as well :salute:. Don't worry about the info overload. You've chosen a recipe which is great so just do a post somewhere here and the members here will let you know what to focus on. It's all pretty easy in reality. :luck:

My first post, only recently joined this very informative site, My name is Bernie I am an Englishman living in Queensland ,Australia.
Been brewing with kits 'n bits for a few years and have just started brewing BIAB. I am using a converted 50 L keg with a tap. My first two brews are still fermented so can't really say how they went, don't think I had a vigorous enough boil on the first one.
My local brew shop has some recipes that I am using to start off with but they are designed for a 70 L pot not a 50 L keg so I am wondering about the water volumes as I don't think I would have the same evaporation as they do. Any help with this ? Also I am "no chilling" should I leave the cube out overnight or stick it in a fridge ?
Help with either of these questions would be most appreciated.
Bernie.

Good Day BIABBernie, Welcome to the Forum.

Bernie, the 50L vs the 70L stockpot question need What Size Batch did you make???? a 23 full volume BIAB brew fit very well in a 50L pot.

The Evaporation Rate depends on the Pot's diameter, height, and volume of wort, so could you be a bit more Specific????

Then, If you sealed the Cube above 185F/85C and rolled the cube so all side saw the Hot Wort, you can leave the Cube(s) out for a few weeks with no troubles, and pitch Anytime you like!!

Let us know how your First Brews finished, and let us know if/when you have any question!!

Hello everyone, I am new to the site, obviously, and new to brewing. I have helped a friend with an extract batch and another friend with an all grain batch. My wife bought me a 1 gallon starter kit for Christmas this year and I will taste my first batch in a few days (Honey Porter). The all grain idea struck me as the most fun and creative way to brew. However, my job ( traveling Physical Therapist Assistant ) has me packing up and moving to a new area every 3-6 months so I have to travel light. I am sooooo glad someone mentioned this site on Northern Brewer's site (hope it is okay to mention them). Problem solved, I hope. I have a 6 gallon aluminum kettle and hope to get started soon. I still have 2 more 1 gallon extract kits to finish up first. After that I plan on brewing 2.5 to 3 gallon batches. This site looks like it is full of great information for a newbie and I really appreciate it. Monkeyman

Hi all,
my name is Enrico and I write from Udine, north-eastern Italy.

I started brewing using kits on april 2012, but after two kits I switched to extract+grains+hops.
When I started brewing e+g I already knew sooner or later I'd switch to AG as well, so I started buyng the stuff I needed and know I have a 70 litres iron kettle with ball valve at the bottom and a bazooka filter.
While considering other equipment to buy I came to know about BIAB, so I decided to give it a try, and so I bought a bag from Irland, a 12v food grade pump from HK, tubes, a copper wort chiller, a mill and a LPG stove.
Now I think I have all I need to start with BIAB, and I will as soon as I finish the 25Kg liquid malt extract I bought two weekes ago :D
Well... I guess I still have a caouple of months to study ;)
So, googling about BIAB i came to know this site, and decided to register in order to get as much information as possible.

Additional Info:
I'm 33 years old, work as an accountant, enjoy triathlons and other sports (skiing and sailing). When I'm not brewing or working out I like to go to movies, listen to some good music (expecially 70's rock) and read some good book.
Sometimes I also manage to see my girfriend

I guess that's all, hope I've not bored you too much :dream:

Bye
E.

Hi there,

I'm new here, but I have brewed before using alternative methods (more popuar in central and eastern Europe). Reason of my registration is simple - to gain knowledge about BIAB and to ask some questions about the whole process.

Good Day MonkeyMan, Welcome to the Forum.

Moving 2-3 times a year must be tough. But, the bright side is you can finish all the beer, as not to pack it!

MINI-BIAB is a grat way to brew one case at a time, and it is easy to Bottle, and finish!

Let us know if you have questions, and we can help!

Hi this is Steve from the US. I found out about this site through a Podcast on Beersmith.com while I was looking into the BIAB method of Brewing. This has been very informative site and has helped me a lot to start planning doing my own BIAB batch. I just started brewing in November and have a couple of batches in the "drinking" stage and a couple more in the fermentation stage. I am still and extract brewer, but will be switching to BIAB this year. I cam currently in between jobs, but normally work with computers. Looking forward to learning more about BIAB.

Steve
