Hi everyone, I'm living in that beer desert known as Portugal. I've got fed up of drinking fizzy pasteurised lager and thought I'd return to brewing my own British ales. It must be 20 years or so since I last brewed (mainly from kits although once from grain but not very successfully!)
I've just built a keezer and have 2 cornies (one containing a Muntons Highland Heavy and the other presently empty but shortly to have a Muntons Dockland Porter.
I've made 4 kits now and have rated them at 7 out of 10 which is considerably better than the 2 out of 10 I rate the local brews.
I want to achieve 9 or 10 out of 10 and hope that brew in a bag is the way to do it. Will need lots of advice I'm sure.

Good Day Rooster, Being in a desert can be tough, But BIAB can be an oasis. Many friends have rated my BIAB an 11, compared to the "American swile", we mostly drink. Going All-Grain with BIAB can really make great beer.
Check our section "The Master Guide of BIAB Brewing" at http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=25 It will help new BIAB Brewers understand what we do.
Let us know if you have any question and somone will help.

Hello everyone, I have been doing all grain brews for almost 2 years now. I use a 3 keg, 1 pump setup for batch sparging. I want to try BIAB for the simplicity it offers and to make it easier for my winter time brewing, when i typically do 5 gallon batches. I research everything to death before I jump in and this site seems full of great info. I keep running into the dreaded "You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post." and i really wanna see the bag patterns im missing, so here I am. Thanks again for a great resource.

Good Day BucFanMike, Sounds like your ready to go...1 kettle, and use the Pump for mash recirculation, "RIMS". The Bag can be made to fit you kettle very well, and should be easy to make, It may be 1 large circle of Voile.
Good Luck on your changeover, Let us know if we can help with any Questions you have.

Hi, I'm a kit-brewer from Suffolk, England. I'm just about to start BIAB; I think I know what I'm doing but I do find it difficult to find simple answers to all my questions so hopefully this great forum will help me out. I've now purchased all the parts I need for my electric boiler, and some voile for the bag so guess what I'm doing over Christmas? One thing I do need to sort out quickly is the recipe for my 1st brew so that I can purchase the ingredients before all my local HB shops close for a week. I'm thinking of trying a clone of either my current local favourite, Adnams Bitter, or the beer on which I learnt to drink, Brakspears ordinary.

Hello Everyone,

I've been brewing for a few years now and enjoy All grain brewing with my Igloo Cooler as a Mash Tun. I'm getting ready to move my family from NC to PA and have already started packing items up around the house. After a long fight with my wife (ok, it was only me begging) we've come to the agreement that I can keep the kettle around for brewing until we really must pack it up. This is going to require me to start using BIAB to get my brews completed. I've been wanting to try this technique as it seems pretty interesting and plan on using this board as a way to get things started. I look forward to learning from all the informative posts on this board.

Thanks,

Shawn

Welcome to BIABrewer.info Shawn :)

Please excuse the slow approval of your first post, It's one of those times of the year where everyone is busy.

I think you'll really enjoy BIAB. There are lots of brewers here like yourself who have tried it and never turned back.

All the best for the New Year to yourself and all the other new BIABrewer.info members.

Hi everyone!

My name is Mikael, and I'm from Stockholm, Sweden. Me and couple of friends have decided to go BIAB,
and learned about this site on a Swedish discussion board. We have little experience of brewing
(extract once, all-grain once) but are really thrilled to try BIAB out!

Ordered some gear and ingredients a week ago, and picked it up today. Can't wait to get going!
Our first brew will be an American Pale Ale on the hoppier side..

See you out there :)

/Mikael

1. Where are you from?
Salt Lake City, Utah

2. How did you stumble across the site?
I saw some BIAB videos on You Tube and wanted to give it a try. I am an extract brewer that is looking at an easy way to get into all grain, and I think I have found it!

3. What you think of it so far?
I haven't tried BIAB yet, but I am getting ready to.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
I have several batches of extract and specialty grains under my belt, but that is about it.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
I work... death, taxes, and then there is beer!

G'day all. I'm from sunny Mildura Victoria in the land of Oz.

Haven't brewed BIAB yet (just kits so far), still getting my head around the process but will hopefully do my first one early in the new year.

Computer programmer by trade but have also studied/worked at engineering and surveying.

Hello all from Atlanta, GA USA. I brewed quite a bit using kits many years ago (before children) and am looking to get back into making beer. This year I've been making a lot of hard apple ciders with specialty grains and DME.

I'm on a tight budget, so I was hoping BIAB would allow me to afford all grain brewing. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here so I can try my first batch in a month or so. Thanks in advance!

Good Day Pickled Pepper, Welcom Aboard. BIAB can save a pile of money, Grain prices are often 1/2 of Extract, The equipment is 1 kettle not 3. The bag can be purchased for under $20(us) or be made for much less. I do not have very good Effiency, but I can make a case of beer for around $7.00 in ingedients, with equipment costs around #110(us), Hope this helps, and let us know of any questions you may have!

Hello everyone!

I am a new brewer from Montreal, QC looking for some great info into BIAB. I was led to this website through the BeerSmith podcasts, and can't wait to start learning the wealth of info found on this website. I have been brewing extract batches, and have been wanting to step up to all-grain but have been hesitant to want to make the investment in equipment. I'm glad there is an alternative in BIAB!

Thanks for letting me into the site, and see you on the forums.

Hello, my name is Beau. I am new to brewing (have yet to brew my first batch). I'm looking for info on how brew right, the first time. A good friend is a home brewer, but he's not always available for help. Wish me luck.

Hello,
Thanks to all who made this site possible, hope to learn a lot more.

I'm from Beervana, just made my first BIAB/AG and it was a blast. Took about a page and a half of notes. This was only my 5th batch.

Question; can I sparge/rinse my grains (after removing the bag and during the boil) to add back some volume and extract all possible wort? I can further explain my method/equipment.

Thanks everyone for having patience with my as i get used to the site and this method.
