Hello all,

I'm from Jimboomba in south east Queensland, very new to brewing, I have a whole 5 k&k's under the belt. I have decided to learn how to brew biab style, googled how to biab and this site come up.
I have my own air conditioning company, I service and repair commercial and industrial a/c systems, I am a refrigeration mechanic by trade.

The old girl allowed me to buy a 70 liter pot, s/s valves, biab bag yesterday for Xmas, got it home and she put it straight under the tree, bugger I was hoping to use it

Anyway looking forward to using this site and hopefully brewing some cracker brews. Will also look at joining babs in the new year

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I'm from Melbourne Australia. I've been doing extract brews now for about 1 year, with a few K&K before that. I've decided it's time to go down the all grain path to really open up the possibilities, and BIAB looks like a good way to go.

I came across the website when I was trying to work out what gear I would need.

I look forward to doing some research and heck of a lot more brewing.

Cheers

Hey everyone. I'm really excited about learning more about BIAB. Just did my first run this past weekend with "ok" results. I hit around 67% efficiency which I guess isn't too bad for a first timer. I think it was a combo of my bag being too small (5gal paint strainer) and not having a proper lid for my keggle. Hope to find some good insight here on how to improve my setup. Happy drinking everyone :)

Welcome benman.. :salute:

Nice to see you've got a brew under your belt  and that your keeping records. Things will only get better..

Not sure where your lid has an effect on efficiency  (heat loss ??) but a small bag can effect things. Best to get your hands on some voile and make a bag big enough for your keggle to fit inside.

:luck:

Hey there. I'm a new and somewhat unexperienced brewer... got into brewing just a few months ago - got two extract brews done and now feel like stepping up to full all-grain.
As of now I'm rather limited by space and time so BIAB seems to be a perfect fit to me.

I'm here since just about everyone links to this board whenever BIAB comes up... and having already read alot of threads I already feel at home. ;)

Good Day Rapid, Welcome Aboard! Biab with All Grain can be done on a stove with Mini-BIAB, And an outdoor space of 6ft x 6Ft(2m x 2m) is good for MAXI-BIAB. Of course a closet for fermentation, and a LARGE room for all your Friends(Mates) to drink all that you make! Good Luck!

Hello
I've been brewing for about a year now. Extract and now Partial Mash. Will be doing my first brew in bag this week. Have a modified keg, boil basket and mesh bag to fit inside. Figure I'd take as much of the great info from this sight and jump right in. Thanks
Mike Slaby

ruger: Best of luck for your first brew . If you need a hand with recipes, volumes etc, someone will always help you out in this thread.

hlombard: Way to go . I think you'll really enjoy the simplicity of a single vessel. It really does make things easy.

Hello,
Just coming to these forums from HBT.com. I am planning my first electric BAIB and wanted to check out this forum to get the best of the BIAB world. I have brewed only a few extract batches so far and want to make the move to AG, and BIAB is the best way to do it, at least as I see it.

Good Day Durban, Welcome to the site! Check out our Electric BAIB section http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=24 Going All-GRAIN with BIAB is easy, and needs very little more equipment than what is used for Extract and partial mash. If you have any questions Please Post, We can answer almost evrything about BIAB!

Hello,

Name's Ludwig from Johannesburg South Africa. I've been brewing kits and extract / partial mash on and off for about 10 years. I started building a 75L all copper 3 vessel rig about a year ago and haven't been able to finish due to a shortage of $$$ (it turns out copper fittings / coppersmiths are quite expensive in SA). I started using the BIAB method a couple of months ago and have had good results since. As such, I'd like to continue along this path until I complete the brewery one day and for experimental brews after that.

Post #1771 made 13 years ago
Welcome Ludwig nice to see you getting good results with biab. With the current increase in copper prices I recon you could scrap your 3V system for a nice profit

Only joking  I hope you get the $$ to finish your project, part of the fun in brewing is building stuff.

:luck:

I saw this site mentioned over at HBT and thought I would check it out. I growing my equipment list and trying to figure out what I need to start during all grain BIAB as my next step. I hope to keep growing my skill set, so lets see what happens.

Post #1774 made 13 years ago
Good Day Bone Brew, Welcome to the site, BIAB is easy to start.
You should becide how Big a batch you want to make, and get a kettle about twice that size.
A bag, about the size of that kettle.
A heat source, that bring the batch to boil in around 20-40 minutes,
And a good Hydrometer, Thermometer and a long spoon.
I am sure I missed something...But this is almost all you will need.
Good Luck, If you have questions, Please post them
