I just registered to BIABrewer a few days ago. I am a 3 year extract brewer but I successfully completed my first all grain brew yesterday. It was BIAB and I absolutely love the principal. I immediately notices a few things I need to change and to me that is exciting because nothing is better than knowing how to make one's process more efficient and streamline. I look forward to diving into this wealth of knowledge as there are great things to come!

Congratulations dodge and welcome to you and all the other new guys here. Haven't had a chance to read this thread in a while - love it when I do as it is always a fascinating read.

BrewBoyd here from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. I am working to spread the word about BIAB to my fellow brew club members and change the perception of it from "that strange way they brew down under" to something a bit more accepted. Hoping to learn more about the single pot method.

Hi!

I am looking to get into AG Brewing shortly and see BIAB as the perfect solution to save time but still produce quality brews.
As per the original post of this thread, here is a little about me!

1. Where are you from? Adelaide
2. How did you stumble across the site? from the AHB site
3. What you think of it so far? Awesome!
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using? Been brewing recently for a few years after an extended break. Did a few dodgy brews as a youngster but looking to produce some quality now.
5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household? I work full time and am married with two young kids, which makes it hard to find time to brew!

Hi folks,
Adge from Scotland here. I found this site via a link/address in a post on jim's beer kit forum.
I'm new to brewing with one kit brew and one extract brew so far. Moving straight to all grain (why not!) and after a fair amount of research Biab seems the most suitable method for me. Although I'm quite inexperienced I'm already finding this fascinating hobby very rewarding!I work as a welder for a small engineering firm. I'm also new to participating on forums but hopefully I'll be able to contribute positively to this excellent site.
cheers Adge.

Hello - fairly new brewer from Overland Park, Kansas, USA. I started homebrewing a few months ago, starting with extract kits and using a turkey fryer set up. I wanted to move to all-grain quickly, and discovered BIAB over on the homebrewtalk.com forum. I have since created three brews using BIAB and have decided that this is the method for me! So, I have come over to this forum to learn more and participate in the discussion.

I work as a project manager, but would rather brew a batch everyday, if I had the time and space!

Here is what I have brewed so far:

1. Irish Red Ale - extract
2. KC Pale Ale - extract
3. Hefewiezen - extract
4. Harry Potter Butterbeer - all-grain BIAB
5. Cream Ale - all-grain BIAB
6. Extra Special Bitter - all-grain BIAB

Next up, I'm thinking about trying my hand at a Saison using Nelson Sauvin hops, if I can find them in the USA!

Howdy y'all!!
Hoptoad here from Manvel,Texas yeeehaww!! I've been brewing for 3 years now.Started with extract/turkey fryer and now all grain on a single tier 3 keggle system.
I saw a youtube video on BIAB and I am very much interested in this method so I am totally new to the process.
I work as a Consultant dealing with hardware and software in the technology industry.Sometimes keeping it simple is better than all the bells and whistles and this BIAB method looks like it is right up there in my way of doing things. I also am a longtime gulf coast surfer. My 8 year old just started learning from his old dad.Surfer, homebrewer, cowboy here so I feel a kindred spirit with you Aussie's :)

Hi Everybody,

I am a fairly new homebrewer, I've done about 5 or 6 batches - mostly the partial mash or mini mash style. I found BIABbrewer on a cross reference from another forum who recognizes, but has yet to embrace the BIAB method (maybe it's an addiction to shiney stainless steel - or spending money).

I love BIAB because I was looking for a good alternative into starting all grain with out spending hundreds of dollars on new equipment. After reading about the process I realized that it's not much different then what I'm doing currently with steeping specialty grains.

Since I already had a 10 gallon pot in the budget, I figured that BIAB was my entry into all grain brewing. Infact, I brewed my first all grain (70 Shilling Scottish Ale) this past weekend and loved it...did a little better then the target OG, so I'm happy.

I'm hoping to join this site to glean a little more info about the science behind BIAB mashing.

Cheers.

Chad

Hi,

Went to Tassie recently and got inspired to get into AG but was putoff by all the equipment needed to get started. BIAB sounds like a great way to go. Looking to do my first batch this weekend.

1. I'm from Sydney, Australia
2. Found a link to mini-BIAB from AHB
3. Inspired!
4. I've done a few kit brews at home and lots of brews at the local brew-your-own brewshop.
5. I work :(

cheers

Hi All, First time post. Not much of a poster ,just enjoy following the forums and collecting more info. I've been brewing for about ten years, Have done a few biab brews now and will definately be continuing with them as they fit in nicely with my brew day . I live in the south west of West Australia. Have a brew shed all kitted out with burners, kettles, and kegerator, might post some pictures at a later date as i get more confident with this forum.
I've been watching this site grow and it's a credit to it's creators.

Cheers Malty

Hi all,

Matt here. I have been AG brewing for the last few years on a 3v system. I had done a couple of biab partials when i first started AG. Recently for the hell of it i decided to do a biab in my 40lt crown. So i swapped the ball lock tap off my kettle onto the urn and used a biab bag from c'brewer and knocked out an APA. Voila, piece of cake brewday, prob knocked an hour off the process and got 83% efficiency (up from 74-77 normal eff). Looking forward to developing my process further.

Cheer
Matt

Hi All,

Sanpedro here from Bentleigh, Melbourne, Australia. Found the site via AHB site whilst doing a bit of searching for BIAB info. This looks to be just what I'm lookng for to get started with BIAB I have already looked through the mini-BIAB part.

I have brewed on and off for 3 years with a handful of kits. Moving house a few months and packing my brew gear actually fired me up to get an bit more serious about brewing. So after a one kit to get back into it I have just doen an extract brew. Given that I was already stepping grains BIAB seemed a really good way to try AG brewing without all the extra equiipment. I already have an 18 litre stock pot and I'm planning to do a couple of 12 litre brews to start off and then see where that takes me.

Cheers
Sanpedro

Hello all,

I'm in Adelaide south Australia , Uk expat, I've been brewing all grain for some years in a traditional English three tier brewery. It was large enough to batch sparge easily. Unfotunately the brewery stayed in the Uk, apart from a few choice items, which is enough to 'Brew in a bag'. The BIAB idea came from my brother who sent me this link. I'm hoping I can learn a bit from you chaps and offer some of my experiences in return.
I'm also hoping to use the technique to recreate some 'real ale'.... anyone got a beer engine?

Hey my name is Kelby

I been around AHB abit alot prob know me from there. I am doing a mix of extract and BIAB ATM but want to better my AG brewing so thought I would have a look around here. I am planing on going with 2v setup maybe 3v one day but ATM BIAB is just a cheap easy way to get into brewing, There is alot I need to improve with BIAB anyway and hope to carry this over. Who knows I might just keep on going with BIAB down the track but wish to explore all options and which works for me.

Hi, I'm Matt. I live in San Francisco and have returned to homebrewing after many, many years off. I've made 3 batches and feel like it's time to make the move from extract to all grain. BIAB seems like the right approach for me. Been looking around here, and look forward to using this resource to better my brewing.

cheers!

Hey everyone,

Adam from Canada here! I have done a few extract kits and now want to get into the AG BIAB. I stumbled on this site when looking for calculators and directions for the biab technique. Can't wait to brew my first batch this weekend. Thanks for dedicating a site to this technique, it really helps us newbies!

Hi - I reside in the Kansas City, Missouri USA area.

I've been homebrewing for about 2 years. I quickly moved from extract to partial mash. I have been determined from the beginning to brew in my kitchen. I wanted to keep it simple, so I adopted No Chill after my 5th batch - LOVE IT! No problems with it and I've brewed close to 60 batches. :)

I've moved to all grain and I'm using modified BIAB (I sparge). Anyway, I want to continue to refine my brewing skills, and keep the brewing in the kitchen. This website was recommended by a poster on another brewing website I frequent (homebrewtalk.com).

I'm looking forward to learning from the people who pioneered No Chill and BIAB! These are significant and elegant brewing innovations, and they've allowed me to brew in my kitchen, conserve time and resources, keep things simple, and brew tasty beer.

Cheers! :drink:

Hi all,
I have recently relocated to Perth WA from Butte Montana USA with my family.

Before I moved, I had been brewing for 1.5 years and completed about 15 extract brews and 3 partial mash brews with my brother.
After doing copious amounts of reading on different brewing styles, I have settled on the BIAB method for its simplicity and simplicity of equipment.
Just purchased a 70 liter kettle so I can do double batches :argh:
I haven't brewed yet, but plan on doing so very soon. Just waiting for my burner to arrive.
Made my way to BIABrewer.info from the recommendation of a poster on homebrewtalk.com
Look forward to learning as much as I can from the veteran BIAB brewers who frequent this forum.
The website looks awesome :champ:
keep up the good work
Cheers
