Hello from Las Vegas, Nevada! I was sent here by another Vegas Homebrewer (VegasHomebrew on Home Brew Talk). I am a new brewer who is learning the basics with extracts and partial extracts right now, but I soon want to move into Brew in a Bag. So far, this site is overwhelming with information! I can't wait to be able to ask a few questions that I have in regards to BIAB.

I work as a computer programmer (web development) at the third largest community college in the United States (similar to your TAFE colleges in Aus). I have enjoyed beer, especially strong beers (IPA's, amber ales, etc.) for a while now, and thought it was about time I learned how to brew my own!

Thanks for running this community site. I look forward to talking with other BIAB brewers, and soaking in as much information as I can!

Hey, all. I heard about this site from HomeBrewTalk. As I'm currently gearing up for a move to larger, all-grain batches, this appears to be the place for me.

I live in central Massachusetts USA and work as a Sales Manager for a very large photography company. I've been brewing extract for about 2 years and also have a couple of stovetop partial mash batches under my belt.

For the last couple of months, I have been building/collecting equipment and knowledge needed to move to larger batches and all-grain. My initial setup will be a PID-controlled electric keggle using the BIAB method. All that's left is to have the fittings welded, paint and assemble the control box and test it out. I have two more kegs ready to convert and will eventually end up with a 3-vessel eHERMS system as time and money permit.

' Evening Men,

I'm a bored extract brewer from St Helens, UK - Looking to get into grain brewing without having sell a kidney to get the kit together. I've been given an old burco gas tea urn to use as my mash tun/boiler etc and so I'm gung ho to have a crack at it.

Looking forward to learning as much as I can from you all.

First post on this forum from Texas. Just started doing BIAB about a month ago and saw this forum referenced in the Home Brew Talk site. Really nice having so much info pulled together in one place. Cheers!

Live in socal, and been homebrewing for about 6 months now. (extract)

and really want to get started with all grain. BIAB seems like a great idea to me given my limited space, and as of now I only need a pot and I'm going to be set to start!

Hello,

I'm in Wisconsin in the US. Been hearing about BIAB on the Beersmith and Basic Brewing podcasts. Right now I'm in the middle of my first BIAB session, a Black IPA. Calling it Jimmy Hoppa, kinda of an American thing. Now in the boil, loved the mash, have had troubles keeping the temp up but not any more. Also upgraded to a 15g, think thats about 56l kettle, and I love it.

I changed from kit to BIAB in 2009, after reading numerous of Pat's (and others) posts about brewing in a bag on the AHB forum, where I am a member since 2/08.
Recently changed from 50l to 90l brewing vessel for double batches. Have done about 30 BIABs, so you could say I'm a pro, but it's always good to stay in contact with other brewers through forums like BIAGbrewer or the one mentioned above.
All brews are done in my backyard in Sydney.

Hello,
I am from Michigan in the U.S. and have been brewing for about 2 years. Mostly extract kit brewing, made the switch to partial mash and I am looking to switching to all grain. After listening to the podcast about BIAB from Beersmith I am looking to give it a go. I looking forward to help and tips from more experienced brewers on this board.

Many Thanks,
ddiebler

Mary I from Brooklyn, NY.

I came to this site after listening to the Brew Strong podcast on BIAB & then reading the BIAB post on the Brewing Network forums.

I currently brew all-grain but am really looking forward to moving to BIAB for multiple reasons. I live in a small 3rd floor apt and brew in my shared backyard. Bringing all of my equipment down the stairs & up from the basement is a huge pain. BIAB would eliminate some of this. I'm also interested in brewing smaller batches, 1-3 gallons, and cutting down on my brewing time. Being able to brew all-grain after work on a weekday will be possible using a BIAB system. This will also allow me to brew smaller batches IN my apartment, which I haven't been able to do with my multi-cooler all-grain system.

I've been brewing for 5+ years and am actively involved in several homebrew groups in NYC (currently Secretary/Director of Continuing Education for the New York City Homebrewers Guild). I think this method is perfect for NYC dwellers in tiny apartments - if all goes well, I plan to spread the BIAB word here via my blog, homebrewing clubs & our local homebrew shop.

Thanks for the site!

Mary

Hey everyone, I'm from Atlanta, Ga in the U.S. and I've been brewing off and on for about 6 years now. More off than on but I've recently been brewing with a MB kit (2.14gls) and I like it for the smaller size. I'm currently gathering all the equipment necessary to do my first BIAB and I can't wait to try it. Cheers :drink:

1. Where are you from?
Finland! Yay!

2. How did you stumble across the site?
I found a link on homebrewtalk

3. What you think of it so far?
A great concentrated resource for BIAB brewing. Homebrewtalk is awesome but it's hard to find BIAB related info.

4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
One brew behind me currently fermenting, an extract brew with coopers real ale and brewferms light. T'was but a test brew before my foray into BIAB.

5. Do you work? Are you retired or maybe you run a household?
Student & a part-time photographer.

Hi all,

Recently returned to brewing after a LONG hiatus and have just about finished setting up my keggle.

I'm in Oakleigh VIC and looking to get involved to a brew club too so if anyone out there is located nearby give me a bell.

Read about BIAB on the AHB forum and thought it was a great way to dip the toe back in the wort.

Cheers

Hi all,

My first post.

I have brewed over 50 batches of great beer as a home brewer (typically in the 1 to 3 gallon range) and have transitioned into BIAB method for the last 10 batches. I am having good results and looking forward to gaining more knowledge from this site.

Hi there!

My name is Mike, I'm from British Columbia, Canada.

I'm about two months into home brewing, my first batch was a Muntons pre-hopped, no-boil canned kit and came out decent but with very little body.

I've since done a batch this past weekend that is another pre-hopped canned kit, but I added 1L of LME to it and some hops, this one is fermenting now.

My next kit I'm going to go either full extract or partial mash, but ultimately I want to gear up for BIAB, small batches for now as I've only got a 5G pot and my stove is hard pressed to heat it as is ;)

Looking forward to learning a lot!

Cheers,
Mike
