I've been brewing for nigh on 30 years, and I was in a previous life an Industrial Chemist with one contract being at the old Kent Brewery on South Dowling Street.

I have only been kit bashing up till now but would love to get into AG. I have also just given up bottling and have a new kegging setup.

Cheers
Steve

Hey all -
'Barm' here - from Loughborough, UK.
Been doing modified kits & extracts for a couple of years - now thinking about AG, but no time for the faffy process and no room/cash for 3-tier kit....Think I might have just found the solution - in a bag!!!

Found the site via Jim's Beer Kit, where there's also a decent forum. Can't wait to have a crack at the method!

G'day Peeps,
I live in Melbourne, Australia and lately i've been slowly gathering together gear to attempt BIAB. I've done a few extract brews in the past, which were pretty average, but i have learnt heaps since then through sites like this one as well as listening to heaps of brewing podcasts. So theoretically these my BIAB brews should be HEAPS better!

cheers

Hi!

I live in Ireland. I have been brewing kits since last summer and decided to do an extract with steeping grains next. A pal who does AG thought BiaB might be a gentle intro as an equipment-light way to do AG and not a huge step up from the extract method I was planning. So I plan on doing a lot of reading and start planning my first AG as a BiaB!

Hi all, my name is Tim and I live in Chicago, IL. I've been brewing for 11 months and did my first BIAB batch on Friday. Previously, I was doing extract and partial mash recipes. I came across this site while searching the internet on BIAB after hearing about the technique on Basic Brewing Radio. My first BIAB batch is still fermenting, vigorous for the first two days and now nothing, so I don't know how it will turn out. I'm waiting for a new 60L pot to be delivered so I can fully utilize the BIAB method.

Hi Newbie BIABer,

I stationed in the great state of Florida looking for an inexpensive way to brew beer. I've done a extract brew and a all-grain brew. I didn't care for either of those and happen to come across this forum which got the brewing bug flowing again. Im planning an Irish Red Ale now the a American Wheat to come soon thereafter. Thanks for all the great information on this site. I will be spreading the word!!

Hello,

My name is Martin. I am currently living in South Korea. The mass-produced beers here are miserable making home-brewing essential. Unfortunately home-brewing in Korea is challenging. There are not many providers of grain, hops or yeasts, and they are heavily taxed. If you order from abroad you are getting burnt on shipping. Therefore keeping costs low is one of my biggest concerns. This is one of the things that attracted me to BIAB, that and it will be a great introduction to all-grain brewing. I have only been brewing with extract, and steeping some specialty grains here and there. However, the Korean providers only sell light DME, so if I want access to a greater variety of beers I am going to start all-grain brewing. Another reason that I am interested in BIAB. I look forward to reading through the wealth of knowledge available on this site and experimenting with this form of brewing.

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Guys, I'm from Brisbane and have only done one BIAB at the moment though have been doing kits for awhile. I found out about BIAB from a guy in the brew club I'm with and then found out about the website from Beer and brewer magazine.

I'm keen to get a few more brews under my belt and with all the info available here I can't wait to start my next one.

Cheers,
JonnyB

g'day all!

I'm Darren (long story behind the username!) and I'm in the north-east of Adelaide.

Been brewing on and off for a couple of years and want MOAR in terms of the beers I produce. I did a kit and kilo, then did some research and got more into adding extracts and hops which did improve the beer I was making. All the while I kept hearing about the dark-side of all-grain but was put off by the complicated process and seemingly huge expensive kit list required.

I then read someone's post somewhere (I forget where) that basically said words to the effect of "comparing extract brewing to all-grain is like comparing instant to fresh coffee. It can be good, but it will never ever be as good as proper fresh-brewed."

After that I found the site from a link on AHB after reading about the mystical BIAB process and am realising it's actually NOT that complicated and I have most of the kit already. I've also heard guys that used the 3 vessel method switch to BIAB simply because it's easier and more fun.

I guess that's what appeals - making "real" beer from scratch without specialised equipment. Now I just need a grain bag and some grain and I'm looking forward to giving it a red hot go.

cheers!!

Darren
