Chop, we share the same hometown  :peace:

Information is a little buried here atm but glad to hear you have found some useful things. Changes are under way to make info easier to find here.

As an experienced extract brewer, you'll be able to offer a lot as all forms of brewing have many things in common. For example, all forms involve from fermentation on, so, please pass on what you know and have learned already.

Welcome aboard :salute:

Hey all,

Posting from Los Angeles, California. I'm a bartender who has recently decided to take my job more seriously. I've volunteered a bit at a local brewery for some 15bbl brew days and have just recently moved into a new apartment where some BIAB sessions seem possible. This forum seems like a great resource so I'll be quietly cruising around gathering information for my first home brew day.

Glad to be here

Zak

Greetings, 604Brewing! Oh. goody, an easy question to answer. Just beginning BIAB? Read lots and get the BIABacus (logged in? you can search for it just by putting 1869 in the search feature) Spend at least 30 minutes with it and ask questions.  Also see the Clear Brewing Terminology page while you're at it. Welcome and good luck.

Hi everyone, I'm from North East England; Yorkshire-born but living in Northumberland.

I got into homebrewing over Christmas, I've now done two brews using mini-mash kits which had fairly low efficiency (but were lots of fun!). Looking to sharpen up my process and start playing around with recipes, especially modifying all-grain recipes for use with BIAB if my equipment allows it - BIABacus here I come!

Hi boys and girls,

My name is Eric and I live in the Netherlands near the city of Maastricht.
I own a liquorstore with a large section of craftbeers and also a small section of brew equipement.
I did a course in Microbrewing in Brussels(Belgium) and wanted to test all the things I sell of course.
That's when I started to brew in a bag. First just for the fun of it but now the virus has gotten hold of me and I want to learn more.
On my search on the internet I came across BiaBrewer.info and I was stunned by the huge amount of information provided.
I hope to find answers to all my questions to improve the quality of my beers and be of assistance where I can.
Hoppy Brewing ;-)

Hi, lads!

My name is Martin, I am originally from Latvia but currently studying in Denmark. I`ve heard about the site from BeerSmith podcast where there was a topic about BIAB. I haven`t brewed anything yet, was exploring my options and so far this is the closest fit for my situation. Somehow decided to bypass extract brewing and jump right in to all-grain. Will see how does it go :) I am full time student of construction management. Have a nice day you all!

Hello Martin, and welcome to the forum!

I would agree...and believe BIAB is (or should be) the best fit for most home breweries... Look around the site. Go through previous questions and answers, and get a good feel for things... One can learn much on this site by doing that. BIABrewer.info does a very good job of policing low quality answers and the rampant BS you get from most forums. So, in other words, the info found here tends to be much higher quality and more accurate than the mass posting of opinions found on other homebrew forums.

After reviewing and you have questions - and you will - ask them and we will help! :luck:

My name is Steve. I'm from Seattle, Washington. I started brewing about 25 years ago was very active in my local club (when I lived near Washington DC) and even became a BJCP judge. Even met my wife on a pub crawl put on by my homebrew club. I brewed hundreds of batches of beer... One thing led to another and some kids came along and I REALLY got into wine. I made a lot of wine, thousands of bottles. But, as the saying goes, "It takes a lot of beer to make a great wine!" After about 20 year hiatus, I dug out some of my homebrew equipment started brewing again. There was no BIAB back when I was brewing, just coolers and sparging. Now that I have about 5 BIAB batches under my belt, I am hooked and never going back to fly sparging and standing outside in the cold for hours. Cheers!

Hi guys,

Just thought I would say hello. Was bought the BIAB starter kit from Get Er Brewed for Christmas just gone and have had my first two attempts at brewing since then. Started with a pre hopped extract kit just to find my feet and currently have the Hoppy APA all grain kit from GEB that came with the brewing kit, in my FV.

Looking forward to getting involved in the forum and learn more about BIAB and brewing in general.

Thanks,

Ben

Farmer Steve, good to have you aboard! Glad to hear you're brewing again - with your experience I'll bet you have a lot to add to the discussion. I'm also (generally) from Seattle. It's nice to have another voice from the Salish Sea.
dzirnavnieks , one of the many things I love about this community is the geographical diversity of people interested in BIAB. Welcome to the forum!

Hello,

I've just started to learn how to brew. I've read a lot, but have only attempted two beers. An extract that went sour apple. The yeast just didn't grow. And I have a brown ale in the ferment right now. In between, I tried making a cider and a mead. Based on what I've been able to look at from the holding site, mini-BIAB is what I am looking at. 5.5 Gallon pot on the stovetop to make enough beer for the wife and I every couple weeks. Thanks for all the information and the spreadsheet. It really is the best I've seen.

Welcome to both vexedben and onosendai. You have come to the right place. Keep learning and keep brewing what you are comfortable brewing. After reading lots of things around the forum you can figure out what's next for you. Mini-BIAB is great for stove-top scale. When you have the kettle and fermenter that works, the proper sized bag will send you on to all grain brewing. I got kicked outdoors due to odors but it worked out for the best because I couldn't lift the bag of spent grains if still on the stove. Have fun, ask questions.

Hi,
My name is Dan from Dearborn, MI, USA. I have been brewing for 8 years or so, starting with extract, then cooler batch sparging, and now have 2 brews under my belt using BIAB. I'm a member of a local homebrew club here and enjoy all kinds of beer but mostly have been brewing IPAs, although last one was a belgian wit. I am already hooked on BIAB and I want to also check out the BIABacus tool.
