Hi all,

I'm Mike from Auckland NZ. I have brewed about 4 extract brews over a 2 year period, and for the last 9 or so months I've been encouraging myself to give BIAB a go.

I've been reading the forums a little to get clued up and today I brewed my first brew. It was a mini stovetop brew, following the scaled Amarillo APA recipe you have on here. I substituted Amirillo hops with Falconers Flight (a local brew store recommendation). It took a while, and I'm yet to fully get my head around SG / OG readings, yield and all the technical stuff, but the colour looked good. Let's hope it tastes as good as it looks.

I'm keen to get my head around the Biabacus.

Cheers
Mike

Even folks.
My names phil, from the uk and I've been brewing extract kits for best part of a year now and have just bought a 50l stock pot ready for my first foray into ag brewing using biab.
I havnt got a clue how to input my limited recipe into biabacus to get my estimates, so were better to ask for help than the home of biab.
Looking forward to sharing my ventures with you all.
Phil.

Hi,

Can't believe I'm only posting now for the first time, as I've been coming to this forum for help for a couple years now. I love BIAB and have now starting no-chill with great success. Now looking to participate more in this little (growing!) niche of homebrewing.

My name is Neil from Toronto and I've been brewing for about 5 years, close to 2 years BIAB. I brew as a (passionate) hobby, with the typical dreams of one day retiring to a majestic brewery on a mountain overlooking my own natural spring bordered by hop vines.

Anyway, happy to join the forum and am looking forward to many more yards of nylon netting in my future.

Hey there everyone! My name is Bobby and I'm a fairly young brewer (only about two years into things), and I'm ready to make the move from extract recipes to some form of all grain, and am heavily leaning towards BIAB (hence why I'm here).

I'm looking forward to digging through the forum to learn more about this process!

Hello to bobzorz and flappy. This is definitely the place to be if you are interested in BIAB because it has the history, the experience and the knowledge for true BIAB success. My brews have benefitted greatly from the advice offered all over this forum. Look at the posts on this page just before your first post (numbers 7051 and 7054) for must-read info - but don't get overwhelmed. It will all make sense. Have fun learning and brewing then have a beer you made (after waiting).

Whats up everyone! My name is Mike and I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I am new to brewing and new to BIAB.. I have been interested in the brewing hobby for well over a year now. Through numerous readings and blogs I decided BIAB is the way to go for me. I have been piece mealing items from craigslist. I will be brewing with a 30qt turkey fryer, using pain strainer bags (for the time being). I also have a copper immersion chiller, 5 gallon glass carboy and few buckets. I still need a handful of items before I am ready to brew Looking forward to the wealth of info on this site. My main issue at the moment is converting a recipe to a 4 gallon or 3 gallon batch.

What to say - first post not a first time brewer by any means though. Based just East of the Peak District National park here in the UK, and just about to start Ag brewing using BIAB. I've a fair bit of experience of brewing, mainly fruit wines and wine kits (a few beer kits too, but I always found them lacking), and have been doing it on and off for 20 years or so.

I always wanted to have a go at all grain brewing, but the kit requirements were a major stumbling block, especially given that we live in a small house, but for some reason a I recently looked at a brewing forum (not this forum, but it linked here), and discovered BIAB. I've since purchased a modest sized 23L pot, and have a few 1 gallon posts lying around too. I realise I can't do the full 23L, but I figure I can brew often enough to keep me in beer even if I only do 2 gallons a week, and I can't imagine having to drink 40 pints of one kind in any case (let alone the storage space issues).

I'm not too concerned about being technically correct at this stage so the BIABacus is maybe a stretch too far at the minute. My first intention is maybe to do 2-3 gallon single malt batch, and then boil/hop each gallon individually to try and educate my palate a little, so that way I end up (hopefully) with 2 or 3 SMaSH beers . I certainly know what I like, but how to produce it is probably beyond me at the minute.

What else - fell run a bit, climb a bit and a bit of MMA too.

Cheers.

Esquid, BIABACUS is not to difficult to Use. You can use it with Excel, or My Favorite,LibreOffice 4.3(FREE).

The Post Above yours #7068, has the link to BIABACUS, that has a Recipe for Simple Brew, NRB's All Amarillo APA.

You can Change the Grain Bill for what Malt you have, and the Hops, to suit your taste, and the Volume to fit you Kettle/Fermenter, just by changing the Spread Sheet's Cell.

Let us know what questions you will have and we can help you get going.
