Good day all. My name's Alex and I'm from the state of Washington and live on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. I have been brewing for the last year or so, extract kits with steeping grains.
I brewed my first batch of beer 52 years ago when I was in high school, it was not very good IIRC. :) Years ago I dabbled in making wine and made some decent stuff, as well as some nice sparkling Meade.
I decided a year ago to get back into beer because there are so many good beers out there and beer offers so much possible variations, it's endless.
I started out with a Northern Brewer kit and have been going at it.
Yesterday I bottled an IPA and put up some chocolate milk stout which was bottled 3 weeks ago. The ingredients for a clone of Deshutes Brewing "Fresh Squeezed IPA are ready to go this week.
I just retired from 21 years with my local Sheriff's Office and anticipate more time to brew, but the honey do list is long, I must add.
I ran into this site by browsing for BIAB info and tips, I plan to get into all grain and have been looking at BIAB as the way to go.
Take care,
AlexM

Hello,

My name is Calvin, I'm from the St. Louis, MO area. I am still somewhat green when it comes to brewing. I recently have read through John Palmer's "How to Brew" and have completed two 1 gallon batches using extract kits from Northern Brewer. Both batches are still finishing up in primary and I'm looking forward to finding out how they have turned out. Bottling is planned for this next weekend!

BIAB seems like a good next step to get into AG brewing. I found biabrewer.info while researching BIAB tips across the web. I look forward to being a part of the community and learning what I can about this method.

Hi everyone,

New member here from San Diego, CA. Been out of the homebrew game for about ten years and am pretty excited to be back in. I have to hand it to you Ozzies for developing the biab method! I never went all grain previously due to the complexity.

My current goal is to recreate my favorite IPA, Nelson IPA by Alpine Brewery here in San Diego. If I can get close, I think I will have learned a lot about IPA brewing in the process since it is one hell of an IPA.

As a new biab brewer, I'm thankful for all the content posted here by the gang of dedicated homebrewers. Hopefully I can lean on you guys a bit to get my first solid house IPA recipe dialed in. Also pretty pumped on the various tools avaliable here such as the biab calculator.

Thanks,

Dom

Hey Dom, welcome aboard! BIAB certainly isn't too complex when I do it, but I suppose it can be as simple or complex as one makes it. It is certainly less complex when it comes to equipment though. Lots of folks around here can help with recipes so depending on what info you have on that one, we should be able to take a good stab at it. Oh and the biab calculator is now called Biabacus, you will find it and some other helpful links in one of Joshua's posts above (#7027). Happy brewing!

Hi all

I'm from Ontario, Canada. Have some experience brewing, come from a family that has always made very nice wine, and made beer in college about 16 years ago. The fancy stuff that consisted of a can of generic malt from the grocery store and sugar. ;). I was really excited to really get into brewing some real beer around a year ago, but due to space and financial reasons had to postpone all grain brewing. Wish I would have come across this site then! This seems so much simpler. Looking forward to learning tons from this board and brewing my first batch !

Thanks

Garvin, Welcome to the Forum.

I second Joshua thoughts
.
I too was put off by the costs of going all grain and a secret fear that it would be too complicated, maur the BIAB method really does work to make excellent beer. I certainly have been able to hold my own at my old club.

The equipment is much much less expensive and the method allows for a much quicker clean up.

I normally manage a 4 hour brew day from opening the brew cupboard to closing it after washing everything up.

I have also just started making my own wines so would love to PM you some time for some tips.

BIABacus may seem daunting the first time you view it, but read the notes and you will fine it an awesome teaching tool. Start simple and enjoy what will become a fascinating new hobby.

Hello everyone.

I`m Guilherme, and live in a tiny little town called Fartura from Brazil (at second semester of 2015, we finally got mapped by google).
Well, about 4 years ago me and a friend had the idea of brewing, but life (my wife) is trick, and only now, and by myself I could do it.
The equipment (BIAB method) is bought, mailed, but not arrived yet, so I never really brewed before, only read about it.

my first four batches are already planned: two Imperial IPAS and two dunkelweizen. Not the same: I got different yeasts, gotta compare them.

Well, this is it. Came here looking for information, and found it. But also found a feeling that I`ll make some friends.

Thank you all.
