Hi all. Mrin from 9,000 feet up in the Rockies. Brewed three batches so far. One full extract and two partial mashes using BIAB techniques. Really hooked on this. I travel a lot (50%) so this is the perfect passion for me. I make wort. Leave. Come back. Find beer. Magic!

Slev and hopnmad, welcome to the site! Grab the biabacus if you haven't already, its very useful for figuring out your brewday and keeping track of it as well. Ask questions if you can't find the info you are looking for, and above all, happy brewing!

Hello Mrin, xenon arik23 and OnTilt,

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good brewing and BIAB info here. Highly recommend to download the BIABacus like goulaigan suggested (above).. Excel based file to help with brewing.

Hi
I am an experienced 3V homebrewer, making all styles. I brew a lot and am having some problems drinking it all so have decided to reduce batch sizes and length of brewday. BIAB small batch seems like a perfect solution. Ordered my brewbag and done a fair bit of research. Looking fwd to some BIAB brewing. I am wanting to try one pot BIAB no chill to try and push the envelope for simplicity..
cheers
steve

Toca and SteveCrawshaw - welcome to the forum...

Toca - did you use the BIABacus to guide your brew? It is a big help. If over gravity you could take another reading to ensure Gravity is accurate, then dilute by adding water if necessary. (If room in the fermenter). That's probably what I would do to get the OG closer. Not optimal, but better than being off by that margin - I think it is likely the best solution...

Steve - if experienced Brewer you'll pick up on things very quickly... Glad you joined us. ;)

Let us know if any questions...

Hi everybody,
This is Flo from France (nobody's perfect)

It's like 5 years now i'm home brewing after i visit Canada (nobody's perfect again).
I ve went BIAB 2 years from now and i'm scaling up.
I have now a 100 liters electric pot.
I've got several issues like poor efficiency (i mill my own grain), and less liters than expected at the end of the day.

I'm thinking of going pro with BIAB (but only if i can handle efficiency issues on a bigger scale).
I had an experience in cheese making and i know that lifting 6 tons in cheese clothes is not a big problem.

I hope going on this website will help me with all thoses troubles, and i can't wait to get a look at Biabacus.

American here from North Carolina. Came across this site on the Brulosophy blog. I've been brewing a few years and over the past year switched to a BIAB setup, although only partial Mash recipes so far. Looking to jump into AG pretty soon so I appreciate the wealth of info I've seen so far on this site.

Flo and Cpt. Morgan, welcome to the site...

Flo - glad you have cued into the BIABacus. It should be a big help.

Cpt. Morgan - Brulosophy has a nice blog. I check it out every week or two myself. Sounds like you're doing partial mash with a mesh bag inside...(???). I did that for a batch or so before switching to BIAB. Doesn't take any more time than that. Maybe less, and at least for me, better success with full BIAB.

Wish you both success with BIAB, and please let us know how it goes and if we can help.

From Houston, TX - new to all grain brewing - just did my first BIAB brew this weekend, hope it turns out good! :drink: I've been brewing now for nearly two years.

Stumbled across this site on Brulosophy.com and have found a ton of great info.

Hello dvanbrunt - welcome to the site!

The guy that runs Brulosophy has a nice blog, and I go there every week or two myself to check out his experiments, etc...

Did you use the BIABacus to guide your brew day? If not, you will want to download it and use it (it's free, and on this site). It's a really good help!

Good job with that first BIAB! Let us know if there are any questions, and how the success goes.

Hello, brand new brewer from southeast Michigan here. I've done a handful of extract batches and am interested in BIAB to step up to AG without adding too much equipment and complexity. Great site you have here.

Hi,

I'm from Brisbane, Australia. Experimented with malt extract home-brews but never been completely happy. Going to give BIAB a try and start with some 1 gallon brews in my spaghetti pot!

Cheers,
Peter

Brian and Peter, welcome to the forum!

Brian - that's exactly why I went to BIAB. Did the research, some saying it's the best thing since sliced bread, others saying it is not very good... I've found it to be very good and think you - like me - will be very impressed with the quality of your brews using BIAB...

Peter - similar comments... I've never done anything as small as 1 gallon but lots of other people have. Should be able to have great success with it.

Make sure you both download the BIABacus software (if you haven't). It's free, and is a great guide in planning your brew day. Let us know if there are any questions...

Hi all,
I live in Lawrence, KS (Go KU!) I've brewed a couple of the NB kits and I wanted to attempt all grain and thought that the BIAB was the best place to start. I've read quite a bit and now just need to do it. Lots of good info here, thanks.

Welcome to the forum Travis. I was right there with you a couple years back, knowing I want to upgrade but unsure how...

Let us know if you have any questions on equipment or anything. I went to a 15 gallon pot for brewing mostly 5 gallon batches of beer. Gives more flexibility for me. Could get close to a 10 gallon batch of beer. I was unsure about 10 gal or 15 gal pot. Glad I went bigger... And make sure to download and use the BIABacus software. It's a great help.

Again - welcome to the forum, and let us know if we can help.

Hey RHBrew, and welcome to the forum!

We certainly think BIAB is the way to go! Whole grain is easier to make higher quality beer than extract, and BIAB is easier with way less equipment than conventional 3V. Makes things easy for me...

Review the things posted to others (previous) and let us know if any questions!

Hi all

Very similar to RHBrew above, I'm in the UK and started brewing beer with a 1 can kit, moved onto 2 can kits and then moved onto extract and partial mashes - I like the idea that BIAB lets me go AG without new equipment (and unfortunately don't have the space for a full AG setup) also means I can do 10 Litre brews to try more styles.
