Welcome aboard. :drink:

You will find that as you learn more about BIAB the possiblities grow. You'll be making prize winning beers in no time and your social standing will increase expotentially.

Fattyg, The last one might not have been a heartbreaker,it might have been one of these instead. :argh:

becausewecan, It looks like a good kit that will last. The one thing I notice missing is a good thermometer. You can never have too many. And they never agree with each other

I'm a relatively new home brewer. Now have 3 batches under my belt, 2 extracts and 1 BIAB. Really enjoyed making the quick jump to all grain with BIAB. I live in the US and have a background in math and computer science, and found the board whilst hunting for a good biab calculator.

Cheers!

Evening All,

Christy from the UK here. Been looking into grain brewing a lot lately and with the set up I currently have from kits and being an avid cook BIAB seems the sensible way to get started.

So I'll start with a massive Thank You! This site and links from it have been a massive resource to understanding a lot of things. I have to admit a fair bit has gone over my head at the moment. It's certainly been a learning curve.

I've got a few questions but as I've been lurking here for awhile I know some of those answers are out there I just have to search for them before asking the same old newbie questions. I can see its a supportive forum so I'll be tapping into the knowledge here as well as my barrels

So Thanks again and look forward to getting to know some of you guys

I'm hail from Atlantic Canada, awaiting the first snowstorm of the year, so i'll have lots of stovetop brewing time ahead of me for the next few months. I've brewed about 5 batches of simple FestaBrew type kits over the past few years, but am now moving on to all grain BIAB. I found this site during my seemingly never-ending search for some good, dedicated BIAB information, and it looks like a gold mine so far. I'm very interested in using the BIABicus to try and lock down my volumes and other parameters.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard Christy! BIAB is a great way to brew, and cooking skills will definitely come in handy!

Welcome shdougan, fellow Canadian! You haven't had your first snowstorm yet?
We've had a few in Northern ON, snowin like mad right now! Don't be afraid to brew in the cold, get a good propane burner and anything above -20c is totally brewable, and makes chilling really easy!

Hi guys and gals.
Was brewing 20yrs ago but never got past extract brewing.
Dusted off and replaced some stuff. Got a couple batches of extract under the belt and looking to get into all grain.
The BIAB process looks to be the direction for me. Looking forward to learning.

kaffeenjunkie, welcome, BIAB is a great direction to head in, and since you are already doing extract there will be very little equipment required for you. Happy learning, and brewing!

Hey everybody, good to be on here. I have a few successful and a couple semi-successful AG brews using a mash-tun but am stoked to start doing one-gallon BIAB batches every week to get some recipes down and more experience quicker. I am sure I will be asking for loads of hacks and advice so thank-you in advance.

Welcome BG.. I've only done a few 1g batches.. None by BIAB. However, plenty of 2g, 2.5g and 3g batches. It works. Keep us posted on what you are doing.

So after lurking for quite some time and gathering just enough info to be dangerous over on HBT, I figured it was time for me to say hello here. I am doing 2.5 gallon batches at the moment, hoping to get my knowledge of each grain and hop of interest to me in line before moving on to larger batches. Up until now I have been doing mainly extract brews wight he occasional partial mash here and there. Last weekend I did my first BIAB and really liked it. I really appreciate all the help I have gleaned from these forums so far and have no doubt I will be even more ankful in the future!

Welcome to another small(er) hatch brewer. I, also, do 2.5-3gallon batches with a very occasional 5g batch. BIAB is really quite fun, easy, and economical with regard to equipment. I've sold most of my non-BIAB hardware :)

Hi everyone, my name is David.
I'm from south-west Sydney and came across this site after doing some searches to do more advanced brewing techniques. I have only done one can concentrate brew and it turned out really well. It has inspired me to take things up a knotch. I'm not new to fermentation, I have been making my own yogurt for a year now, and have been baking sourdough breads for 6 months. So the manipulation of simple ingredients, yeasts and time is very familiar to me.
I'm looking to BIAB because it seems logical, and both space and money is an issue in my house.

:)

Hey David.. you CAN do it. I'd guess the only thing you would need is a bag if you have the other necessary equipment. Space and money are two factors that make BIAB'ers happy.

Hi all,

My names Michael I am new to BIAB and new to the forum.
I am from South Eastern United States, Atlanta, Georgia to be more specific and started home brewing while working in Kuwait with the help of a couple of Aussie friends. I came across the site while listing to an interview about the process on basic brewing radio. I have found the site and people to be super friendly and the information endless and awesome. I started brew about 3 years ago and it all started with re-brewing of some NA (non alcoholic) beer. Before for you banish me to the far corners of the brewing community it was out of absolute necessity. I spent the better part of a decade in Kuwait which is a dry country and so at times that was the only way to get a beer. I have brewed in the way that shall not be mentioned, see above ^, I have also brewed about 10 extract brews and 3 or so partial mashes. I am very excited to have found this wealth of knowledge and experience and look forward to being a part of this site and new community.

Welcome to all the new faces! You'll do yourself a HUGE favor if you read the thread entitled CLEAR BREWING TERMINOLOGY before you get any further along. It will make your learning soooo much faster on this site and when actually using BIABcus. Have fun! Use the search function!
