Hi Everyone,
My name is Jarrad and I have been brewing all grain for about 10 years. I've gone from a bucket in bucket system, to a 3 vessel esky mash tun, to a 3 keg HERMS, to house sitting a braumiester where I liked the ease of full volume brewing in one main vessel.
I recall Pat talking about the BIAB idea on the AHB forums years ago and had adopted that method for starters with great success. So when my HERMS system needed some proper fixes after many a "temporary" band-aid style repair began to fail again... I opted to buy a 40L urn with a hidden element and give BIAB a go.
So here I am reading up on other brewers stories and recommendations to prepare myself for my first full volume BIAB. Look forward to sharing my experiences

Welcome Debrewer and Rizzo!
Sounds like you two have some experience under your belt. Don't hesitate to ask anything that you're unsure about. This is the place to have your questions answered.

Howdy DB and Riz. This is definitely THE place. Lots of smarts here.. and willingness. I don't have anything fancy for a pulley system. I simply have an inexpensive bicycle hoist.. the kind that stores the bike from the ceiling in a garage. We have a place here called Harbor Freight.. don't know if it's international.. but the hoists are really cheap.

Hey Jazz.. welcome to the frey. There are a couple of closet Braumeister brewers that frequent this place. I bought one but am having to wait for the 220V to be installed. Otherwise, it's traditional BIAB.. following a similar path that you took.

Hey Chris.. welcome. I love Sierra Nevada and would like to try an APA clone. BIAB is a great way to start.. Many start with extracts.. and that is great.. You can make very good beer with extracts.. but there are limitations. With all grain, the world is your pickle Biab is easy and compact.. we can make world class beers.

Greeting from Escondido CA. I started brewing a year ago ( Nov. 2013 ) and love it. I brew partial mash / extract at this time but It's inevitable one starts considering A.G. however I learned of BIAB 6 mo. ago and was intrigued. While listening to a podcast covering this topic J. Keeler mentioned this website as a very helpful resource, being that I am on a very tight budget BIAB is the way to go for me, Not much equip. needed to add to my current set up, time efficiency and the quality control it offers make sit perfect for me! I love this site because it's a place for "us" I look to BIAB in the next 30 days and can't wait to do so. I'm registered here in a means for seeking help with my future in brewing!
Cheers! smoothbeen

Hi, welcome to all you new folks.
I'm only new to BIAB and all-grain with a mighty four brews under my belt. But with the aid of BIABacus and the wealth of info on this site I'm making really nice beer (even the first batch), so find a recipe, get someone to check your BIABacus under the recipes thread and go make some yummy beer! You won't regret it!
FYI - biggest things in my brewing lately have been Starsan (no rinse sanitiser)and a paint mixer for agitating the mash. I brewed tins for ten years and wish I'd started doing grain as soon as BIAB was born, you'll never look back!!

I'm an electrician from the east part of Melbourne, Victoria. I have been brewing kits for a couple of years now and a mate of mine has recently introduced me to BIAB and I'm so keen to get started. I have just finished converting my 40ltr Urn. I have my recipe down and all I need now is a pulley system to help me extract all the sweet liquor from my bag and I'm good to go
I'm looking forward to learning heaps from the website. All the people here on the forums seem to be of great help and very knowledgable.
Cheers
Joe
welcome rizzo.. your mate sounds like a ripper bloke.

Hey
I'm Mark from the UK
I've had a look around the site and it seems like the perfect resource for me, I've just ordered a BIAB setup due to arrive this week, just a basic setup but enough to get me going.
Im really interested in recreating some of the flavours in the craft ales here in the uk, but also really interested in experimenting with different techniques and ingredients - particularly chilli - ive looked for a good chilli beer for years and only ever come across cheap lagers with a chilli added to the bottle.
Anyway - i`ve had this site recomended to me because of he BIABacus spreadsheet which should healp me a great deal to be able to scale down my recipes to a small stockpot until i hit something right then i can do a full brew.
Anyway look forward to reading more and interacting with everyone here

Hiya Mark...
Chili peppers in beer.... hmmm... I know Norther Brewer has a recipe out there
http://www.northernbrewer.com/documenta ... keBomb.pdf
This is a low integrity recipe. But one of the more experienced BIAB users should help fix it for you. Not sure what the VAW (volume of ambient wort) would be.

Hello have been extract brewing for a couple of years and have been adding more and more grains through partial mash that i thought if if waiting around an hour or so for that i may as well just doo the whole lot ! so need to get that calculator and start messing around with some reipes

Post #5744 made 11 years ago
Welcome aboard baikinman, you are absolutely correct, if you are already steeping specialty grains or doing partial mashes, you may has well be doing BIAB. The calculator is now called the biabacus, and is an extremely powerful tool that will guide you through making some awesome all-grain beer, Happy Brewing!!

Welcome and thanks for your service. I have a son in the USAF and I appreciate his service for sure. BIAB is a great way to go.. NOT simply as a transition.. but a permanent brewing process.

Hi All!
Matt here from Wellington, New Zealand and I'm in IT Support for a job. I came across this site in my intrepid journey to find the perfect resource for BIAB homebrewing. I've been BIAB'ing for a year now, but with very mixed results (last beer was a heartbreaker - left overnight and was infected with nasty sourness). Anyway, this site looks great - loads of friendly and helpful people who I really respect for sharing their wisdom. Thanks!
