Hi all!
I'm a fairly green brewer from Bendigo in Victoria (I've seen a couple of others from around here on the site already). I've just bottled my first batch of extract + hops (a Little Creatures Pale Ale clone).
My brother and one of his mates brew all grain, and do a bloody good job of it, hence why I am getting into it. My limited stovetop setup means that mini-BIAB is the way to go it seems!
I've had a good look through the site and have plugged my next recipe into the BIABacus - I consider myself a pretty smart bloke (I'm a physio), but bloody hell that thing took a while to get my head around. Once I'm fully registered then I'll be promptly posting my BIABacus results to get confirmation that the recipe will work (a SMaSH Maris Otter and Galaxy IPA), and that I'm understanding the water volumes figures correctly

Welcome goatchop41
Good on you for diving right into the biabacus. We look forward to following your progress and lending a hand when needed.

Sean from Fairfax, VIrginia (near Washington, DC) Been brewing extract for a few years, looking to simplify (no chill) and brew some AG. Thinking about dropping to 3 gallon VIP batches, for faster keg changes. I think I can do this with my 32 qt (l) brew kettle.

Welcome Sean, This is the Best place to find all there is about BIAB.

Make 3 gallon Batches in an 8 gallon stockpot is Perfect.

We have the best program/spreadsheet called BIABACUS, to make BIAB easy, for any size Batch

Please go to viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1869 and download the Blank spreadsheet and the Programmed spreadsheet to play with sizing and ingredients.

Hello everyone. I'm from Fife, Scotland. Been brewing kits for a year or so and I want to try my hand at all grain. I don't have a huge amount of space so love the idea of BIAB compared to the traditional AG setup.

Welcome Fifeflyer... Hopefully, after reading the info on the forum, and asking any question you may have, you'll see that true full-volume BIAB is not only space friendly but also the most elegant way to make sweet wort. Enjoy!

Hello,

My name is Matt and I live in Eugene, OR. I've been brewing off and on for a few years doing extracts with steeping specialty grains. I've been thinking about going into all grain brewing, but have been hesitant with the time and space constrains in my life. I listened to a few Basic Brewing podcasts that focused on BIAB and decided to check this site out, and it's a great resource for learning how to brew all grain without all the extra equipment. I'm looking forward to making my first BIAB batch when I get back from my business trip!

Welcome Matt!

Extract brewing shouldn't play so much of a second fiddle to all grain. As you know, the magic happens when we treat our yeasties the right way! That said, when you do happen onto enough time for an all grain batch, BIAB plays second fiddle to nobody!

Agreed... Welcome Matt. Extract makes good beer.. even award winning beer. But, all-grain allows you to tweak a recipe and make it your own. The magic in brewing is the creation of the wort, IMO. It becomes YOURS rather than someone else's. BIAB is awesome in that it allows you to do much with equipment you already have.. All you will need is a bag. :)

Hi all,

I'm from South Australia. This weekend will be my first BIAB session. I've done a bit of home brewing before, so I'm hoping for success on my first attempt. This site is a great resource. I'll be returning frequently.

Cheers,
Fooey

Hi Gents,

My name is Brett & I'm from England. I used to brew extract from kits over 10 years ago, before kids when free time was taken for granted  I've recently started getting an urge to get the old kit out again, but this time going for full grain brewing. I was happily researching how to start constructing my brew kit online, such as mash tuns from a cooler and wort chillers when I came across BIAB! Watched a few videos on you tube and been reading up on it and I'm hooked. This is the way to go for me. :salute:

Looking forward to learning lots, now assembling my required equipment list to do my first BIAB.

Cheers!

Hi Brett. I had some 'o you last night... My club had a sour/funk beer expert give a style talk last night and we sampled a bunch of commercial and homebrew beers made with Brett, pedeo, lacto, etc. Welcome to the club. I wish I had had the guts to try BIAB before I invested all the $$$ to get into all grain. Wasn't so much the $$$ as it was the space which eventually led to lots of "stuff" I ultimately sold to do BIAB. I'd heard so many people say that BIAB was NOT the way to go.. "Do it the right way" and get a 3 V system. I know better now.

Hey from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada!(The left coast!) I'm making the jump from extract w/steeping grains to BIAB. I think its the logical choice for someone who is on a budget and wants to make the best beer possible. I have brewed around 12 batches so far and have learned from all of them. Still trying to figure out what I want to brew next. Definitely BIAB though :peace:

Hi fellow brewers :salute:

I'm an electrician from the east part of Melbourne, Victoria. I have been brewing kits for a couple of years now and a mate of mine has recently introduced me to BIAB and I'm so keen to get started. I have just finished converting my 40ltr Urn. I have my recipe down and all I need now is a pulley system to help me extract all the sweet liquor from my bag and I'm good to go

I'm looking forward to learning heaps from the website. All the people here on the forums seem to be of great help and very knowledgable.

Cheers

Joe
