G'day ya'll! I'm from Texas and found this site after listening to the Basic Brewing podcast. I love how the site is setup, its very easy to navigate. I'm very interested in the calculator spreadsheet. I am a fairly new brewer, with 6 batches under my belt, 1 BIAB, 3 extracts, and two 3V. I'm active duty military also.

Hi all,

I live just outside Durham in the North East of England and have been brewing on and off for around 15 years.
I got back into the hobby seriously just over a year ago and have progressed from "off the shelf kits" to tweaking and then to extract recipes. I was so impressed with the leap in quality from kits to extract/partial that I'm hoping all grain will be even better. BIAB seems to fit with my budget and space requirements perfectly and since finding this site via a link in another forum I've been reading obsessively.

I work as an AV project manager which often involves long unsocial hours so I really enjoy winding down on a weekend and pottering in the kitchen, I like to make things from scratch; be it bread, bacon or complex meals and very soon beer from grain. Naturally, I also like a pint or two preferring a light bitter for pottering, pale ale for the garden and a stout for the sofa.

at the moment I have the following on the go:

Drinking now:
Woodfordes Wherry (tweaked) - Stacks of it, I can't walk past Wilko's without buying a kit as my father/brother like it.
Woodfordes Green Man - Not impressed but drinkable (good in a beef stew though)
Tom Caxton real ale - Just horrible (will be tipping this soon to free up the keg)

Conditioning:
White House Honey Porter (Partial Extract) - Still very green at 2 weeks in the bottle but is going to be lovely by Christmas.

Planned:
Single hop Amarillo (Extract) - Have the ingredients and planned for Saturday.
Summer Ale of some kind (BIAB)
Simple stock bitter of some kind (BIAB) - To replace my Wherry compulsion!

Also, many thanks so far for all the information on this site.

Regards,

Broonzy.

broonzy,

It sounds like you are well on your way to becoming an accomplished brewer. Read as much as you can and brew likewise. Nothing beats experience. BIAB is easy and economical.

Hello there! I'm trying to determine if this is the correct location to make my "First Post". Having said that, I hope this is it. So here goes:

I'm gclaude and I live in Holland, Michigan, near the east coast of Lake Michigan in the U.S. of A. I've been brewing for a number of years, all of it extract with partial grain because I lacked the space to do traditional all grain requiring so many vessels. I've been kegging for nigh on to ten years now.

One of my sons gave me a brew bag for Christmas last year and I've been able to set up a nice space in our basement wherein I can proceed with BIAB and am looking forward to it. This website looks like just the place to get smart on the subject. I sense a strong fraternal community even though I'm sure there are bound to be distaff members in the group. I anticipate a rather steep learning curve on my part.

Thanks for the welcome!
gclaude

Hello there! I'm gclaude and I posted my "First Post" in the wrong venue. So let's try this again.

I live in Holland, Michigan, USA, where we moved a little over two years ago to be near grandchildren. I've been brewing for a number of years, but limited to extract with partial grain. The brew in a bag concept will change all that.

I look forward to learning soooo much from this site and it's members! Thanks for that opportunity!

Cheers and best wishes,
gclaude

hi all.

somehow a norwegian has stumbled across this site after rambling through the internet for biab information.

I've brewed a few beers earlier with a full grain brewer, but time and space constraints has put me out of it for a few years. I think biab-brewing is the way for me (for now).

cheers! :peace:

Howdy!
I am active duty military so "where are you from" is always a loaded question. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, I'm currently living in MO, and I'm moving to CO just after the new year. I found this fantastic collaboration from other forum goers who referenced this site in a homebrewtalk.com BIAB thread. I have only scratched the surface of the vast amounts of information but so far I really like the organization and how intentional the moderators in making sure this site runs as intended. I have been brewing for a little over a year and in that year I've only done 5 or so extract brews. I don't brew as often as I like but I do a lot of reading on brewing and hope to trade in a few other hobbies when I move to focus on brewing more. I really enjoy research and developing my own brew recipes and I'm looking forward to begin experimenting with BIAB!

Cheers!

Hi everyone.

I'm an Aussie living in France and a born again brewer after a 15 year hiatus. Started kit brewing when I was at uni and started brewing again last April, but with more experimentation. I'm looking forward to learning more about brewing (and sewing :argh: ) BIAB style.

Cheers big ears

Hello everyone.

My name is John and I live in the Forest of Dean in the U.K.

Recently retired after not doing any for many years I returned to kit brewing. O.K but I wish to move on, I have done some extract brewing but want to go further. I came across BIAB in some of the forums I researched and find it appealing. At present I am collecting the required kit and have ben reading the forums with interest and admiration of the enthusiasm.

regards to all

John

HI!

I'm a Scottish ex-pat living in New Hampshire USA. I'm a relatively new brewer with several extract brews under my belt and looking to try all-grain with the existing equipment I have, and it looks like mini or maxi BIAB may be the way to go. Can't wait to make the leap with minimal additional expense if possible!

Cheers all

Howdy "yeastylad" .. You have so many opportunities. You certainly don't have to start big. Using what you have, you can do stovetop to get started with smaller batches. Keep us posted as to your progress. This group is here to help.

Hi all!

A lad from Sweden. Born in the winter of 1984. Have been biab brewing for about a year. Have a few brews under my belt. :)
Software developer during day time and brewer during nights! :) Came across this forum from another swedish forum. Intrested in trying out the BIABacus.

Hello BB. Definitely more than one way to do BIAB. One pot or two or ?? I really like it because clean-up is VERY easy and far less trub in the kettle.
