In the process of researching the method now and hope to brew my first batch in the next few weeks.

This website looks like a great resource! Thanks to all who post advice and answer questions here. :salute:

Hi there!

Jeff from Milwaukee, WI USA. I live in the shadows of the original Miller Brewery. I started brewing about 18 months ago and have roughly 12 brews under my belt using various methods... extract, AG with cooler mash tun set up and BIAB. I've only done BIAB with smaller volume brews (up to about 3.5 gallons into the fermentor) due to not having a big enough bag to fit my 15g pot. Maybe now I have found this site, I'll have to fix that. Still learning the basics and loving the flexibility of the brewing process. Still searching what works for me. Heard about the site from a podcast on BasicBrewing.com

I look forward to participating on this site. Thanks much.

Hello Community!

I recently moved from Honolulu to Seattle. My new apartment in Seattle is rather on the small side so a 3 vessel system is out of the question. I have been brewing for 5 years and I'm really looking forward to giving BIAB a shot.

I stumbled into this site after catching up on Basic Brewing Radio episodes. Hopefully, I'll start my first BIAB batch soon.

Cheers!

My name is Luke and I am from Wyoming, USA.
I came to find biabrewer.info from various podcasts, including one of my favorites, Basic Brewing Radio, and researching the internet about BIAB. The site is a very solid, content rich site with a dedication to BIAB.
I have been brewing for 6 years or so, starting on a traditional 3 vessel system and upgraded to a Sabco Brew Magic about 3 years ago. However, as of last night in fact, I sold my Brew-Magic and have shifted focus to BIAB. I have used BIAB on my last several outdoor group brews and honestly can see no difference in quality. However, the beer seems to taste so much better when all my time and energy can be used relaxing and enjoying my hobby instead of cleaning and maintaining the system, accessories and my plate chiller. I have a newly purchased keg that is getting cut this weekend for a lid. I plan on going simple all the way and will not be using a false bottom or drilling holes in the kettle. No sight glass for volume measurements, just a marked wooden stick. Also, I will not be installing a temp gauge. Simply running a basic timer with a temp probe through a hole in the lid. Essentially I am trying to fit my entire set up into the keggle for storage and create a vessel that is incredibly easy to clean and maintain. A hobby that has consumed a good portion of my garage can now be neatly, stashed in a corner. Anyway, enough of my ramblings for now.

Cheers!
Luke

Hi

What an amazing forum!

I sort of stumbled upon home brewing recently after getting a real taste for Belgian Trappist/Abbey beers and paying up to £4 (6/7 US/Aus$) a bottle. Got me thinking, what if I could make this myself?! A few 'Google' searches later and here I am.

First couple of brews were the Brewferm Grand Cru & Abidj kits, followed by an extract Belgian wit beer brew (which was exceptional!). Now ready to step up to some real brewing! I'm attracted to BIAB because (in theory) should be identical to full grain AG brewing (mash tun/3 vessel) but much more straightforward.

Got my 33ltr steel boiler + mashing bag and am ready to go.

next brew planned: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone
Then: Warsteiner clone, once the weather round here gets a bit cooler.

Hi there fellow brewers, my name is Keith and I live in Sydney, Australia.

I heard about this site on the Basic Brewing and Beer Smith pod-casts which I love listening to during my commute to and from work.

I have been brewing my own for about a year and now regret not getting into it sooner. I became inspired when I tasted some incredible beers at a nearby small brewery (insert plug for Riverside Brewing Co. )and discovered how very ordinary my tastes were. I soon realised that homebrewing would be the best way to access great beer at lower cost. One of the main reasons for not starting on home brewing earlier was the perceived hassle and time to wash and fill bottles, but when I discovered the kegerator I knew that was the answer.

So here I am, 12 months down the track and after an indifferent first LME can kit, I have been brewing the Fresh Wort Kits (mostly hoppy pale ales and, I might add, quite exceptional). With about 10 or so of these under my belt and with the fermentation bit under control, I feel ready to go AG. From what I have read and heard, BIAB sounds like a perfect next step whereby I have control over the recipe and the method and hopefully the results!

I have been reading and listening lots and to be honest, feel a little overloaded with information, so I think its time to take the plunge and acquire some gear.

Looking forward to contributing and learning more here on BIABrewer.

Cheers
