Hi folks.

I'm really excited to be part of this community. It seems like a very intentional, well thought out group. I'm very impressed with the wealth of information collected here. I stumbled randomly on this site while researching for my first biab.

I've only got a dozen brews under my belt, the last two of which were biab. I'm feeling a little limited by my 5 gallon kettle, but have a birthday coming up soon and have my fingers crossed!

I'm from vancouver, British Columbia, have a young family and am studying to be a nurse. I'm happy to be brewing both as a hobby, and as a way to keep my fridge stocked while going through school.

Thanks for putting this resource together. I can't wait to contribute and draw from this community.

JollyBombadil ,

Welcome to our forum. Answers all over the place but a few questionable one too? Your job is to pick thru the verbiage and agree with the stuff I write! At least then you will know it's correct!

Hello everyone, I am Tom from Leeds in Yorkshire,UK. I have been doing extract brewing because I live in a small flat. I fancied doing some grain brewing but didnt have the room to do any. I saw a youtube video of a guy BIAB brewing in a tiny apartment, and it gave me inspiration. After researching a bit on google I came across this site and it has all the information and knowhow to get me grain brewing again. Hoping to have a good time here and learn a bit from you guys.

I've been doing extract plus specialty grains brewing for about 18 months. I took a class at Hop City in Atlanta Ga, USA. The first couple batches were kits from Brewers Best.

Since then, I did a porter, then a Sam Adams white christmas clone. It was great and I've done it twice more since then. I've also done a dunked weise and a grand cru winter reserve.

The white christmas clone is my favorite so far.I thought about doing a partial mash version as a step up in my process, but while researching that I came across biab.

I've decided to give it a shot on my next white christmas clone. It's a little drier than the original and I'm calling it Freemyer's Noble Wit. The extract version is great, I'm hoping the biab version is even better.

Hi

I am from South Africa, Coopers kits got me into brewing but it got expensive so about 2 years ago I started to seriously look at all grain brewing and did a lot of reading on various forums and the WWW. Somewhere on a forum I saw a pictorial on BIAB but I wanted a proper brew rig. I won a 48 lt cooler box from our local commercial brewery SAB and a friend gave me an 80 lt stainless pool filter. My first and only mash in the cooler was a disaster mainly because I used sorghum malt as my base malt. After the first brew I bought me some curtain lining material and made myself a BIAB bag. Searching for BIAB recipes, info on crushes, mash procedures, water volumes and strike water temps landed me at biabrewer. I only do BIAB at the moment and see no reason for me to change. It is so simple, it makes good beer and it fit my requirements.

Welcome sets :peace:.

Quite a few of us here started as traditional three-vessel brewers and went BIAB. If anyone can find a single reason not to do so, I am all ears.

On this site, we old-timers have no doubts on the quality of BIAB (it is just another method of sweet liquor production albeit, a great one, that may, with more time, prove to be the best) and really just like exploring all the other areas of brewing of which so little research has been done.

Good stuff,
PP

Hey all. I'm from Australian, just south of Byron Bay in New South Wales.

I stumbled on this site whilst madly researching BIAB to move into my first AG. Already I have found some great info on here, in particular the thread on maxibiab'ing a full standard batch (or is that minibiab).

I have only put down about 5 brews in toal thus far. The first was kit and kilo and the last was an extract with hop additions. Now I'm ready for the big leagues and as much as I'd love one of those fancy computerised shiny 3v setups I cannot justify that much outlay (nor actually make that outlay). And from what I've read so far there is no real major drawbacks to going AG using BIAB.

Hello to all. I'm a Canadian homebrewer, located in Ontario's Kawartha Lakes region. I started brewing just about a year ago, and have been using extract kits (mostly Coopers) and steeping grains, as well as concocting a few of my own extract brews. I've decided to make the switch to all-grain brewing, and have decided that BIAB is definitely the way to go.

I heard about this forum from other BIABrewers on the Canadian Homebrewers Forum, and I'm glad I checked it out. Seems like there is a lot of valuable information here. I can't wait to learn more and start making my own contributions.

1. Where are you from?
Just outside of Washington DC (That's a quaint little city built in a swamp in the United States)
2. How did you stumble across the site?
Link from homebrewtalk? Maybe Google? Can't remember.
3. What you think of it so far?
So far so good.
4. Have you brewed at all before. If so, for how long and what method are you currently using?
A half dozen or so extract brews in the early to mid 2000's. Doing my second post divorce partial mash this week. Wanted to do a few styles that are a little tougher with PM, so I was looking to see what the current All Grain setups are. Stumbled upon BIAB and vaguely remembered this technique just starting to be talked about when I fell out of brewing.

So this isn't my 1st post. I did that ~3 months ago. I'm just not sure where to post now. I did my 1st BIAB brew this past Sunday using the Biabacus for the Amarillo APA. Now I would like to discuss my results, so do I post to the Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment... thread? I have learned an enormous amount of info from this website in the past few months, but my biggest difficulty is with the organization. It can be very intimidating. What I find missing most is a simple current "How to get started". It seems that the sticky posts in The Master Guide of BIAB Brewing are mostly pre-Biabacus. Anyway, please direct me where best to post about my 1st brew as well as to comment on the website.

I am also a member on Jimsbeerkit.

Hi all, I'm from Norfolk in the uk.
I've only been brewing kits for about 6 months but already want to move onto BIAB, unfortunately I only have a 30 litre pot to work with :? And I don't really get the recipe side of things, I have beersmith 2 but it doesn't seem to like my pot size!
