I'm Mark, been brewing for about 8 years. Been doing small stovetop BIABs for a few years and I just bought a 30l electric urn. Turns out when I got it home it needs a 15A outlet, so the extra good price i got from the catering wholesaler just got a bit more like the cost of a retail crown/birko..

With a bit of luck I would imagine they would let you return it. By law here in Ozland, they would possibly have to. Maybe they could credit you toward a 40 litre?

Anyway, welcome to the forum and hope you will have time to contribute some tips and tricks you have picked up over your considerable years of brewing.

Hi all,

I am a recently graduated Law student from London, taking up the hobby while I have the time - before the real world of employment beckons.

I've done two kit brews so far, with the beer maturing nicely, but want to quickly jump into BIAB which is how I came across this site. There's a wealth of info on here, and I've learnt so much already and can't wait to get on with brewing high quality beer.

Great to be here!
I live in Boise, Idaho US ... I've been brewing for a few years, mostly with the BIAB method. I run a fully electric temp controlled system, for 6 gallon batches. Every brew day is a new adventure and learning process. Looking forward to digging into a few specific details, learning from some of the folks and hopefully sharing a bit of what I have picked up along the way.

I've done a few brews using kits and now I'm looking forward to making the step to all grain.

Lots of really useful info on this site.

Hi All,

I've been brewing on an off for almost 15 years, recently started getting back into it and wow the modern advancements are amazing.
I'm moving to AG, for better taste, more recipes and better money value - and BIAB looks like the way.

Cheers,

welcome chop, BIAB is surprising easy once you get your head around the basics and you'll make plenty of new friends once you have beer on tap....sometimes you wish you hadn't made those friends of course  , but hey, welcome to BIAB and quality beer at home

Hi all

I'm from western Scotland and have been brewing kits since the start of the year.
I recently moved into extract and this has just spurred me on to go all grain.I don'thave the space to go the three vessel route so biab seems ideal.

I came across this site from a link on the homebrew forum in the uk.

Still toying with what pot size to go for.I wil be using my stove top so a 33l pot is probably as large as i can go,just read some info on maxi biab so a cheaper 19l pot may suffice.I would be looking to get the standered 23l brew in the fermenter.

Any advice for newbie biab brewer would be appreciated.

Cheers
B

Welcome Brycey, This is the forum For all BIAB information.

Your 33L kettle may be able to make 23L batches, but, it may need the "Maxi-BAIB" Method,

For Full Volume BIAB, a 40L kettle will Make ANY Specific Gravity beer Recipe you want.

I found it is VERY difficult To make 23L in a 19L kettle, without another 15L kettle.

Check out our Maxi-BIAB topics At http://www.biabrewer.info/viewforum.php?f=89

My first post!
Hi guys, my name's Andrea, I live in Tuscany, Italy. Although mine is a wine producer area, Italians are driving enthusiastic about homebrewing. 90% of us use a 3 vessel system...but the others (and I) are satisfied by BIAB method. I started with kits and extracts about 2 years ago, now I'm going to brew my 3rd BIAB! I've got a 33 liters kettle with which I get 18 liter finished ale. I hope to learn lots of things and tips here! I'll stay tuned!!! Cheers

I'm Bob in New Jersey. Getting back into brewing after more than a decade lapse and wanted to try all grain without having to buy/build more equipment. I'm in the process of digging out my old equipment and putting together the recipe for my first "new" batch. Hoping to brew in mid-September.

coachreed50,

Get strapped in and get ready for a wild ride. Eight and a half gallons is what I use for a 5 gallon batch with a 90 minute boil. Read some of the past posts and ride into your BIAB future.

Hi

Pete from sunny Sherwood Forest in the UK - back to brewing after a recent trip round Hook Norton sparked the interest again.

Brewed many years ago from kit when your choice was pretty much limited to Tetleys in a tin, and have more recently concentrated on the flavoured gins and vodkas - hedgerows are your friend..!

Will be looking to build up an e-kettle setup most likely, with a little automation thrown in..! Got part way down the 3v system route on HERMS and realised there was more to life so its time to rethink the plan :-)

Lots of good info on here by the looks of it so seems a good place to start !

Cheers

Pete
